Clara is the eldest child of Clemont and Serena. Her birthday is October 19, and she has one younger brother, Alex. Clara is 10 years younger than Aiden and Michelle and four years younger than Elizabeth, making her one of the younger of Ash and Misty's friends' children.
She is blue eyed and blonde, though her hair is lighter in color than both of her parents. Her hair has a slight wave to it, similar to Serena's, and falls down to her mid-back.
Similar to her parents, Clara is more of an introvert, veering towards the shy and quiet side. She thinks very analytically and doesn’t like to be distracted by outside factors. From a young age, she struggles with deciding what she wants her future to be. Clemont and Serena are always trying to convince her that she doesn’t need to make that kind of a decision right away, but Clara never heeds their advice. It doesn’t help that Serena often tries to direct Clara into the path of becoming a Pokémon Performer, which Clara isn’t completely sold on. As a result, Clara tends to clash or argue with her mother, although she does love her.
Clara is extremely feminine and loves to dress up, play with make-up, and look through fashion magazines. She also loves dancing and is a student at the Lumiose Opera Ballet School, although she is a bit clumsy by nature and has a habit of tripping over her own two feet. As a result, some of the other girls in her dance classes tease her. Fortunately, her two best friends Sabine and Thea are always there for her and are able to help Clara laugh at her own awkwardness.
She greatly enjoys school and is very serious about her studies. Clara hates to be interrupted if she is reading or doing schoolwork, which makes it one of Alex's favorite things to do to her in order to rile up his older sister. She is also very curious about how things work and has inherited the invention bug from Clemont, sneaking into his lab and working on her own projects from the time she's a little girl.
Being indecisive, Clara goes back and forth a million times on which Pokémon she wants as her starter, but ultimately selects Fennekin, which thrills Serena. She also is eventually gifted a Skiddo from her Grandma Grace and Aunt Bonnie, and an Espurr is her first catch on her own.
