My Julie redesign + process shots
Julie is, to me, an absurdly flat character. It comes as no surprise that she was just made to be Ben's GF, no more no less, just to stir the pot that is Ben's romantic life. I decided to give her a lot more personality and have it be one that actually fits with Ben as well, so she's very rambunctious and loud. She's a DJ, but I didn't want to follow the trope of 'cute techno asian girl' so she's instead really into hiphop. She and Ben like to get together and jam out a lot and show each other what they've been listening to or making lately. Ship is constantly around Julie, usually in the form of her headphones, and they can turn into a helment or mechsuit pretty fast in such a convenient spot. Julie's still into tennis, but it isn't her only hobby XD she's also got a fishing license and is really into scifi so the amount of enthusiasm she had when figuring out the whole alien situation with Ben and co was a huge to put simply. As for her relationship with Ben, the 2 are really only just dating so that their parents stop asking when they'll find someone and also so that they dont make ppl feel bad when rejecting them, because neither are really into the romance scene. That said, they're incredibly close and have been friends since their freshman year of HS.
I had so much fun designing her! Its a very colorful and popping design that she has and her having to least form fitting clothes make her really fun to just flow with! Im very excited to draw her more in the future. Shouts out to @electraslight for telling me to stripe her skirt, it really brought it all together :)
