Like unironically we should be subsidising at least 50% of their educations. What do you mean we have a shortage of doctors we should have surplus. What do you mean they’re being overworked they should be treated like royalty, they can fix human bodies

Intentions don’t matter to the stitches in my nana’s leg or the ten billion other lifesaving treatments we all get at a detriment to their finances and mental wellbeing. AND you should be able to become a doctor working no more than eight hours in a row and regularly getting eight hours of sleep. You should not have to sacrifice your own mental and physical wellbeing to become a doctor. I think that makes worse doctors actually.

Totally agree on all counts except treating doctors like royalty. Partly because they actually do something to deserve respect and royalty does not, but equally, even perfectly well rested and supported doctors are fallible. They will make mistakes. They do not know everything. I know folks who think doctors who should be encouraged to develop god complexes, and folks who think all doctors are incompetent and evil and want nothing more than to hurt the vulnerable. Both are wrong. Doctors are literally just normal people who are doing a difficult and complex job. Absolutely, give them the respect they're due when they're due it. And question them, because sometimes they might have missed something. But they're genuinely just. Folks.

Anyway back to the original point, yes their education should be far more subsidised. It is absurd that I have pals in their 30s paying over a thousand pounds to sit essential exams to acquire their specialist position. We need those specialists. They should not be paying all that, it's ridiculous.
