Si-si-sing,
Always singing,
Sheâs always sin-
âItâs so annoying sheâs always singing!â
âWhy do you have to sing while youâre working?â
âWhy are you so damn happy?â
I hate that question,
I hate the fact that they think my singing
Is related to happiness,
That they equate my desperate vocals
To a sign of bliss
Instead of the sign of distress
That it really is,
And I like to think that they donât really notice,
Donât really hear,
Cause if I recognize the fact that their ears
Pick up every tune and every lyric,
I might just stop,
And stopping, stopping,
Well it equals disaster,
You see I just moved into a new place with a new roommate and she wonders why I play music all the time why I need sound all the time why I canât just enjoy the silence!
But the silence is not silent,
And when the music stops and my vocals cease,
All thatâs left is the turmoil in my head,
And youâll say
Say thatâs no-
âThatâs not healthy!â
âYou need some help.â
âYouâre no good if you canât be alone with your own thoughts!â
Yet youâre the reason Iâm no good,
Work work work
You say, come into work, go out of work, come back in,
And we donât care if your bones are breaking and the skin is peeling off your body,
We donât care if your hairâs falling out,
And youâre getting gingivitis from all the stress,
And your fingernails are starting to break off,
And your eyes have bags under them thatâ they didnât have before,
And that youâre barely able to stand up when you walk in,
And we especially donât care that youâre losin-losing your voiceâŠ
Sweet siren singing since she was born,
Losing her voice from the work storm,
No time for warm ups and exercises,
Only time to eat sleep work repeat sleep eat work forget to eat forget to sleep work pass out eat something pass out work exhaustion pain noise out of music out of music out of mus-
I know this trend,
I know what it means when my words start repeating and I stop breathing in between them,
Today means falling apart,
I knew that when I stepped out of the front door this morning,
And some of you will tell me to rest,
And some of you will tell me to push through,
And Iâm such a people pleaser that Iâll get distraught over who to listen to,
Oh, and donât worry, Iâve stopped singing.
