I probably would have liked TADC even more if it had looked that low-poly with more authentically “nineties” design sensibilities, but I understand why it doesn’t. It’s hard for people to take the story’s emotions seriously because of how the characters actually look, I can’t imagine the show would have done nearly as well if its art style was Even Quirkier. That and I like the androgyny of the canon designs too much to say for certain what Timeline I’d actually prefer. Like no don’t do that to Gangle and Ribbit stop. Stop it you’re hurting them…. You’re hurting themmm stopittttt

A weakness of the show being so short, I feel, is that we don’t get to sit with the Psychological Horror of being a human trapped in a digital toyetic body very much, besides Pomni messing with her face in episodes 1 and 3, and Zooble’s therapy session (and in the latter example it’s played much more tragically than as horror). They’re used often for the Comedy half of the Dark Comedy tone the show has but the Darkness is lacking… There’s plenty of fan comics about a character silently Contending with the fact that they don’t have a human body anymore (these are my favorite kind of fancomic..) so it’s obvious from The Context we get that the characters did/are experiencing what happens in that fanart, but we have so so little Scenes of them doing so… we don’t even get any Onscreen Scenes of Zooble swapping their parts around in frustration outside of the teasers! We only see Evidence that they’ve done so… and that’s awesome that the animators had time and motivation to pull that off. BUT LIKE…

And if we had enough time to see every human character express this horror, even very briefly, it would make the contrast with Caine even stronger — Caine would have no such scene, feel no such horror, because he has no such memory of Being in a human body…

I wanted to see like. Ragatha struggle with her ragdoll hands and cheerfully play it off while badly hiding apparent frustration, or poking at her own stuffing with an inscrutable expression… Or Gangle telling Pomni that feeling for her pulse is a good way to calm down and then instinctively feeling for her own and remembering that she doesn’t have one anymore! Or Something!!! Neither Gangle nor Ragatha or anyone else have organs anymore and haven’t had them for years and never will again but nobody acknowledges this….! Please..!!!!!!!!!

Re. Greznedge: what I like about this is how it would inevitably backfire on Jax completely. She'd be all "i'm gonna make them call me Greznedge lmao, they'll feel so stupid, this'll be so epic". And Zooble would maybe be briefly annoyed, and the others might be sceptical but then they'd all just roll with it and move on and use the name normally. And Greznedge would be all "fuck, now my name is Greznedge forever?? This sucks so baaad".

And of course Zooble in particular would know she doesn't like it, and Greznedge would know Zooble knows she doesn't like it, but Greznedge would be too stubborn and embarrassed to admit it and Zooble would be like "rabbit girl made this bed, she can get herself out of it. I'm not playing". Meanwhile Ragatha would try to approach it kindly like "are you... sure this is the name you want? It's ok to change it! We'll all support you!" And that would just make Greznedge double down harder on the Greznedge of it all. So there'd be an impasse. And the true test of personal growth would be how long she'd suffer being Greznedged before admitting she doesn't like it.

It's just so classic Jax to try to mess with everyone via ironic detachment only to end up hurting her own feelings for no reason. That's the secret sauce of her character right there. I love her so

Exactly like she just KEEPS crafting torment nexuses for herself it sucks so bad. Out of one nexus and straight into another. She’s really cute if you think about it.

It’s hard to tell How long she’d hold out for, because of her spite factor… as soon as someone else (who Isn’t content to keep it to themselves like Zooble is) catches on that she doesn’t like the name, Greznedge would, as you said, double down on Being Greznedge. Maybe she’d snap once people started making Nicknames… Imagine you come out of your bedroom after a long night of convincing yourself that this is Fine and the FIRST thing you hear is somebody talking about some Good Morning Grezzy. Especially if the perpetrator isn’t Zooble
