scheherazade (dota) is ultimately a narrator in this tale and it is a role she cannot escape. she knows the instant she wakes up in this place, in these clothes, with these bracelets around her wrists, ankles, and the tight choker, before she even sees the body right outside that tonight she will die. she is a narrator who is not the protagonist and does not know who the protagonist is. so try to make that young boy the antihero. fish out jekyll from where he's hiding. which vicario is vicario? this time, will hamlet be able to act? will dorian's pride ruin all of them? surely, cinderella will make it home by midnight, but is that a good thing- where is her home? will arsene steal them away, and make a great escape? where is the detective, when will they come out into the parlor and explain everything? how can you survive by telling stories, when no one listens?

4. Which one of your ocs do you wish people would pay more attention to?

this is probably because i am forcibly not able to work on banamo (schoolwork 😔) and i have been on a death of the author kick but i think everyone should pay attention to the dota cast because they are all so fucking weird. like not remotely weird compared to the freaks in cosmiclover because there arent like. powers and angels fucking up their lives but that is probably what makes them more weird. i also just need to Write More about the dota cast because i think most information has been shared with like, a few people and not publicly and the things that Have been shared are crumbs. at the very least everyone look at what little there is in their tag please .

but um also everyone get obsessed with claudia drewart please.

14. Have any of your ocs been re-written? If so, what did their old version look like vs their new one?

most of them have not really been written, but a big one is Maggie Maria Lupis ("im just a silly little rabbit magician :3" -> "i am responsible for my fathers death and because of that i have to carry on his legacy").

there is also gene, who Did start out as just a Serious Loner who is Very Serious About the Job and Loyalty, to someone who very genuinely cares about the well-being of the people they work with (cough they have a bit of a savior complex tho) and also just like. people In General. especially ⬇️

and tok similarly has gone from being Nice and Polite Timeloop Protag who is going to save everyone to someone who is nice and polite (hitting the correct dialogue options) and is also pretty fuckign ruthless (on account of the time loop) to uh. also now being a part of a system so that is fun!

and robin is like . they were Originally the protagonist, got ousted by Tok, kinda temporarily gained it back but in more of a "narrator" role for tok. and is now solidly in the passenger seat again. because tok is more confident they've become a bit more meek but in the sense that its like. they are thinking things through because this is their First Time experiencing these things, but also wtf is tok planning. these are very specific instructions and they havent been wrong before, so...? i still think they have a good relationship with gene (they both want to help people and others in unfortunate positions but have different ideas of how that Should be done. but also they both want to help each other) which is kept from when they Were the protagonist

6. Do you have any ocs who started out as fan characters, or as adaptations of canon characters who eventually became their own thing? If so, what did their character progression look like?

SO MANY. maybe too many. i dont think ive re-adapted fan characters because i dont think ive made fan characters since like.... 2017. i skip the fan-character phase and go straight to putting them in one of my worlds...

death of the author

firstly, theres pretty much the entire cast of death of the author (ex. Hamlet, Dorian (Dorian Gray), Ishmael (Moby Dick), Ella (Hill House/Cinderella) that are all adaptations of the character; with some exceptions where they're based more on the "idea" of the character (Sherlock, Arsene, Schehe).

i decided pretty early on to make it so that they're not exactly the same character or meant to be a direct adaptation so that i'd have more room to mess around, but different aspects of backstory are taken directly (ex. Dorian becomes the muse of an artist, and ends up killing him (AND HONESTLY? he was in the right for it here) or are very abstract

"Erik" (phantom of the opera adaptation) is Also "Christine". afab singer -> male puberty. was not Aware they were intersex until puberty. ohhhh thats why my mom views me as a disgusting monster ok 😐. "lost" their voice and desperately wants "christine's" voice back. her design is very based on Winslow (Phantom of the Paradise) and the mask is also inspired by the Reverse Bear Trap

cosmiclover omelette

we have William Gladstone who is based off of, surprise surprise, Gladstone Gander. specifically on the interpretation of his luck where it can be interpreted as an abusive relationship. read more here . the fact he has dead parents is taken from Don Rosa's gladstone, the fact he loses his luck is taken from a few different comic panels, and "if i do a bad thing i lose my luck" is from dt87. i think he is overall way more nice than gladstone gander tho

sigh....... happy...... is somehow very distantly related to gladstone gander.... (rp au -> so much crazy shit happened it turned into a different character -> rp ended -> years later sighhh i miss my guy. i'll turn him into my oc). very lightly based off of junpei/akane (mainly the "watch this girl die/suffer over and over and then try to save her). and while i was watching umineko it felt like i kept getting shot in the hand because 1) ow 2) ohhhh my god i could steal this for happy. u can see a shift in design that's pre and post umineko. anyways if i ever post happy and people that are Not pirates with him they were probably also stolen from That rp and have uh. also gone thru a lot of changes. tldr hes like if gladstone and beatrice were put in a pot and beato is winning

november orpheus is fun because it was like.

and one of the adapted characters from the rp i mentioned with happy has also been fused with this character so if i draw happy with a very sad looking purple girl. know that one day s/he will become a very happy but amnesiac scientist (who still hates himself but he doesnt remember why)

SIN-080 is very vaguely based on disco elysium/harry dubois but kinda not really. SIN-905 (tin man from wizard of oz)

ok i lied there is A fan character -> own thing and it is elaquanine -> quanistrik. that is not the first elaquanine drawing ever but i dont have my journals from the 4th grade so u get the shitty redraw i did in the middle of class on my chromebook okay

10. Which one of your ocs do you think you would dislike the most in real life?

besides all of the ones that are designed to Fucking Kill You (gestures towards LBBBL) ..... maybe Rayne Gumshoe. because he smokes and is a cop (basically) and loves waving his gun around.

i would probably hate Jekyll + Dorian but the thing with those two (and the DOTA cast) is that they Would act very nice/neutral under regular circumstances. if i was trapped in the death game with all of them i would hate all of them. if we are just on the street ? we are fine

11. Do you have an oc "type?" (AKA, are there any design or characterization trends that you notice popping up amongst your characters?)

my biggest weakness is a long coat. i love giving my characters a long coat it has been a thing since like 2019. they just look so cool with a long coat just imagine how it'll flap in the wind when they are running or falling from a great height. imagine the aura.

there is. also. "two hair pieces that go in front of the ear to hide that there are ears" BUT!!!!!! i have enough characters where i DO draw ears that i think it is FINE. its FINE.

in terms of characterization um it would probably be extreme self-loathing and a feeling of alienation like you will never be accepted by others unless you do xxx? but like. dont. dont. dont look into that.

i also have a lot of "guy lives forever/a very long time and it Will fuck them up" and "i'm a hero!!!"(<-guy who also needs to be saved) and uh. there is of course overlap that happens there.

hamlet (morgan) is a funny guy because his family conflict has nothing to do with the fact that most of his family members are some form of doctor (family name is "suture") while he works for the costume department of a high school and is probably doing unpaid overtime and getting paid like shit. i mean there isnt even really a family conflict. he wants to get out of this death game so that he can go to his father's deathbed. which isnt to say that he wouldn't be trying as hard to get out if his dad wasn't dying. but the fact that the is hamlet is mainly tied to the fact that there are many things he finds wrong in the world, and he is very good at projecting (speaking and being heard. but also projecting), but he thinks that he is incapable of doing something, or that doing something is the same as doing nothing. you are hamlet because you are incompetent. you are hamlet because you would rather think about how someone could theoretically be punished than doing any sort of execution yourself.

QUANISTRIK

TYPE: NAUTICAL/RADIANT

LIKES: Beaches, balanced meals

DISLIKES: Traffic

Quanistrik can turn into two different forms depending on the circumstances. 2A can swim against strong waves and currents, even in storms. This, in combination with it being able to radiate light from its yellow spots, making it easier for passing ships to see it, makes it a necessary monster on boats. 2B is able to run extremely fast on land while carrying heavy loads, and its horn can break and lift many tons; making it very good for saving people from under rubble. All forms are also able to provide electricity and water, and are friendly towards humans. All of these attributes make it a popular choice for different occupations.

They quite enjoy taking baths, and they also like rolling around in sand and mud. So if you have one, you should expect to be grooming it often.

CRUISTACEAN

TYPE: NAUTICAL

LIKES: Shiny things, exploring

DISLIKES: Cramped spaces, staying indoors

Cruistacean are very friendly and get along well with other creatures. They will offer help crossing rivers, or even sea, to those that need it. They do not have fear in meeting new people, but they are more hesitant when being approached.

They can accelerate surprisingly fast, whether on land or in water. Watch out for jets of water and their pincers!

LIKES: Warm, cozy places

DISLIKES: Strong smells

Young Powketroo are extremely reckless and want to get stronger as soon as possible. Even with how padded their paws are, they end up hurting themselves from hitting things too hard. Their powerful kicks and tail are just as dangerous as their punches.

Punching different subjects is how they investigate the world, so it's advised to wear a lot of padding if you're training one.

claudia + bravo: claudia admires the lengths they went to for their art, but is also “pff. id NEVER end up like that” (they totally would), bravo sees someone treading the same path as them and a part of them wants to give claudia a peaceful death by making them fall in love with her and a part of him wants to drag claudia through the same hell he went through

bravo + gio: giovanna is a time traveler that is renowned for for their clothing making skills. bravo is an immortal ballerina/actor. they become familiar with each other over time. bravo wants gio all to themself, make pretty outfits for ME forever! and gio saw them lose their identity and become the Arm of an angel over time, but was never there long enough to help them

gio + claudia: they would be an amazing team but they are both awful at commitment and would both want to be somehwere else. gio has seen the timelines where claudia is destroyed so much they become a monster and the timelines where theyre kind and pass on peacefully. gio desperately wants to help claudia be the best they can be but values herself enough that she won’t take claudia’s relentless criticism. claudia thinks that gio is replacing skill with expensive materials but also that she has a lot of potential; claudia thinks that gio *knows* her strong points, so the only thing left is to “fix” the bad. claudia doesnt realize that gio wants to spend time with THEM and this isnt just business

MICELIUM

type: WONDER

Likes: Trinkets, Cheese Dislikes: Hoarders

Micelium is theorized to have at least two separate brains. It's never observed as sleeping, and it sometimes squeaks to itself.

They're able to put things into their mushroom "bag" or under the cap. It's impossible to retrieve something just by sticking your hand in.

Sometimes, it goes into a loop of wanting something, trading it away, and then wanting it back. Are its brains disagreeing on the value of the item?

type: THORNY

LIKES: Magic tricks, mazes DISLIKES: Rainy days

Suncrower are as shy as they are intelligent. Areas they inhabit are more dangerous due to protecting their hoards by recreating traps they see, or experimenting. They dislike people and other monsters who try to figure out and disarm their traps.

It enjoys getting attention and praise, but too much and it'll avoid you. Its hard to tell where the line is.

CHUÔNGONG

type: METALLIC

LIKES: Places for growth (churches, schools, gyms, etc) DISLIKES: Silence, its ribbons being pulled

Chuôngong is an exceptionally friendly monster, and is naturally calm around humans. While they can be quiet, forcing them to be quiet or preventing them from rocking for long amounts of time causes them stress.

Their gentle ringing makes it sound like they're laughing. They used to be symbols of royalty, especially princesses.
