Hello! I am interested in participating in your Halloween mini bang, and I HAVE read your FAQ, but I still have two questions. Does ‘Check-in’s’ mean all the media is due by October 1 at the latest? And if so, would it be okay if I requested to be paired with someone who was willing to work so that we finished in August? I am starting a new job in early September, and I do not want to commit and then need to back out. Thanks!
hello! so the check ins are just an informal thing for me to know how much everyone has gotten done. there is no minimum/fixed amount of the project that has to be finished by then, just a recommended percentage. but as long as the works are completed and posted by the final deadline (10th november) it's fine.
as for the pairings, it honestly depends. how it usually works is that you work in tandem with your partner to get it done, but really you set your own pace. this means that if you're a writer you very well could finish your fic even before getting paired, and then your artist works based off that (although that isn't really recommended haha). if you're an artist and you've already decided on the scene you want to draw, you could finish that as soon as you want, too.
so you can decide based on this whether you would like to participate. however, there are some things to take note of:
teams are only announced near the end of august, which would give you very little time.
your partner may choose along the way to tweak some of their existing project, which might affect the outcome of yours. this is a collaborative effort, so communication maybe be necessary throughout the time given to you and changes might have to be made. having to finish your project that early could therefore inconvenience the both of you.
the pairings will be on a first come first serve basis and also anonymous, so i would not pair you with a specific person for fairness' sake, unfortunately :(
