Alex will never, ever admit to anyone that he likes Andrew. Because he doesn’t like him. Andrew and Alex are just friends, and thats all they will be.
But in the back of his mind, he pictures a different world. A world where him and Andrew hold each other and share a living space with only one bedroom. He indulges in that world in his sleep, when he dreams of tracing Andrew’s features in the early sunlight, of kissing him softly, of making breakfast together.
It’s a soft world that Alex tries to not let himself linger on.
On tour, it was harder to ignore it. Constantly being around Andrew, both on and off stage, not getting a moment to collect himself and calm down over his non-crush.
It was the night that the band got drunk in the bus that made Alex almost snap.
The girls had forced Andrew into the position of doll and started styling his hair. They managed to talk him into makeup, and maybe an outfit. Everyone found it hilarious, drunkenly watching Andrew get his hair braided and eyeshadow painted on his eyelids. Everyone except Alex.
He couldn’t bring himself to look, a red flush settling on his face that he could thankfully blame the alcohol in his system for. It was painful seeing Andrew being feminine, like a taunt to poor Alex. It was a mockery to how much of a coward Alex was for not facing his feelings, too scared of what others might think of him. It reminded him of all the girls he slept with that looked like Andrew.
Once Andrew’s hair was successfully braided, the outfits began to come out. Dresses that looked like they would barely covered him were held up, the man blushing fiercely and scrunching up his nose. His makeup was almost done, the soft plum colored eyeshadow making his eyes pop. He looked like a model.
Everyone agreed on a black dress with a straight neckline and an angled skirt. The material was soft, almost velvet like. The girls ushered him into the bathroom with the garment, telling him to hurry hp before they shut the door behind him.
Alex had subtly grabbed one of the throw pillows on the couch, adjusting it over his lap and taking a sip of his beer. He tried to not think about how Andrew looked so fucking gorgeous. He couldn’t stop thinking about how amazing it would be to be alone in his bunk right now.
Andrew had to ask Grace for help with the dress, her tucking into the bathroom with a delighted cackle when the door shut. Alex already knew he was done for, but when the door was yanked open and Grace dragged Andrew out by his wrist, he almost had a heart attack.
The dress clung to his body, outlining his hips sinfully. He looked foolishly boyish, but if Alex squinted, he looked exactly like a girl he slept with a few months ago.
The bus was loud with joyous laughter and teasing cat calls. He clumsily twirled around, laughing bashfully, unaware of the state Alex was in. His cheeks were flushed, hair slightly mused from changing.
Alex’s grip tightened on the pillow, staring wide-eyed at his best friend, his boss, the man he was in love with.
A wave of guilt hit him as he realized that if Andrew was a girl, he would date him. He would love him proudly if he wasn’t a guy.
i honestly dgaf if i loose followers for saying this but a lot of yall are very very weird and this is exposing that. hozier is not some perfect man and he can have flaws. some of the screenshots might’ve been faked, yes, but hana follows accounts that align with those beliefs. and yes, you can be disappointed in ur fav, especially when their partner is not a good person. i think its also very telling that when taylor swift was dating matty healy, she was viewed as a racist bitch who shared his views, but when it comes to a man dating a not so great woman, its excused and hes actually flawless and perfect.
