The Unsubscriber’s Tale Part Two
There's not a lot to thank Musk for - certainly not anything he's done on purpose - but the fact that some interesting writers have retreated from Twitter to Substack is one.
This excellent piece from Aaronovitch questioning the right's shibboleth that they've been radicalised by woke liberals is well worth a read because I think many people realise it's true, but not many could make the case as well as he does.
Let this sink in.
One of the things I keep coming back to regarding Republican reaction to Trump’s indictment (or in Trump terms, “indication” I guess?) is that he hushed these stories of sleeping with porn stars because he thought that moral Republicans would object. This wasn’t an action aimed at Democrats.

Never fear. We may let the scaffolds fall Confident that we have built our wall.

Once, men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.

I don't think I'm ever going to top this.
It's definitely not the only factor, but I'd say I'm 50-60% happier now I don't check Twitter every day.
My question for the government on removing certain workers's right to strike is: this is a valuable right you're removing from people, how are you going to recompense those it affects above and beyond the current pay dispute?

RCN leader Pat Cullen says 19% demand is just a ‘starting point’ and calls on government to meet it ‘halfway’
How embarrassing that the nurses have had to say publicly they'd accept 10% when, if the government had negotiated with them, they could have taken credit for talking them down
