Ok, but… why didn’t he just go to Ireland? Or get a wooden stake and free his soul? For someone who just wanted to reunite with his ancestors and escape loneliness, he quite literally didn’t have to do all that?

It’s almost like that wasn’t the true goal. The movie kind of implies there’s a way for vampires to exist somewhat normally without slaughtering whole communities (talking about Mary and Stack here, assuming they don’t do that). Remmick simply chose not to because that’s not what he’s really about. He’s a vulture desperate for validation from the people he preys upon. He’s a good guy, promise, he’s “on the right side of history” spiritually, but he can’t just give up being a vulture, he likes being a vulture. It’s his victims’ dubious consent to his predatory behavior that he craves more than anything, infinitely more than he craves kindness or equality (and does he really if it’s on his own terms exclusively?). Making Remmick a vampire of all horror movie monsters was pretty genius actually. That is truly what he is. To the bone.

To me, Remmick is irredeemable, like, in a meta sense. He is a fun villain no doubt, but I had this urge to strangle him every time he showed up on screen. So many established characters, so many captivating stories that could’ve gone anywhere — cut short to serve his own. He’s like that fanfic OC from the author that fucking hates you and your faves. And to top it all off, he had the absolute audacity to do the evil monologue inches away from basically winning? BOY ARE YOU SERIOUS

the thing about caring about ableism and fighting for disability rights, is that you can't center it about just your disabilities. i'm not d/Deaf. i still care whether an event has sign interpreters. i don't have photosensitive epilepsy. i still think that strobing lights are 99% of the time totally unnecessary and serve as a needless barrier to photosensitive people. i can transfer to a toilet mostly independently. i still think that public accessible bathrooms should have lifts and adult changing tables in them. you can't stop your disability activism where it stops benefitting you. that's not activism. that's selfishness

It was - get rid of Beetee, we’re finally done with him (I want to know why he’s suddenly disposable though). But let’s make it as awful as possible and remind him every day what his son was feeling in his own last days

It was - get rid of Wiress (and also show the world what she’s become) because she never should have won (and we’ll show people what happens when you think you’re smarter than the Capitol)

It was - get rid of Johanna Mason, we killed everyone she loved and it didn’t break her enough so now we can’t control her

But it wasn’t just punishment for Katniss. She had no idea how influential and volatile of a group they were.

Honestly, I feel like the 3rd Quell might have actually worked if the Capitol hadn’t decided to just send all the most rebellious and threatening victors into them. You can’t put 10+ people who rebelled in their own games back into an arena (and this time they’re all together) and expect it to go well for you???

The great thing about Gus is that he perfectly oscillates from playing the annoyed straight man to Shawn’s general insanity to yes-anding to an insane degree. For every moment where he says no Shawn, you did not hear that both ways there’s a moment where he, with no prompting, claims that his fictitious grandmother with a broken hip was teaching a line dancing class. For every time he says Shawn, stop messing around at work, there is a time where after Shawn says he’s been “looking at the man in the mirror”, Gus, in a move that never ever fails to make me laugh, with a completely straight face and no impact on the conversation, does the Michael Jackson “he-he”. snow was the person pushing the initial rule change to allow two victors (*fight me*). well aware that he would change it at the end.

but it was him. the more i get to know snow, it seems to be clearer that he was the one to suggest the change. all he wants is to prove his thesis. that anyone -- children, the righteous, lovers -- will turn on others when it comes down to it. when their lives are on the line. especially covey women. and now he has the perfect opportunity. a boy with blonde curls, professing his love. all for a girl who is a whisper of a songbird from long ago. one who blushes at him. who holds his hands. who kisses his cheek. and now snow has his chance. a chance to finally prove things right. to prove his entire existence. to see the face of another boy's face as a covey woman betrays them. snow is more than happy to agree to a suggestion. he's already getting his popcorn out.

when katniss says "but peeta wanted them (children) so badly," what she really means is that she wanted them badly (mj, 331).

because of course that is what it is. in a series where katniss berates herself for not being deserving enough to have children (cf, 101). where katniss is terrified of not being able to protect her children from a world of cruelty (thg, 9). where katniss is not even able to protect the only person she feels certain she loves (thg, 10; mj, 296).

how could she be vocal of a desire to have a child when she feels she doesn't deserves something as pure, as sweet, as children. when she would fail to protect them. just like prim.

but peeta? oh peeta. he is light. and life. and rebirth. and hope. of course, he deserves that future. anyone as pure as him would.

but she still feels she doesn't. not katniss. a girl with no wings. and no fire. and no sister (mj, 298)

so, that line is not simply about peeta's desire for children. rather it is a perfect reflection of katniss's grief and guilt over losing prim. her fear of losing another beautiful thing to a cruel word. her belief that only people as pure as peeta deserve the precious gift that is a child.

and yet, flowing under the surface, is a quiet yearning. that maybe, just maybe, she deserves it too.
