“Sure you don’t romanoff,” Tony spoke arms crossed about his chest tone disbelieving. Natasha could have fooled just about anyone Tony was sure of it, but he had spent years fighting by her, which lead her to be suspicious of the idea that she could have given up all of her widow tech completely. “Oh of course, and I’m just a loser who teaches computer science,” maybe he was wrong to try and call her bluff. That didn’t stop him from doing so. “Fine, fine. Suit yourself you just won’t get to see the really cool upgrade me and FRIDAY have been working on,”

shrugging, hugo pulled his legs closer into his chest. he didn’t really have a solid idea of what he wanted, but he knew he needed more information. taking a moment to articulate his thoughts, the little thing replied, “i’m not sure. it was just a thought, i haven’t even mentioned it to nate yet, but i wanted to come to him with some facts. not just a whimsical idea, you know?” he did know, however, despite how early on in their relationship it was, he did want to move in with nate. “we’ve been roommates for a while, but we’ve accumulated so much stuff and we’re dating so… a place of our own seems good.”

“smart kid,” tony signed in response nodding. god he really was getting old, if it was this weird with hugo looking for his own place, he knew what it was going to be like with leo. still it would be good for them to stand on their own feet. he couldn’t be that much good of a guide when it came to romantic pursuits, but he did know that living together with someone was a big step, but then hugo and nate had been living together throughout all of this. “me and’ FRIDAY are on the case. we’ll have a look around and text you the results okay,” he speaks. “one codition though, you’ve gotta invite me around for dinner when you’re settled. i know clint has been to jay and aeron’s so that’s what good parents do apparently,”

though she wasn’t really worried, her shoulders did sag a little with relief, and her grin absolutely did stay plastered on her face. looking back, it made sense how protective both him and Uncle Steve had gotten, but it was in the past now. she bounces in her seat, scooping up her bag once more, completely unperturbed it was a quick moment in the lab if it meant food was involved. “oh, that’s a definite yes, if you let me in on it,” she stood, waiting for him to lead the way, “your brain may be giant compared to mine, but it doesn’t mean I can’t try to fit everything you have in it.”

tony was a man with admittedly many, many, problems but it could not be said that he didn’t care for the children around them. the whole concept of the iron man suit had been to protect people. so when kids had been putting on suits and themselves into danger it was perhaps unsurprising that he had reacted badly. things were however, quite obviously different now. cassie had established herself as quite the little avenger and the young avengers team had proven to be quite the successful little experiment. standing he began to lead the way. “hey now you calling me big headed kiddo, because i can totally retract my earlier statements,”

closing the door behind him, hugo nodded slowly. he would have come back later if his dad had needed him to, but considering the nature of the topic, hugo realised a long time ago this was something he needed actual help with. usually, the boy would shoulder what he could until he fell apart, but this was… different. something that he couldn’t risk falling apart. shrugging in response to his father’s question, hugo curled himself up in one of the big office chairs. “i… i was just wondering what the housing market looked like. and if you, uh, knew anyone that could show me some… potential places.”

tony couldn’t say he was the best parent, he had never really boasted to be (with the exception of a few drunken nights at parties) he did however value that he was a whole damn lot better than his own. the fact that his kids could come talk to him was testament to that surely. over the years he’d like to think he’d found ways of encouraging them, though he was sure the opposite could also be said what with the habit he had for bottling up his own emotions. “the housing market?” he repeats. “you wanna move? I could totally have a chat with a few people... what were you thinking a house? apartment?”

sighing softly as he wandered into his dad’s office, hugo knocked rapidly against the door. it wasn’t every day you had a conversation with your dad about being an actual, full-on adult. the last real adult conversation had been his own coming out a few years ago, but that didn’t compare to his. as the little dancer made his way through the expensive office, he raised his hand a little in greeting. “hey, dad, you aren’t busy, are you?” he asked, wincing as he signed along with his spoken words. “i wanted to talk to you about something.” [ @posionhearted ]

“hey kiddo,” tony replies with a smile, speaking and signing albeit clumsily, everything he was doing in that moment. his kids were always going to come first above his tinkering, superheroing or lesson planning. especially when the other certainly seemed to be serious about what it was that was bothering him. “i’m not now, i was just working on an update for friday but it can wait,” he closes the files on display with a swipe of his hand to prove the point. “what’s up? do i need to be sat down for this?”

“it is, that’s right, i have arrived,” she spins around once as she sets her backpack on the ground next to the stool she sits on. she’s grinning, and hoping that the grin can remain as she decides to rip the bandaid off so to speak with her news, “so, the Young Avengers are back. I figured I’d tell you before you saw us out doing things.” she’s casual, but she’s all too aware of the first time she told Tony about the Young Avengers, “thoughts? wanna get milkshakes and discuss? can we agree no big showdown this time Uncle Tony?” she teases affectionately.

tony grins as the other plays along with the joke. she’s always been like an extension of their family regardless of what her relationship was like with hugo. hence why he’s been so protective of her. “oh really?” he asks trying not to comment too much until she had a chance to say more. “thanks for the warning kiddo,” he laughed. “food is always a yes you know that. no, no. we’ve been through that, i can’t change your mind i learnt that a long time ago. you wanna be a hero, you be a hero. i can at least ask to see your suit though, and ask for the liberty to make a few... alterations,”

betty was so lucky to be alive and in love. truly, deeply, completely submerged in this all-powerful feeling for the two people who had been beside her for her entire life. she felt so fortunate to be with them. without obstacles, without fear. finally, they could be openly, and unapologetically together. ❝ i didn’t know you were considering a career in poetry now, ❞ she teased. ❝ but you’re absolutely right. ❞ falling in love with both bruce and tony demanded a complete surrender. rational thought, something the scientist was known for, was out of the equation. this was something else. ❝ when it comes to our feelings we don’t have a say in the matter. ❞ the redhead glanced at bruce, her best friend, husband, widower. an excited glint in her eye, voice steady as she wasn’t the slightest bit nervous. ❝ we do have a choice to make. or, well, you do, tony. ❞

bruce squinted in thought a moment, “have i heard that somewhere?” he teases, though a rather bashful smile spread across his face. it has taken a lot to get to this point for bruce, so openly expressing all these feelings he was now certain were present, and not only for betty. between the two of them, he wrapped an arm around each’s waist, looking between them, meeting betty’s eyes, letting his eyes rest on tony after betty finishes. he tilts his head a little, eyebrows raised in curiosity, though a firm hand also on tony’s back, reassurance where he was sure it was needed, “there are a lot of good reasons to make this official, what do you think?” [ @posionhearted ]

“will you both just let me have my moment??” he sighed trying to sound as dramatic and hard done by as possible. it was moments like this that just seemed to make everything worth it, all those years of fighting, struggling. he would have taken on another hundred of them if he knew he was coming home to bruce and betty at the end of it. tony doesn’t miss the glance between them, of course he doesn’t. a brow raised in curiosity. “what? Have I missed something?” He asked before the two of them spoke again. yep he had definitely missed something. “we’ve already told the kids, how much more official do you two want? there’s not much left to do unless you wanna do one of those pointless interviews??” ( @rcdshvlk )
