I started a new book series where once again human women are abducted by aliens but then the ship lands on a planet where the nice alien men are so #blessed to have some women and there is a fated mate mechanic.

But this time it is a jungle planet and the aliens have wings.

This time the human women weren't abducted, but they were still having a bad time before and after their ship crashed. There were zero alien women, the alien men are green-brown with tails, jungle planet, fated mates meet each other in their dreams.

Day 27: Sci Fi Horror Fans vs. Alien Romance Fans

My 150 read of 2026:

Strange Love by Ann Aguirre.

I came to this book with absolutely no expectations. It had popped up several times on my recommended for you lists, been listed as a title in similar people have also read lists, and so on. No overt, "You gotta read this!" kind of thing.

But god damn, was I honestly delighted in the story! The MMC is awkward and sweet and very very alien. The FMC is a treate and rolls with a lot of punches externally while freaking out internally. And the Snaps, the dog granted a voice, was fucking awesome (such a good boy).

It was an odd story all on its own, but made sweet with two people accidentally thrown together who grow to care for one another. Because of over population and population control concerns, couples need to compete in a series of trials to be granted permission to copulate and "exchange genetic material". Threw a series to tests and trials, they need to prove they "worthy genetics" to pass on, but also that they can protect, defend, provide, and nurture whatever young they have.

I like that it teated both partners in a couple. It was interesting how sometimes the partner you enter the Choosing with may not be the one you end the trials with. And it was so fucking weird in other ways.

Very much recommend this book if you like aliens who are alien in culture, appearance, and anatomy. An MMC who is sweet and gentle and grows in confidence with an FMC who is finding her footing in a world she didnt even know existed before.

Arghh, after book 5 (out of 5 so far, idk if more books are planned) in Fated Mates of the Winged Barbarians we got a few answers about the goddesses and the temple, but there's still a lot we don't know!

What happens to the offerings, how does reproduction work?

I try to not read a whole series in a week because I want to savor it, but I also can't read it too slowly or I start to lose interest.
