if you read this, I hope you put your mental health FIRST. care for your needs and make yourself feel good. that you learn to tune in and take your feelings seriously. that you're gentler with yourself, a little kinder, a little less pushy.
my heart is heavy as I think of the people I have lost due to mental distress. by losing, I am not necessarily talking about a physical loss. but I've watched people burn out, lose themselves, lose connection to the people around them and try to find refuge in all the wrong places. they didn't have the resources, they felt alone in their pain, they couldn't do it on their own. and nobody is supposed to. 🦋 I have also watched people bounce back 🌞 including myself! 🦋
start somewhere. start with a loving intention. reconnect to your self. understand that you are worthy, you are enough and you matter. you deserve to feel good. even if the world makes you question this. you are born worthy and you can't lose your worth.
chances are, you've been unseen, unheard, neglected, abandoned, gaslit, ignored or abused in some other way before. don't be the one who does that to you, too. be a very good friend to yourself, be your own guardian angel.
• find an outlet for your thoughts.. write them down, speak them out loud; listen to yourself and validate your reality. again: you matter • find your way to eating for health AND pleasure • take time to connect with others and be present
• make your body feel good, use your senses
• think of yourself as a plant: you need water, sunlight, fresh air and a nurturing environment
• let tears take over, if they want to. let them flow. tears are transformation
• find an expert to talk to. if it wasn't common to experience mental health issues in our society, these experts wouldn't exist. they're trained to help. let them. you need to be heard. if you can't do it on your own, let them help you understand that you are worthy. I'm serious, you are.
• breathe. breathe. breathe. look around. take slow steps. be present. feel where you are. be there fully.
I don't care who you are, if you think of yourself as strong or weak. I'm sending you all my love.
