(7/30/26) The Red Cross just declared the second US blood crisis in its history.
Summer sees both a drop off in donations and, at least for our trauma center, a spike in traumas. Trauma centers across the US are in danger of running out of blood for our trauma patients TODAY, which is very scary but, unlike much of the other scary national news coming across our screens these days, is something you can help fix immediately and directly.
We need ASAP donations of blood, for people to spread the word, and for manager types to help facilitate others' donations. All blood types are needed, but universal donor blood (type O) is especially dire.
Many things that previously made people ineligible have been rolled back. If you previously thought you were ineligible, please consider checking current guidelines!
While O- is the most dire need as it can be safely given to anyone in an emergency, all types are needed! Our emergent release blood is being pulled for patients who have a high chance of death if they don't get blood within the hour. Once they're stabilized, they can have their type confirmed and get blood of a specific, matching type released to them so that O- can go to the patients who need it most.
Canada is also in a blood shortage, not just the US. Even if you're not in the USA or Canada, maybe check locally, especially if it's summer where you are.
For the people in the comments that somehow haven't gone to the website- if you're a queer man, you basically have to be a nun. Let's not get it twisted and say there aren't restrictions for gay sex. There are, by coincidence, for the vast majority of queer men who are sexually active and responsible.
Hey. If people aren't aware, Microsoft admitted they know who you and where you are at all times and will give your info to the police.
They have a Global Device Identifier (GDID) Tracker that functions as a fingerprint for your PC that can surpass VPNs, proxy servers and countries. Although it can't survive a clean reinstall of Windows (it can survive updates), because Microsoft forces you to go to the internet and log in into a Microsoft account, they will be able to get to you.
Microsoft kept it secret and it was only found out when the FBI tracked a hacker thanks to the information Microsoft gave them.
You should be paying attention to this, and possibly consider moving away from Windows. If a government, especially the US government, doesn't like you for some reason, this could be seriously concerning.

Two things back that up:
There’s no consent screen. A GDID gets assigned when you sign into a Microsoft Account. Apple’s advertising identifier needs an App Tracking Transparency prompt and a visible reset; Android’s works the same way. GDID has neither, and a Windows reinstall only gets you a new number Microsoft can still get back to the same account.
Then there’s activation. Massgrave, the group behind Microsoft Activation Scripts, notes that Windows setup sends hardware info to Microsoft and gets identifiers back, the same tokens later used for Store access and licensing: “It’s impossible to prevent Windows from getting a GDID without breaking activation and UWP app[s].” Anyone who lost a license after swapping a motherboard has already met a smaller version of this.

You can get and use windows 11 without logging in with a microsoft account, as of five days ago. I am a local user on my computer. Don't ask me how to do it, because my computer repair guy did it when he reinstalled windows, but there are tutorials out there. Refuse to connect to internet until you're set up and can use the computer freely.
Refusing to connect to the internet doesn't help. You have to open a Command Prompt (Shift+F10) and typing start ms-cxh:localonly (and pressing enter) during installation when you get to the sign in/create stupid ms account screen

Unless there's really really specific reasons to subject yourself to windows, please consider installing linux mint instead.
Look I know that a lot of people are "not good with computer" or have concerns about "playing AAA games" but I assure you that modern linux distros have a shitload more User Experience design than either Windows or OSX and unless otherwise documented, the vast majority of games either function fine or only needs specific launch options set to run as expected. It's not perfect, but it's eminently usable- obviously there are some companies that won't bake in proper anticheat, but I would argue those games are not worth playing. Please, get good with computer. Your privacy is going to depend on it, evidently.
One of the few things I will miss about Ohio when the time comes. Highbanks Metropark. Easily my second favorite so-called forest. (I do not like the "high banks" part so I tend to take the burial mound route rather than the overlook route)
First big 3d print. I did an ok job with the setting and welding but I would have liked to weld it a bit deeper into the base. I'm learning a lot! For future notes, stabilizer brackets and probably pre-taping the piss out of what I'm welding, or finding tape I can simply weld through. Some prints are simply too unwieldy but I chose this weeb shit on purpose to learn. The model I used was also poorly socketed. Now that the heat is nuts though I'm gonna have to wait a few days to get back to it.
