✒ I live in a boarding school, and have for the past 4 years. My first year went normally, the next two were spent at home due to the pandemic, and now I'm back to school.

✒ Because of this setup, I'm not very regular with social media, the only times I really get to post are Summer break, Winter break, and Diwali break.

Holy or godly things in Ancient Greek literature are often said to smell really good or be fragrant or perfumed. Which probably means that people associated religious rites with good smells.

You know. The good smell of roasting meat during a sacrifice, the burning of incense, people wearing perfumed oil, libations of wine and oil and other good things, cleaning things, woodsmoke, purification rites. Good smells associated with feeling connected with the gods and spirits, being purified, respecting your ancestors, doing your duty.

I think it’s funnier to interpret it as the gods wearing waaay too much perfume though. Like they walk into a room and it smells like a bath and body works.

Scents of any sort were prized by the Greeks, to the extent that the smell of a spice was often more important than its taste for determining its price. Perfumes and incense were incredibly valuable, often literally worth several times their weight in gold. I'm not sure the Greeks would necessarily agree that there even is such a thing as "too much perfume."

I mean-

Most people have a decent idea regarding oats and cornmeal (maize), so i wanna bring some attention to the hidden heroes of multigrain shit: millets! I've had quite a lot of these myself, in flatbreads mostly. They're super healthy, so i've been taught to include them in my diet since childhood. There's also, like, ragi Choco Cereal, and a bunch of bajra recipes on my aunt's side, and generally just stuff that wheat enjoyers might like. One of my comfort foods is a thick, crackly bajra roti (almost like a tortilla->nacho thing, but switch out maize for bajra and make it thick enough to be crumbly on the inside), with loads of melted homemade butter (unsalted ofc) and crushed jaggery from the sap of date palm trees. It's a dessert i eat almost every day at my grandma's home.

So yeah, millets rule😃✌
