racism literally bleeds through the cracks of everything and if you dare to even barely point it out everyone will kill you
racism runs so deeply in people that if you call it out you are calling out them, and instead of sitting down and examining their own racism they lash out at you for being sooo meansies to them. you don't even have to be talking about anyone's racist behavior in particular because it makes racists so uncomfortable they will come forward themselves and act like you're targeting them specifically. it's okay when they do it because they're doing it in the correct way, in the nice way! they don't mean it like that. in fact they're actually being progressive. you're the cruel one for acting like their racist behavior is racist. you're the problem if you're bothered by their comfort racism. you're the bitchy colored person who makes eeeverything about racism when it so clearly isn't. i'm fucking sick of this.

literally the worst way of ending a series is “all the survivors are happily straight married with tons and tons of babies!”
people still getting mad at this post i made in 2014 so I will add here. in 2026. that the point of this post isn’t “happy endings bad” its when the story’s only way to imagine a happy ending is a heterosexual nuclear family for everyone.
randomly remembered this tweet and had to stop myself from bursting out laughing
The eye doctor is the most fun doctor you can go to. They never steal your blood. They never make you get naked and put on a paper dress. They're just like, "Can you see these letters? It's fine if you can't, we can fix that." And they don't even spell anything.
good morning

Wow... Marvel fans actually compare the new Spider-Man's box office to Supergirl's to make fun of her for flopping...
Spider-Man is a character everyone knows and loves, in a multibillion-dollar franchise that has had over a decade to gather its audience, with other popular characters from the same franchise. It also has a popular actor people already know from several other movies in the same franchise, including the three Spider-Man movies he starred in before this one, and the movie is critically acclaimed.
Supergirl is a movie from a reboot of a dead franchise. It has just begun, and there has only been one movie before this where Supergirl had just one cameo. Supergirl had only one live-action movie before this, with a different actress, decades ago. There was also a Supergirl TV show recently, but with a different actress too, so people still don't know if they can trust this version of the character. Meanwhile, Spider-Man is getting a new movie every few years. Supergirl also has a much lesser-known actress in the lead role, had controversy surrounding the actress before the release, and is critically panned.
I love both movies, both characters, and both actors. They were great, and I hope they will portray these characters until they're 90. No criticism on any side. I'm just comparing the facts that many people pretend are irrelevant.
No, they are not the same thing.
Re: sailors on USS Abraham Lincoln on half rations.
Thousands of sailors on the USS Abraham Lincoln have reportedly faced food shortages and broken plumbing, with some considering jumping over
genuinely I'm so sick of people wanting all fiction to be ethical. can we all just get a little gross with it. the point of fiction is that it's not real. we can be unethical in fiction; same goes with being perverted with fiction, being unrealistic with fiction, and being grotesque with fiction. not all fiction has to be ethical, not every character has to be ethical, and that's okay. can we stop with the puritanism. be gross. be unrealistic. be whatever. if I don't like it it's not my business as long as we're all clear that its fictional.
via ered.bsky.social, the only kinds of unethical fiction:
people in the replies are going "what about books glorifying unethical things" and "what if it's propaganda" and you, my friends, are who this comic was made for
This is absolutely a sign of my age but a media trope that tickles me is when, in a story featuring a cast of teenagers saving the world or defeating the baddie with superpowers or whatever, there's one adult in the background worrying over things like health insurance in the middle of battle.
Maybe one day we can stop moralizing the concept of privilege & everyone will get normaler about being told they have relative privilege over other people. Like literally everyone everywhere in some way. It's fine. Being aware of it can't hurt you
There's such an endless chorus of outraged "but what if I'm poor? What if I'm autistic" and it's like. Ok. You're not getting this at all let's just start over
