what is it about capybaras that attracts groups of small animals to them? Its not just mammals either its like birds and turtles and frogs too
look at this shit
They radiate peace
capybaras are friend shaped
I love this post
This is actually a cool thing I know about!
In the wild capybaras live in large groups so naturally a female capybara will take care of not only her own offspring, but all of the other offspring in the group. So capybaras are super great mothers who will adopt pretty much anything and take care of it.
Lots of places that rescue different animals will give a group of baby animals to a capybara to raise if they have one.
Like puppies
Ducks
Deer
Emus
They are just super calm animals so theyâre naturally great at mothering or just existing in a group!
mom shaped
here are some more cute pictures of them with rats and bunnies :,)
This is probably the most useful take Iâve seen from a medical professional online. Iâm adding some extra notes because there are a lot of options out there and itâs REALLY confusing sometimes, but there are only a few actual ingredients in most over the counter cold meds. Hereâs some extra info you may find valuable:
Generic meds are fine, thereâs no need to buy name brands.Â
Motrin and Advil are both ibuprofen, so you can look for the generic of either
Guaifenesin is the most standard expectorant on the market, itâs in a huge number of cold medicines. Regular Mucinex is just plan guaifenesin with no cough suppressant.
The primary ingredient in Robitussin is dextromethorphan and it is a cough suppressant.
You will see a combination of those two ingredients in pretty much every over the counter cold/cough meds, including DayQuil/NyQuil.
Other ingredients youâre likely to run across, and what they do:
Doxylamine Succinate - itâs an antihistamine, but what itâs used for in most of these products is actually to make you sleepy. Youâll find this in NyQuil and other ânighttimeâ cold meds.
Pseudoephedrine - Youâve probably heard of this as Sudafed, and itâs basically the OG of decongestants. In the US you have to be 18 or older to purchase it, and it can only be purchased from behind the counter at a pharmacy. Why is it so hard to get? Because apparently people started buying it in large quantities to make meth. Good times, right? Some people find that Sudafed makes them jittery and awake, but Iâve never had that issue and find it works the best of decongestants Iâve tried. Go buy this NOW if you want to have it in case you get sick, it can completely disappear during cold and flu season.
Phenylephrine - this is ânewâ Sudafed. When youâre looking at cold products that are on the shelves that say they have a decongestant, this is what theyâre going to have in it. To me this is the useless cousin of pseudoephedrine, but thatâs just me.
Hope this helps some folks. As a cancer survivor and diabetic I get sick A LOT so I usually keep this stuff on hand and Iâve learned a lot about generic ingredients.Â
IMPORTANT! THANK YOU!!

A Rough Explanation of Witcher Elves
As requested by a lot of my followers, myself and a few friends ( @carangeas & @gynvaelrhena specifically ) put together some rough nâ dirty information of the witcher elves and their respective worlds. Hopefully this will help with those who plan to take up some elves who havenât been rpâd or in putting together a verse! To my fellow witcher friends, feel free to add on about important points! You CAN reblog this!
So the elves started as an ancient race called the Aen Undod on a whoooole other world. This ancient race has little information, but were said to possess great magical power known as Ard Gaeth, which allowed them to open the gate between worlds. Upon facing certain death due to the White Frost, or Tedd Deireadh, in their world, they began to search for others in which they could settle and  inhabit. From this search, they separated into two main groups of elves we encounter in the series: the Aen Elle and the Aen Seidhe, with the latter residing in what is known as âthe Continent,â which is the world where the series takes place, and the former in their own separate world, which we visit in the book Lady of the Lake, and in a mission titled âthrough time and spaceâ in Witcher 3.
THE AEN ELLE
While the two races of elves originally derived from one group, there are some differences namely in culture, physiology, and language (both speak Elder Speech, but different dialects of it; Aen Elle speak Ellylon, Aen Seidhe Hen Llinge), the Aen Elle are also much taller than the Aen Seidhe (which is most likely due to the differences in the availability of resources and evolution). The Aen Elle (or Alder Folk) discovered a separate world from the Aen Seidhe which was originally inhabited by humans, as well as a smaller race of âgrey elves.â Soon they became the dominant species of this world, and essentially imperialized, and established their capital, Tir nĂĄ Lia, under the rule of their king Auberon Muircetach. This allowed them to pursue the cultivation of their own magic abilities, armies, and knowledge of the arcane, both through the use of eugenics and the research of powerful sages known as Aen Saevherne, or âKnowing Ones.â These sages can also be found amongst the Aen Seidhe. The Aen Saevherne of the Alder Folk are perhaps best known for their work with eugenics, where they would bring together pairs of elves possessing powerful magical abilities to create even more powerful offspring. This led to the creation of what is known as the Elder Blood, or Hen Ichaer in elder speech, which is a powerful genetic line that originated in Lara Dorren aep Shiadhal, who possessed the power to travel through time and space, and open the gate between worlds once more.
The Elder Blood is very important to both elven races, as it is said that a child of the Elder Blood will save them from annihilation in accordance to Ithlinneâs Prophecy. Unfortunately for them, whatever plans the Aen Elle had for Lara Dorren and her child were dashed away once she fell in love with a powerful human mage, Cregenan of Lod, in the world of the Aen Seidhe. Depending on who tells the story, the lovers were either torn apart by humans or by the hatred of elves, but Lara went on to bear a daughter and died. While the blame for the deaths of the lovers is debatable (though it is suggested that the truer version is that the humans attacked the couple, since the Aen Seidhe accepted Cregenan and his ideas of humans and elves coming together), the Aen Elle believe they were robbed of the Elder Blood by Cregenan and have been pursuing it ever since. This is where the plot of Lady of the Lake, and the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt come into play.
Ciri, is a descendent of Lara Dorren, and therefore possesses Elder Blood. In the books she travels to the world of the Aen Elle where she meets Avallacâh, an Aen Saevherne who Lara was originally intended to marry. She is told she has to pay back the debt left by Cregenan, and bear the child of their king Auberon in order to return to her own world.
This however, does not go as planned, for over time the elves lose potency. Eredin Breacc Glas, general of the army, suggests that Ciri give the king something that supposedly will help things speed along, but it actually ends up killing the king. Whether this was on purpose or an accident is debatable, but Ciri flees the world of the Aen Elle and is then pursued by Eredin and his Dearg Ruadhri, known as the Red Riders. More commonly known as, The WIld Hunt.
The Red Riders are basically the army of the Aen Elle, they protect the elves from the unicorns, who they have been at war with ever since they settled in their world. The Red Riders are able to travel between worlds through the utilization of mage navigators, who are able to lead Eredin and his armies through pre-existing portals, but cannot travel as freely between worlds as someone containing the Elder Blood can. Over the centuries, they have come to be known as the Wild Hunt in other worlds, a spectral force that rides through the night sky, and leaves nothing but death and misfortune in their wake. For in their pursuit of the Elder Blood, the Red Riders have been known to kidnap children (specifically in the Aen Seidhe world) who they believe to be Laraâs descendents, and abduct elves to join their ranks. They are the main antagonists as they continue to chase Ciri, in hopes of exploiting her powers to take over the world of the Aen Seidhe, and save the the Aen Elle from annihilation for the White Frost is imminent in their world.
THE AEN SEIDHE
When the elves broke into two parts, the elves which would later call themselves the Aen Seidhe sailed via portal into the southern tip of the witcher world. They settled, gaining land either through agreement with the gnomes or through war with the dwarves who were already present in the world. At the time, they were the only three races on that world and eventually a tenuous peace was found between them. As the Aen Seidhe spread northward and erected palaces and temples, they were met with the arrival of humans who arrived 2,000 years later when the Conjunction of the Spheres occurred and poured magic, monsters, and humans into their world.
Now the next bit is kind of a series of rinse and repeat when it comes to the Aen Seidhe and humans:
At first elves did not trust the humans into their lands but eventually took human children behind their city gates to train them in magic learned from the elven sages.
Humans later betrayed their would-be allies and essentially massacred elves regardless of status, age, or gender in Loc Muinne and Est Haemlet. From then on and it was total war with elves vs humans for centuries, with brief instances of peace and even interbreeding. A lot of the older elves disliked this because it muddled some of their magic abilities over time. And was a part to losing contact with the Aen Elle. So when shit the fan again interbreeding was a big nono, especially after an Aen Elle appeared by the name of Lara Dorren (Ciriâs ancestor).
Uprisings occurred on and off, one the most famous ones being Aelirennâs uprising against the humans, which took place some 200 years before the events of Blood of Elves. Â Aelirenn is mentioned in both games/books as a charismatic Aen Seidhe lady who gathered a large army of the elven, gnomish, and dwarven youth into fighting human oppression, only for them be decimated devastatingly in Shaerrawedd.
Eventually humans outbred the elves, whose women could no longer reproduce at faster rates except every twenty years and were most fertile only in their first century. Elves resented that for some reason the women being close to human males made them more likely to conceive(hormonal shit essentially). Humans overthrew the elves, burnt their cities, massacred kingdoms and villages, pushed them to âthe edge of the the worldâ until all they had left was the very historic valley Lara Dorren had died in, Dol Blathanna aka the Valley of the Flowers. In the short story The Edge of the World, Geralt encounters a group of elves led by Toruviel and the former king of Dol Blathanna, Filavandrel, who have been stealing grain from a human village in order to combat the famine their people were facing as humans surrounded their lands. Dol Blathanna, over time, was taken from them.
So at last when the last bit of elven land was taken and the elves were forced into the Blue Mountains, a string of rebel freedom fighter groups rose up. Later they would become known as scoia'tael. A southern human empire by the name of Nilfgaard extended their hand to these struggling elves when they offered a deal: form a guerilla group of elves to ride to the north and cause havoc so the northern kingdoms cannot defend themselves when Nilfgaard invades. In return, they would grant the Aen Seidhe sovereignty over Dol Blathanna. This army became known as the Vrihedd Brigade, characterized by lightning bolts on their sleeves.
The short story called Times of Contempt tells of the coup d'etat that follows after the elves agreed, in which they followed the elven sorceress Francesca Findabair in to destroy the entire conclave of sorcerers and sorceresses who were all essentially shadow ruling behind the Kings/Queens of the north. What changed was that once they took it over, the surrounding kingdoms were in an uproar by the deceit, but allowed the elves to keep Dol Blathanna as an independent elven nation on one condition: Francesca Findabair, the new Queen of the elves, had to denounce the elven brigade which had helped Nilfgaard in the north as war criminals.
Knowing that Nilfgaard would eventually betray them, the Queen conceded and at an event called the âPeace of Cintraâ leaders of the brigade were taken to a human prison and 53 out of the 55 were brutally killed. The only two leaders whom survived and escaped were two commanders called Iorveth and Isengrim. From then on all the nonhumans whom were associated with the scoia'tael were left shut off and helpless from family or aid in Dol Blathanna, left to fend for themselves. Many left the Continent altogether to explore the better futures in the undiscovered world.
Which leads to the scoia'tael turning into perceived terrorists and bandits who sought only to kill humans for what they did. It was later on during the events of Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings that a former Vrihedd brigade member named Iorveth gathered the remaining scoiaâtael units in the Temerian kingdom and Pontar region to join forces with humans and other nonhumans in order to create an independent & coexisting kingdom under Queen Saskia the dragonslayer. Many Aen Seidhe and other nonhumans, who had been living in poverty and danger outside the cities of humans, fled to the free city of Vergen. For a year, this independent state won its sovereignty and even flourished before Nilfgaard invaded and dispersed its army and people. The scoiaâtael and other Aen Seidhe were scattered once more to the wind, suggesting a slow and painful end to the once infamous freedom fighters of the elves, turning them to bandits, thieves, and refugees once more in the events of Witcher 3.

Watching that one tik tok ferret slap its own ass to psych myself up for this interview
Todayâs highlights in my ongoing project to read through and transcribe the letters of Rachel (a wealthy Victorian girl at boarding school on the East Coast in the 1890s) includeâŠ
Rachelâs cousin Will and his Yale roommate Allen both have the measles. Rachel shows limited sympathy (âPoor boy!â), before immediately mocking them and calling them âchildishâ for getting a disease only little kids get.
Rachel and her roommate âBâ (It stands for Bertha!) attempted to steal a sign (what sort idk) from a fair they went to but found they âwere carefully guardedâ. She wishes Will could have been there to help.
Will has a crush on a girl named Jenny, who Rachel knows, and is constantly asking Rachel if Jenny has mentioned him.
âBâ often sits next to Rachel as she writes and suggests things to add to the letter or just generally distracts her.
Will and Jack, who are brothers, donât write to each other. They write to Rachel and tell her to write to the other and pass on a message for them. Rachel keeps asking why they do this, but goes along with it anyways.
Rachel always explains why there are ink blots or areas of sloppy writing in her letters. Explanations so far include such classics as: the dinner bell just rang, itâs after lights-out and Iâm writing this in the dark, âBâ is shaking my arm, âBâ is kissing me, this pen is broken, the postman is almost here, and there was a bee.
For her 18th birthday Rachel received: a new Kodak camera, eighteen white rosebuds, silver manicure scissors, a pair of shell side combs, a silver pencil, and a vase of pink roses. However her favorite present was from her father who wrote to say she could just buy her own present and he would pay for it.
Rachel is always mentioning the pictures she takes with her Kodak. I wish I knew what happened to them.Â
In addition to CalvĂ©, Marlowe and Sothern, Rachel has now also gone to see performances by Ellen Terry, Henry Irving, John Philip Sousa, Ignacy Jan Paderewski (playing the piano, not governing Poland), and freaking Sarah Bernhardt!Â
Rachel likes to put question marks in the middle of sentences to denote sarcasm; i.e. âI am very ? sorry for you.â and âMen were not excluded and we had the pleasure ? of meeting several.â
Your 1890s slang word of the day: âsquelchâ (verb) - to be lectured or punished for something. Example: âI expect to be squelched unmercifully by mama and papa.â Can also be used as a noun as in: âThis term we have had nothing but squelches.â
Iâm so pleased with this 1890s precedent for mid-sentence Question Marks of Sarcasm and Insincerity
i think his funniest tweet is the pic of just the oval office but it has a gamer chairÂ

Things Terry Pratchett Did
Made fun of the âunnecessarily naked/scantily clad woman,â âsacrificial virgin,â and âsexy heroineâ tropes in his first two novels. The first was described as being the most powerful of her clan of dragon-riders and the nakedness was properly treated as unnecessary in a clear parody. The second turned out to be one of the more level-headed (while not well-educated) members of the party after her initial introduction, and also had a spine and knew (and got) what she wanted. The third was described as wearing sensible clothes, was pretty but not sexualized at all, and was practical and smart.
Wrote an entire novel to critique the unequal treatment of âmenâs magicâ versus âwomenâs magicâ in the fantasy genre. Portrayed witches as just as if not more capable than wizards (when it comes to actually helping people, in particular), and also generally having more common sense than them. Nevertheless created a little girl character with wizard powers, and had her decide neither wizard nor witch magic was sufficient and develop a new kind of magic all her own.
Included sex workers in his worldbuilding. Made jokes about them the same way he did every other kind of person of any profession, but was also highly respectful and never critical of these jobs. Described the head of the âSeamstressesâ Guild as one of the most influential people in the biggest city in the world. Never showed or described in detail any sexual violence, including against these workers. In fact, made sure to say that anyone in the city who harmed a sex worker would be dealt with painfully, embarrassingly, and/or lethally by two fearsome elderly ladies. Even his more ditzy stripper character quickly smartened up and learned some true self-respectânot by quitting her job but by realizing she didnât have to take any shit from men.
Included strong female friendships aplenty. Included female enemies who were enemies over things other than men. In general constantly passed the Bechdel Test and not only that, left it in the dust and had way more meaningful and realistic representation.
Five words: Dwarf Women Are All Trans. More words: And thereâs no way to know if some of them were trans in the way we Earth humans would understand it, too, and he clearly didnât think that sort of genitalia-based gender labeling mattered. Did not turn his trans dwarfs into a joke, but treated them simply as peopleâincluding a scientist/forensics officer in a police department, a prominent fashion designer, and the literal King of all dwarfs (who subsequently came out as Queen). Portrayed transmisogynists as unequivocally wrong, and had protagonist characters stand up for and protect their trans colleagues and friends. See also: had genderfluid characters in two of his books and at least one trans man, as well as confirming canonically that there are gay wizards, one of whom is really good at football.
One of his mainest of main characters was a blunt, bad-tempered, prideful old woman who is also good to her core. Â Didnât gloss over her unfriendliness or excuse it, but made her complex and interesting and overall likeable despite all that. Â Also had a very amiable old lady character who also had a temper and would throw hands with anyone whoâd mess with her family or best friend. Â In general, steel-souled old ladies, wow. Â Also steel-souled young girls. Â
Said he was incapable of writing a weak, wilting female character, and honestly I canât think of a single one in any of his books.
Please feel free to add to this list with other Things Terry Pratchett Did because I definitely didnât say them all!
I will forever be grateful for the sentence âLady Ramkinâs bosom rose and fell like an empire.âÂ
in a book where lady Ramkinâs husband killed a werewolf with his bare hands she herself established diplomatic and economic power to finesse an end to what was happening because she proved she didnt have to hold a sword to be powerful â Sybilâs female forebears had valiantly backed up their husbands as distant embassies were besieged, had given birth on a camel or in the shade of a stricken elephant, had handed around the little gold chocolates while trolls were trying to break into the compound, or had merely stayed at home and nursed such bits of husbands and sons as made it back from endless little wars. The result was a species of woman who, when duty called, turned into solid steel â she also established she didnt have to conform to traditional standards of âsexyâ to be held in awe, be breathtaking, and be seen as beautiful despite being described physically like the entire cast of a wagner opera and moving like a galleon under full sail. Sgt Angua joined the watchmen specifically out of spite for a poster that said âbe a man in the watchâ, alongside a troll and dwarf who also had similar objections
not only did dwarf women explore being âwomenâ at no point did it interfere with them being dwarves- the chainmail might be from a more designer catalogue and the high heels might be iron and the beard certainly didnt go anywhere and a battleaxe is the best way to accessorize. it was all about having the option to explore who they were and express that, and it was also perfectly okay to decide you didnt want to be open about it if you didnt feel like it nanny ogg NANNY OGG not only was an elderly woman described as having a long lifetime of healthy sexual appetite she was still painted as being one of the most well respected, powerful, and cunning people for miles despite drinking, singing bawdy songs, and telling the worst jokes. she wrote a bestselling lewd cookbook.
halflings love their new giant children
âSo, MisterâŠGRAAAAGH Underhill-by-Sackville, is it?â âIndeed.â âYouâre an Orc, but you donât mention any clanâŠ.â âOh, Iâm culturally Hobbitish, I was adopted at a very young age. And Iâm very keen on this position you have open at your trading house.â âThe guard position?â âHeavens, no. I barely know which end of a sword goes into the miscreant. I am a certified accountant, and eager to make my mark in respectable society.â
I want to read about the Halfling who was responsible for Recent Events, personally.
if you must know, her name is Tabitha Smallburrow and over a handful of years she adopted 3 orcs, 2 tieflings, 7 tabaxi (had mistaken them for a litter of kittens when they were put up for adoption in the neighboring city) and finally one very unwilling and fully grown dwarf

Human vs Animals
Every year, in a small Welsh town, there is a race between riders on horseback and runners on foot. Evidently he above subject came under some discussion in a bar, and a bet was made, which resulted in a challenge people have recreated every year since. The race features dozens of horses versus a similar number of runners, and while a horse usually wins, it is always pretty close, and SOMEtimes, sometimes a human runner wins.
The race is 22 miles long. It is shorter than a standard human marathon. This is so that it is fair to the horses. A typical marathon is 26 miles long. A healthy distance for a horse to undertake in a single day for the purpose of travel is between 20 and 30 miles, but only if they walk at least part of the way. The years a human runner has won the race, the weather has been hot, as heat also favors human runners.
Interestingly, if the race is only ten to fifteen meters, 30 - 45 feet, a human can also win against a horse, which takes longer than a human to get up to full speed.
This fact of human capability for pursuit hunting and distance running is also part of why we have partnered with dogs for so much of our time on this planet. Dogs and wolves also engage in pursuit hunting, and sled dogs in particular can run miraculous distances due to some very interesting biological processes.Â
Interesting
