growing up I was always afraid of being Found Out. not sure what I was hiding. just my whole self I guess
it...went really fucking badly here in texas. cops pretty regularly had to get called on people who walked in knowing the establishment was nonsmoking and lit up and got aggressive about it. like...that was just dinner and entertainment for a solid year after shit went nonsmoking here.
there was also screaming outrage about mandatory seatbelts. in the 90s, "cancel culture" was called "PC police".
this is how a certain group of people have always been about changes, especially when those changes require them to do something to make life better for others. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yesterday at FYE i bought a plushie and dude didnt give me a bag just the boy and a receipt and i was like "hey bro can you give me a bag i really dont wanna be carrying this around the mall" and he was like "why are you ashamed to carry him"
"WHY are you ashamed of your SON? "
To be honest.. if more children were shown from birth that they are loved, cared for, and listened no matter their gender we might not have some of the problems we have now.
Parents: Aloof disdain! Shun! Distance!
Also Parents: Why doesn’t my child talk to me?
A few weeks ago, we exhibited at Emerald City Comicon. Typically when we attend conventions, we try to create some spectacle that captures people’s attention and sells games. Like the time we brought a marching band to PAX Australia.
At ECCC, we set up a “Pay What You Want” booth and encouraged people to give us any amount of money in exchange for our games. We put games on a table, set up some signs, stood off to the side, and waited to see what would happen.
We brought 2000 games. Before the convention began, we took bets on what would happen:
Tom thought we’d sell out in a few hours.
Alex thought we’d run out on the of the second day of the con.
Trin thought that we would not run out of games because we are no longer cool or relevant.
Jenn got a fever and didn’t know what was happening.
We were all wrong.
The doors opened, and attendees swarmed the booth. Within five minutes attendees realized they could just take games and walk away. A small group grabbed armfuls of free games and left, but most people paid something. Within an hour, the booth looked like this:
We ran out of games in 51 minutes.and made $8042.48, or 18.7% of the games’ retail value. In other words, we lost $685.44 per minute.
Attendees put lots of other stuff in the payment box too.
Some things you put in our box:
Five Canadian Dollars ($3.72 USD)
Ten Euros ($10.66 USD)
Eighty Philippine Pesos ($1.59 USD)
One Chinese Yuan ($0.14 USD)
One Cubone Pokemon Card, XY Breakthrough (Avg price - $0.68 USD)
One Magic: The Gathering Eternal Masters booster pack wrapper (No Value)
One handwritten “Any Pizza Free” and “Twisted Flicks + KPC” Coupon from a Papa Murphy’s in Kirkland, WA (Estimated Value $25.00 USD)
One $1 Bill folded into a bowtie ($1.00 USD)
One “FeelTheBurn.org” $1 bill. ($1.00 USD)
Two halves of a $1 bill ($1.00 USD )
Once we sold out, we had to figure out what to do with our booth space.
On Saturday, we gave our space to artists who weren’t able to get a table at the con. People showed up to exhibit cosplay horns, board games, recycled journals, and comic art.
On the last day of the con, we set up a station for mailing letters to representatives.
We provided pens, paper, postage, envelopes, writing tips, and the address of every US Senator.
Over 200 letters were written by con attendees, including the most bad ass Imperator Furiosa cosplayer we’ve ever seen.
We’re still waiting on Immortan Trump’s response.
cards against humanity is run by the pure force of chaos I stg. I like what they did with their booth after tho

AS IN THIS CHRISTOPHER ECCLESTON???
The self-described working-class actor also says that cultural inequality is “much more pronounced” in Britain than it used to be, and that it would be difficult for a young actor with his background to succeed in the industry today.
“You can’t blame Eddie Redmayne or Benedict Cumberbatch but inequality will lead to a milky, anodyne culture. To an extent that’s already happened,” he argues.
Eccleston stresses that it’s not just about the working class though. “There’s not enough writing for women or people of colour” he says. “It frustrates me when they insist on doing all-male Shakespearean productions – a wonderful intellectual exercise, maybe, but it’s outrageous because it’s putting a lot of women out of work.”

this quote is tangentially related, but I think it helps show where this is coming from. he’s already very aware of Britain’s cultural inequality (maybe even experienced it himself, idk), and who better represents that inequality than the parasite queen herself?
And this is why Christopher Eccleston basically got blacklisted from the BBC for about 10 years
Eccleston used his native accent for the Doctor because he wanted to challenge the stereotype of Mancunians as uneducated and ignorant, so yeah, this has been his hill for a while now (and it’s a good hill).
i really want his doctor to meet jodie whitakers

we’ve got tv shows about people who pretend to be psychic but are just really observant. I want a tv show about someone who’s actually psychic but has to pretend to just be really observant.
the main character is just constantly having to bullshit their way through improbable Holmes-style deductions to explain how they know all the things that they’ve accidentally divined
This show exists. Psych.
Why is every piece of media now about “surprise! bet you didn’t see that coming” instead of themes, character arcs, internal logic, and consistency in writing?
It’s okay if your audience (especially hardcore fans) predicts your story. It means that they picked up the clues you put in, understood the themes you were trying to convey, empathised with the characters…
How is that a bad thing?
Instead each piece of media feels like it’s written by a marketing team that is looking at the latest statistics for TRP ratings and box-office collections.
lilo was PEAK weird little girl representation like. all “weird” disney characters just fall under quirky cute no lilo was IT. she gave peanut butter sandwiches to a FISH because IT CONTROLLED THE WEATHER. the range
she gave peanut butter sandwiches to pudge the fish to prevent storms like the one that killed her parents in their driving accident
sometimes weird to us isn’t so weird to a young trauma victim
Today in ridiculously ignored Trump news!
Not a recipe, but a general advice: cutting stuff can take some spoons and for that case its crucial to have a good knife to make it as easy as possible! For this I present you this victorinox knife
cost very little for a quality brand like this so you can even afford a few to always have at least one clean knife
Stays sharp for AGES, I use mine for >3 years and its still perfectly sharp so no dull knife struggle
very light and small so no heavy weight to strain your wrist
cuts literally EVERYTHING without an issue. All kinds of meat? Warm bread? Tomatoes? Herbs? No problem. I even open some pesky packaging with it when I cant find scissors. Its just that good.
Comes in different colors, not only easier to spot in the kitchen but also happy colors makes for happier cooking time (at least for me)
did I mention how DIRTY CHEAP it is?
It really changed my life folks. One warning, you have to be careful with it because it is *sharp* - but a bit of respect and its gonna change your life like it changed mine.
