see the reason hermione can’t be a ravenclaw is because she wants definite answers to everything, she wants to be right, she wants the world to be rational and explainable and solveable

whereas you look at luna lovegood, actual ravenclaw, and her response to the door’s ‘which came first, the phoenix or the flame?’ question - she answers ‘i think the answer is a circle which has no beginning’, to which the door replies 'well reasoned’. not correct, not the right answer, not even the best answer maybe, but it’s a good answer, and it’s accepted. the way hermione thinks, she would spend ages trying to find the correct answer and sit outside the door for a week
