Exactly 1 week from today I will be on a plane with 2 of my closest friends on our way to Israel for 2 whole weeks 🙌🏾 and while i have a MOUNTAIN of work to tackle before I leave - including but not limited to: midterms, moving out of my apt, staying on track w/ my consulting work, locking down 1 new client (aka sending out a contract and bank wire info 😬) and still taking care of myself & maintaining my #bodymindspirit connection 🙏🏾 - it's finally starting to sink in that I'm about to embark on another one of life's fantastic adventures!!! I am SO ready to receive ALL the messages and ALL the blessings that will for sure be delivered to me through this trip. Going into hermit mode somewhat until I leave, because adulting 😒, but come Sunday 3/19 ya girl will be lighting up the Gram ✨ can't wait to share what I can of my Israeli experiences 😬 This trip is sure to be one for the books! 📚 ps. thinking about giving the braids a comeback for this trip cuz I miss them and I'm lazy. Can't take the entire day off (because deadlines...) but I had to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible collective strength of all women. We are healers and nurturers, we are movers of mountains, we are innovators, we are creators of life, we are lovers, we are oracles, we are everything and more. I am so proud to be a strong woman, and I feel blessed to walk this path, as challenging as it may be at certain points. How rewarding and ultimately empowering that despite it ALL, we continue to persist and transcend that which seeks to limit, control, or oppress! On the transformational power of loving your True Self ::: When you can be your true self around someone without fear of rejection, you're demonstrating a kind of confidence that emanates from a deep and unconditional self-love (which for most of us takes years of work & practice to cultivate! I'm still workin on it personally), and also practicing non-attachment & total acceptance. I've learned that you have to love all parts of yourself (even the dark parts - we all have them) and be comfortable sharing them with another person if you want to grow in love with them (rather than "falling in love" blindly, before you really know someone.) And the practicing of non-attachment basically just boils down to not being attached to circumstances or outcomes. This is one of the HARDEST things to work towards, because in a sense that's what makes us vulnerable. By opening our hearts yet remaining unattached we leave ourselves open to the potential pain of loss. But that feeling of loss, or even the fear of it, is only a result of our sense of attachment to a thing or a person (aka EGO!) The Ego is alwaysss attaching itself to ideas, people, and things. But the True Self (your God-self) is absolutely capable of non-attachment. Practicing non-attachment is one way to help us break free from our egos, but that doesn't mean being emotionally unavailable...there is a huge difference (and I am finally learning the difference 🙏🏾) I see now that if you can detach yourself from the "outcome" of the relationship, and practice true acceptance (que sera, sera 🙏🏾) you liberate yourself from having to spend your time worrying whether your heart will get broken or not. Instead you can just be present, and bring your True Self to every moment. How freeing, right?!!! ✨💞🙌🏾 #JustMyTwoCents #TransformationTuesday #MoreLove #MoreLife

And so it begins!! The first of the 5 Maine Brigade birthdays of 2017. @lilybullitt you already know how much I love you!! How much I appreciate the past (almost) 24 years of friendship that we've shared. So I'll just mention 1 memory that illustrates how lucky I am to get to call you one of my oldest and dearest friends. I will NEVER forget that day in 8th grade when you showed up unannounced to my house (after I had gone home from school crying) with a card and a Hershey's bar and the most needed hug ever. To you it wasn't a big deal, maybe not even something you'd ever think about or remember, but I think about it every time I think of how awesome you are, how caring, thoughtful and how fucking WOKE you are. Never stop being who you are - you are such a beautiful and old soul. Thank you for years of support, laughter, and Judy cookies (her mom literally makes the best cookies on the PLANET 🍪🍪🍪) I'm sooooo grateful for you! Running into this week like 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️happy Monday loves! Just because your weekend is over (or coming to a close if you have today off!) doesn't mean you have to choose between work/day-to-day responsibilities and your self-care practices. The keyword here is PRACTICE. And consistency is key if you are working toward any goal in life. Creating a consistent yet malleable self-care practice can seem hard if you don't hold yourself accountable for actually practicing, and down right daunting if you feel like you don't even know how to get started. Wherever you are, however scared you are, or scattered you feel, do yourself a favor and just get started. Do something that feels like you loving on yourself. Take a hot bath and listen to your fave music. Grab your mat and flow thru some yoga. Close your laptop and cook yourself your favorite dishes. Go for a run in Central Park. Book a massage at your fave spa, or ask your boo to trade massages (way more fun in my opinion 😬)...the point is that there are SO many ways to practice self-care! There are also SO many ways we create excuses in our everyday routines NOT to incorporate any self-care into our day. Part of MY self-care these days means knowing when to cut back re: what I take onto my plate (figuratively speaking, not literally...ya girl loves to eat 😬) and not do too much...HOWEVER, that being said I feel like I (and maybe some of you?) would really benefit from and enjoy some kind of self-care group gathering thingy-ma-bob. Maybe in NYC to start? And then maybe we do a retreat in Tulum in the fall? Would love to hear your thoughts or feedback if this sounds interesting to you! Mama - I love you because you are the embodiment of strength and love. Thank you for loving me so much (long before I loved Me,) and planting that seed of endurance in me, which keeps me going even when I am tired and don't feel like "going." 💞💞💞💞Admittedly it's easy for me to get wrapped up in the day-to-day of life...especially these days, juggling being back at NYU, consulting work, and my self-care practices & coaching... but when you learn how to cultivate self-love, loving others becomes effortless.
