What?! Â How is this so good?
Spotify. You always know. #smoothadultcontemporary #80s #1981 #firelight #freezingcoldnight #socoldtho (at Harlem N. Y.)
So good.
And the award for most bizarre and poorly timed traffic report goes to...
Starship!
So many questions. Â Like- WHO plays the Mambo? Â Macaroni? Â Or is it the MambA (as in the highly venomous snake)? Â Or does Mark Oni play La Bamba? Â Ugh.
Yes to all of the above
The art of dance, sweat, and slow-mo sex faces are all brought you by Sylvester & Frank Stallone in the sequel to Saturday Night Fever.
Highest recommendation!  This podcast is BRILLIANT.  I am obsessed with Staying Alive.  The original poster (autographed by JT) hangs on my living room wall.  It’s the only framed art I have.  There’s no blog post deep enough to explain my devotion to everything Staying Alive.
Watch this trailer. Â Watch the movie. Â Listen to this podcast. Â Consider owning the soundtrack. Â The fever still burns.
I WANT YOUR SAX
What is it about the saxophone that floods our basement? Clinton was cool when he played it, Gerry Rafferty haunted us with Baker Street (wanna hear it on loop for 15 minutes?/ you’re welcome), Sexy Sax Man = internet hilarity. Â
It’s the bedroom voice of the brass section.  The Barry White of the wind instruments, if you will.  A clarinet (lame) and a french horn (the retarded off spring of a trumpet and a trombone) had sex and the baby was a sax.  And, somehow, it’s a genetic masterpiece.
I like to believe that today’s rap feature was influenced by the 80′s sax solo.  Let’s give credit where credit’s due and remember some of the OG’sÂ

Even when I was 9 years old I knew a harsh contour when I saw one.Â
Furthermore, Bobby Dall is in a Cher wig, right? That’s some Party City Couture, Dall.
Rikki Rockett, serving a sensible hoop earring too.
You Bring Me Joy from Zach Galifianakis.  This went viral years ago but I’m NOT OVER IT
Anita Baker’s Rapture album is obviously one of the great R&B breakout moments of the 80′s/ All Time.  My friend Caroline and I tried to sing “You Bring Me Joy” on multiple road trips but, you know, #whitegirlproblems.  But this video kills me and I die and I can’t and I will not!
Also.  We should all be following Anita on Twitter.  She’s spiritual, inspired, and still sings it down, henny.  Let’s also talk about how she always has her manicure on point.  Always.  Respect.
Apollonia 6 (Brenda Bennett, Apollonia Kotero, & Susan Moonsie), 1984
I live for you Apollonia. Â But what is happening to the teddy bear. Â Why the teddy bear? Â #netting #sexshooter #apollonia #apollonia6 #6nips #furryfetish
Kelly LeBrock, 1981
You are the perfect woman but... I’m, like, relllll confused about the eye patchÂ
I’m Facebook friends with Robby Benson.
I have an audition tomorrow (#betablockers). One of the songs I was told to learn is “We Are Not Alone,” which underscored the famous dance montage in the 1985 film The Breakfast Club.  Of course we all love that scene in the movie.  But now I know MORE.
The growling rock vocal on “We Are Not Alone” is by Karla Devito.  She. Is. Badass.  Some misc creds:  She was Meatloaf’s main beltress on his Bat Out Of Hell Tour, she sang bgvs for Blue Oyster Cult ( I got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell!), she was the opening act for Hall & Oats AND Rick Springfield. Â
Check out this permed, stripe-y, suspender realness:
And
Her husband is Robby Benson.  He wrote the song.  I’m friends with him on Facebook and I have no idea why that is.  Facebook friends since February 2012.  Hmmmm.  Maybe a sign.  Of....something? #ineedajob
Now.  Let’s go to detention.
Magic moments include
:23- THE quintessential dance of the decade
:36- Pops his collar. Â But no collar.
:57- Emilio proving that he’s not only an air drummer (see :28), but an epic air guitarist
1:08- the homoerotic brah dance! (aka Anthony Michael Hall bicep sandwich)
1:13- and now the dainty version please
1:22- mental breakdown-ography at it’s best
