Human Plantation, Love Love Hill [purchase here]

Plant-themed femme body horror short comics anthology from Toronto based manga collective Love Love Hill. As you may know, femme body horror comics are VERY much my wheelhouse, so when I saw this at TCAF I obviously had to pick it up. I like that each piece had kind of an artist’s statement at the end talking about the approach they took to the assigned theme. Nice to see some people who had never or rarely done horror comics taking a shot at my favourite genre!

Highlights: “Rhododendron” by Linda Tea, “Housebound” by Laura Tryon and “Voice” by Powerswithin.

Meags Fitzgerald (Long Red Hair), Sophie Goldstein (The Oven), Marguerite Bennett (Insexts), and Kim Hoang (Love Love Hill) buckle in for a spirited discussion of the Female Gaze vs the Male Gaze, the power of female fandom, and the way girls and women have always read comics… so it’s about time we catered to them more! Kaled Scope - Of The Deep

Yay! usachii and I finished our 3rd piece in the Kaled Scope series. The Kaled Scope series is where we make fantasy-themed paintings together by passing a digital painting back and forth. This time, a sea dragon!
