warrior who came to me for advice: i just don’t know if i should listen to the telepathic trees, who say i should save the forest, or my adopted wolf mother, who says i should cut it down to build my city. that’s why i came to you… should i go with Psi Ents or Dog Ma?
me: your existence feels fairly contrived
Anxiety is stupid because your brain will go ‘what if they kill me with hammers for talking to them’ and it’s people you talk to regularly who have never given any indication that they’d kill you with hammers
house of leaves is a book about a guy going insane over a guy going insane over a guy going insane and soon enough you're the guy going insane over the guys going insane
the moment i start getting shirts or plushies manufactured to sell u can just shoot in the head, i'd be past saving at that point
i should clarify, I think it's great to make your own plushes to sell, screen printing your own shirts or tote bags etc to sell, or working with an independent printing studio! merchandising's biggest problem here is getting this merchandise mass produced, which often uses exploitative practices and creates incredible environmental waste, all to make a product no different then the stuff found on store shelves
getting something mass produced used to be super novel and seemed really exciting when i was younger, it served as proof of legitimacy, but at some point you gotta get over that, find legitimacy through your own means rather then creating ethically dubious shaped products made of 100% plastic when i thought we wanted to make art
i whole heartedly believe that grace being alone at the bar on the last night before the crew went into space solidified how stratt and others around him saw his life
from outside perspective he looks isolated, unhappy, and lonely. especially in comparison to everyone around him. most people are laughing, smiling, and chatting. they're also not alone. they have other people they're enjoying their time with. in comparison to grace, they're having a much better time if held to conventional standards.
but that's where people, especially stratt, misunderstood him til the very end. just because he was alone, and wasn't enjoying his time as outwardly as other people, doesn't mean that he wasn't actually having fun. it doesn't mean that he wasn't apart of the moment. it doesnt mean that he wasn't apart of the comradery.
which by extension, is how they viewed his life. just because he lived a conventionally lonely life, people believed that he didn't live a good one. that, by some weird logic, his life held less meaning.
ryland grace had a good life. he loved his job. he loved earth. he loved his students.
but that didn't matter to people in the grand scheme of things. he was still sitting alone at the bar. that's all they saw.
in absolute tears about the pride module at my work
HOLY SHIT GUYS, I WAS INSPIRED BY THIS POST TO TRY MAKE THE SONG AND YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE THE SCREAM I SCRUMPT WHEN I DRAGGED THE TRAINING AUDIO OVER THE BACKING TRACK AND IT LINED UP PERFECTLY
Tempted to actually put this on spotify so I can secretly stream it at work...
Tagging @batshit-auspol because as an Australian you're the only big account I know who might share (sorry).
happy first day of pride everyone

Talk about the uncanny valley and recurring mythic themes of seductive humanoid predators kind of leaves out the fact that anatomically modern humans contain some genetics of other human species. Maybe H. Sapiens were the eerie, beguiling predators to Neandethals, Denisovians, and other cousin species, and we got their terrified genetic memory. I mean, it happened at least twice, and they're fucking dead. Look at a Neandethal, and then look at a human, we're the creepy elves
I've seen a lot of people come to the horrified realization that, "wait, what in human history gave us a fear of humanoid undead walking about?" But really, that's probably a side effect of the biologically useful aversion to disease mixed with the fear of suspicious behavior among a highly social species.
But we also have that nigh universal "wilderness succubus" archetype, and that's because Ogg got lured off the trail by one of those slender Cro-Magnon baddies and jumped by her brothers, like in that one Conan story. You can see this hunting tactic even today, in the parking lot of Hawkins House of Burgers
Tragic of the showmen
Did you know that— hold on I'm getting a call.
Hello?
What?
Who died?
Well I'm not too upset by this but how?
...uh huh, uh huh...
Every single Power Ranger, you say?
