The post that lost its pocket watch.

I know it's late but I've decided to share my new years resolutions. I decided that if I write them out on the internet I can't take them back; even if no one reads them. 

1. Try not to get so hung-up over people. It is actually pathetic how obsessive I can get when I like someone but I need to realise that sitting around moping and dwelling on the matter at hand will not help anything. The end of 2012 showed me in a particularly pathetic state as an example of this and it's frankly nothing short of pitiful to sit around wishing and brooding and just expecting something to happen without me having to do anything at all. What's more I don't like myself when I do it. Therefore if I want something (or someone) I have to go and put myself out there so I actually stand a chance of getting what I want. If I then fail I need to get up and get over it but feeling sorry for myself won't help anything and it just makes me miserable. As an extension to this I need to stop putting myself down. 

2. Be more organised. Organisation is key to just about everything. I learnt towards the end of last year just how important it really is, but unfortunately not soon enough to escape falling behind in my school work. Now that I've caught up I want to stay on top of it. I know there are more important things in life than good grades and top universities but, whilst more important, those things are ultimate goals and a good education seems like a decent way to go about achieving them. I got a 2013 diary for Christmas and I intend to use it to balance my work and social life and hopefully create a happier, more relaxed, me. 

3. Be less selfish. I have a horrible habit of being able to turn any situation round to my own problems, and I know as much as anyone (believe it or not) that I can go on and on and on about the horribly trivial 'teenage girl' problems that my life holds. It annoys me so goodness only knows how infuriated everyone else must get with me! This doesn't mean I can't talk about my little niggles, but I must realise that there's a time and a place (and I really need to try and sound less "wahhh! Nobody loves me! :'(" in their telling-or worse still, the recent "too many people like me but I don't stand a chance with the guy I like boo-effing-hoo"). Listening to people is an important part of friendship I ought to be a better friend to the people who are simply wonderful friends to me. Besides, they've listened to my pathetic whingings for years now, it's about time they got a chance. 

4. This is the hardest, but ultimately the most important resolution I've made this year. Recovery. I need to remember that healthy is more important than skinny or (what society has led me to believe is) pretty. I know this is going to be hard for me but I'm at the stage now where, whilst I don't want to (and am not ready to) recover, I want to want to recover. I know it's not something I can do alone so the first thing I need to do is pluck up the courage to tell my friends and trust they won't think I'm attention seeking or a nutter. I know they'll do all they can to help me I just need to get that straight in my head. This resolution will almost certainly take more than a year to achieve but hopefully by the end of 2013 I will have made some firm steps towards recovery and will be well into the field of wanting to recover, if not in the process of actual recovery.
