HATE how they made Psyphon afraid of Vilgax in omniverse😔😔😔 The dude was irritated at best when Vilgax happened to threaten him in UAF lmaaaooo. He was so calm around Vilgax and then the switch in OV happened😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 and they expect me to believe Psyphon was abused by him that terribly. Not saying that Vilgax never snaps or lashes out, but it's clearly was a bit different when it came to Psyphon!!! and I wouldn't change it even in case of more OG inspired Vilgax. 'Cuz. Honestly I believe Psyphon works well as a character when he breaks all the established rules about Vilgax that we know as a viewer. Ohhh Big Bad Vilgax's so scary no living creature works for him. And then here's Psyphon. Figures he shouldn't really be afraid of him. Yk. Smth like that.

+ gotta spread demisexual Vilgax agenda 'cuz an ultra evil guy enjoying platonic connection AND hating needing someone emotionally is hilarious. Bro's attached and he's having a crisis because of it.

The Omniverse stuff doesn't surprise me much bc I can tell it's more or less the same people who made Transformers Animated beyond just the art style. It's kinda their thing to take a character and change up their personality for jokes

But YEAH Psyphon having the confidence to just Do Whatever is one of my fave things about him. He technically doesn't even need Vilgax, but you know that guy's attached to. "Aww, my giant angry octopus you're pouting over the Tennyson boy again... you wanna blow up a moon about it with me?"

He's the kinda guy who walks right into businesses and nobody stops him because he looks like he knows what he's doing (he does) and they're like shrug I mean I don't recognize him but I mean if he's headed into a restricted area then I guess he's supposed to be there

I do think Vilgax has smacked Psyphon around before in his fits of anger, but he doesn't beat or target him. Psyphon just happens to be standing too close and gets walloped by mistake, but he can take it and wouldn't want an apology anyway bc who cares? I could see Vilgax threatening him by grabbing an arm or shoulder and yanking on him, but he doesn't abuse Psyphon. He's just maladjusted LGSJKFJSJHFJSHDJHS

But yeah ERM I love love LOVE Vilgax struggling with feeeellliinnggggsss like when Zs'Skayr was threatening Vilgaxia and Vilgax saved that little girl who thanked him and he got all soft. This squid got a heart in there but he haaatttes acknowledging it. In Omniverse I like to think he's just sort of waiting for Psyphon to inevitably show up again, but he's slightly worried that he might be gone forever, but he doesn't know what to DO about that feeling, so he gets up to a bunch of stupid hijinks that are usually beneath him instead (ex: how totally lame he as the entire show (sorry Vilgax))

Idk about hot takes bc I don't really know what is/isn't popular with the ship BUT, in my heart, I like to think that instead of being divorced in Omniverse, Vilgax literally just doesn't know where Psyphon is or how to contact him after the whole Dagon fiasco. The writers conveniently never let them interact directly, so my personal theory is they got separated and through a series of unfortunate, cartoonish events, keep accidentally avoiding each other entirely by happenstance

I prefer to headcanon Psyphon as the competent and confident henchman he was in AFUA with a sprinkling of his sass in Omniverse, so he was actually pretty invaluable to Vilgax, as well as his (love) only real companion.

As I recall (I watched the whole series over like a month and my memory bad 😔), Psyphon was a lot more reserved and soft-spoken originally, so I like to think he was the calm to Vilgax's storm and helped him focus on the bigger picture instead of letting his irritation drive his ambitions. I mean not that it's at all evident bc post original Vilgax is a big stupid squidfailure, but I digress

Also Psyphon is the only being in the entire universe allowed to mess with Vilgax's face/head tentacles :3
