Dota 2 ranked match making sucks!
Everyone tend to play OP heroes and we end up having imbalanced teams. At times other team picks all OP heroes and at times our team picks OP and fail to farm. Either ways, I'm seeing less close games in Ranked Matchmaking.
I am back to preferring public matchmaking, especially Single Draft.
Physicists have devised a new experiment to test if the universe is a computer. A philosophical thought experiment has long held that it is more likely than not that we're living inside a machine.
More food for my thoughts!!
Why Dropbox is still my favorite place for photos?
Lot of things happening in photo sharing space from last few days. Major announcement being Flickr announcing 1TB space for photos. But their upgrade plans look like a joke to me! $49 to just get rid of ads? Give me a break! But in any case what would I do with 1TB? I don't own a DSLR or neither plan to own one in future. On the other hand G+ gives only 5GB space which can only accommodate pictures already taken.
Every single photo I have taken with my phone since past year and a half is on Dropbox, thanks to "camera uploads" & I only managed to touch 5GB (includes HD videos). Dropbox keep extending my storage limit as I use camera uploads. After the release of "Albums", it has become dead simple for me to share pictures with others. Next day after party people usually ask "where are pictures from yesterday?" & I know for sure all that got uploaded to Dropbox while I was asleep, ready to share. Just open the phone, select pics, create album & share!
This workflow has become so intuitive for me. None of the other players have this kind of ease of use. Flickr android app doesn't even have the "camera uploads" feature, may be they don't intent to do that.
This is the most simplified explanation of Scrum I've read!
We don’t discuss exit strategies internally. A lot of companies in Silicon Valley talk about exit strategies. The way we look at it, is it’s like entering a marriage and talking about divorce. We just don’t have one. We don’t have one because we don’t plan or want to think about it. We want to focus on good products.

The Rendered World!
Couple of months ago I read a theory by a professor (I am unable to recollect) which has been stuck in my mind!
According to Moore's law our computational capabilities double by every 2 years. In another 30 years of time we will have computational power capable of rendering entire world. If you have played GTA, there's one entire city in that game, but at a given point of time computer has to just render the surroundings of the player, not the entire city. So this world which we render can render surroundings of a person, which makes job much easier. In the rendering we have done, people can obtain similar computational speeds & they can render their own world! A render inside another render!! This is not it, read further.
So, what if mankind has already obtained that power & we are currently being rendered? And being kept back in time? What if whatever you see around you is just a render? You sure that office of yours, home of yours exists when you are reading this? If we are being rendered, what level of rendering it could be? First? second? third? 100th?
Interesting fact is that everything in our world follows a mathematical pattern making it computer produceable. I was following this TV series called "Touch" in which a kid who can't speak has a supernatural power seeing patterns in world. And whenever the pattern breaks something terrible is going to happen. So, this kid kind of predicts the future & signals his dad to avoid bad things from happening. Our astrology predictions can be based on this & do "this shanti" to stop bad things from happening!!
I'm not a believer of anything, but this theory kept me thinking from past couple of months. I told this to all my colleagues & they think am crazy :P

More music, less tweets!
Once upon a time my last.fm scrobble count & tweet count were same, but today I have 8000 more scrobbles than Tweets! More music, less tweets!
Three years since I said that, and I'm living it today!

Postgres.app is the easiest way to get started with PostgreSQL on the Mac. Open the app, and you have a PostgreSQL server ready and awaiting new connections. Close the app, and the server shuts down.

Why I can't leave Dropbox for Google Drive
I've been using Dropbox since ages now & too used to the workflow. It feels stupid to move all my files from Dropbox to Google Drive for no reason! I'm personally more comfortable with Dropbox for all kinds of files.
But I prefer using Google Docs & Picasa for photos because of collaboration/sharing options these services provide. So, the conclusion is all my files except docs & pics are going to live in Dropbox. Thanks to Dropbox referral program, I have 10.5GB of space!
If humans one day become extinct from a catastrophic collision, we would be the laughing stock of aliens in the galaxy, for having a large brain and a space program, yet we met the same fate as that pea-brained, space program-less dinosaurs that came before us.
