At work I was clearing up and heard “Thank you ma’am, oh wait, that’s not right, you know what I mean, thank you love. That’s gender neutral, right?”

As I was laughing with her through the discomfort, she said her grandchild is trans and came out at age 11 and he’s been so happy ever since, she’s trying to get better at respecting his pronouns and strangers’ pronouns. I responded “as long as you’re trying because that’s more than most people do” which is unfortunately true. However, it’s nice to see people can try and self correct no matter how old they are. A lot of my coworkers are anywhere from 50-80 years old and say they’re too old to change but this woman was easily 75 or older and was totally capable of trying.

I think the more time I spend at work, the more I lose my sense of self, and it’s only repaired when I spend time with fellow queer people.

Having SUCH a hard time coexisting with people at work lately. Trying to learn when to stand up for myself versus when to shut my trap. I have no idea how to make it through this period of low patience though.
