The smaller girl could feel his body tense and she whispered. She wasn’t sure why but whatever she said got a reaction out of him. She only wished she knew if it was a good one or not. “I watched an innocent man die” She repeated, her face scrunching together is disgust. “I deserved to get hurt for watching someone else go through so much pain —  I could of saved him. Like .. like you saved me” The blonde could feel her stomach muscles tighten. The though sickened her. To think of someone lying helpless much like she was, almost terrified her. 

Falling into him, she closed her eyes, relaxing when his soft lips mad contact with her skin. She only wished he was kissing her somewhere else. “Forever..” She whispered back clarifying her words. “I haven’t felt this safe in such a long time..” She confessed, her free hand moving to rest on his chest. 

Scar tucked a small strand of hair behind her ear, forcing back her smile as he laughed. “It’s not funny..” She hissed, playfully, hitting his chest with her hand. “You do realize I can just push you off, right? Don’t think I won’t” The blonde warned. His words caused her to smile. She never understood how he did it. “Kiss me..” She whispered, suddenly as she lifted her gaze to his.

     It felt as if he couldn't breathe and as if the walls were closing around him. The sickeningly large lump that was always too difficult to swallow produced itself and his face stay in an ashy grimace. He wouldn't cry in front of her and he was able to fight them off fairly and surprisingly with ease. He let out a distressed sigh as he looked straight into her blue hues, "For the thousandth time it wasn't your fault. You never knew it was going to happen, it's different if you actually held the weapon. Please understand that you don't fucking deserve this." His jaw was tensed, the stresses getting to him but he pulled a practically pathetic smile to his features.

Preston's arm locked tighter around her, reminding her of how secure she was. he wouldn't leave her now and he hoped the nurses would forget to check up on Scarlett, just this once. She was okay now with him here, the nurses were no longer needed. "You're always safe with me," the words comfortably rolled off of his tongue. The male would fight to the death to prove that he meant every word of it.

His expression changed to one of amusement and a fake expression of shock, "Yeah..yeah you wouldn't dare. I'm your knight in shining armor," he teased, raising a challenging brow to her. He was taken off guard by her sudden demand, eyes widening slightly in surprise. "I.." Ah, the hell with it. He felt something, a spark at the fair and the situation they were in now just proved how far they had come and how strong their relationship was -- not even a kiss could mess it up. A free hand grabbed her lightly by the chin as he let his lips softly press against hers. Passion was hidden beneath the glazed softness of it all but he was scared even too hard of a kiss would hurt her.

Scarlett nodded, letting him know she was understanding his words. She felt like they were in their own little world and even though they we’re lying in a hospital bed, it didn’t fee like it. His presence always made everything better. He always had that way about him; without  doubt she would bet that he could make anyone happy. No matter what the circumstances. Scooting closer to him, she was now pressed against him, her forehead gently resting against the male’s face.

"I trust you, Pres. The last thing I would ever want it you hurt. — I’d never forgive myself for it. I guess I’m glad something like this happened to me and not someone like you. You deserve every good thing in the world that exists. The blonde locked her eyes with his, smiling weakly up at him as he spoke. “God, I love you, Pres…” She whispered her nose nuzzling his. “Forever and Always..”

"Do I — I look ugly..” She whimpered, her teary eyes looking away from him in shame. She was almost certain that no matter what his answer was going to be, she looked disgusting. How he could even lay in the same bed with her baffled her. Scarlett could feel the lump in her throat building as she kept her gaze away from his face. She was scared of what he might say.

     He let out a small sigh, eyes fluttering down as she pressed her forehead against his. Their bond was so powerful and even after all of this he knew that she could get through anything. Mostly because he would refuse to let her give up. His face contorted as she went on about how she deserved this and how he had deserved everything good in the world. It made him sick to his stomach knowing that he was keeping this from her. He wanted to tell her but not now -- not when she was like this. It would only hurt her more and he wasn't ready to bring her pain.

"No...no -- don't say that. Are you crazy? You never even deserved an attack like this. You're the one who deserves everything great -- now that your secret is out you can move past it and get on to bigger and better things, okay? You deserve that closure now that it's out there." His free hand came up to wrap around her neck, leaning up to kiss her forehead. The 'forever and always' left him raw but all he could do now was return it. "I love you too, 'Lette..forever..." The guilt made him sick and he promised he'd tell her one day, just not now.

A small and amused smirk broke out on his face as he shook his head. "Did you really just ask that?" He let out a bout of laughter, "Shut up, you're beautiful, okay? You shouldn't even have to ask that ever." He squeezed her hand lightly again to know he meant it, resting his head back against the pillow, inches away from her own face.

Hmm, I don't know -- I'm not sure I see it all that much. We might just have to put your ninja skills to the test just so I can have vital proof. Either way you'd have to let me drink! You should be glad I'm drinking with you and not sitting out in the cold, drinking myself to death with random strangers. Besides, you make perfect alcoholic ice cream floats, you should always take the chance to make them.

The gentleness of his voice only relaxed her more, her body almost dropping floppily against his toned and strong frame.  “You promise..?” She whispered her fingers twirling around his softly locks. Something about his arms felt so right. She couldn’t place her finger on it but it did. “I really don’t know what I’d do without you, Pressy..”

It was then that Scarlett’s thoughts took over her once again. Did he really mean forever? What if they drifted once she went away for college and they went their separate ways. Out of all of her friends she knew if she ever had to say goodbye to Preston that would be like ripping her own heart out and handing it to him on a silver platter. Shifted her tiny frame, she made some room from him, grinning as he accepted her plead.  The blonde couldn’t help but laugh as her curls fell over her chest. “You look exhausted..” She whispered. “Maybe if we’re quiet they won’t come in and you can stay the night here. I need you. I feel so safe around you.” The girl inhaled deeply taking in his perfect completion as he lay inches from her. “Oh you’d so wanna watch it” She teased, her body edging closer to his. She didn’t care if they got caught.  Being in this moment, made her feel happier than she had in a long time and she refused to have it taken from her.

The heat from his breath trickled over her face and chest, sending shivers down her spine. She couldn’t help but jump slightly at the sudden touch of his hand beneath the covers. She didn’t complain. Curling her fingers around his she locked her gaze with his. “Preston.. “ She whispered, her free hand ,lifting to stroke over his tiresome face. “I — ..”

     A smile produced on his lips and he shook his head at her nickname for him; 'Pressy'. Though he have her a look of confirmation, a serious one, "I promise..okay?" Despite the aesthetic smell of the pillow he felt he could finally relax, even if they were under paper thin covers, it didn't matter to him as long as he knew Scarlett was now safe -- and in his arms. As she noted how exhausted he looked it felt as if he had been hit by a train, all realization hitting him at once. 

Yeah, he was tired. His eyes practically drooped and his mannerism was sluggish, but he didn't care right now. He would stay here until they pulled him out by force. "You are safe around me. I won't let anything else happen to you. Know that. I absolutely will not let anything else happen." His tone was strong and his expression serious as he looked into her hurt ocean blues.

Preston became alert as he noticed goosebumps protrude on her arm. But when she began to caress his face, he relaxed again, staring back intently. "--What, 'Lette? What is it?" He was all ears now, his thumb brushing over hers as a gentle way to remind her he wasn't going anywhere.

She was still adjusting to the light when she looked up at him. Her body was still cold from the endless hours she’d spent in laying in the cold Alley. In that moment the only thing she could think of was death. Preston saved her and that was something she knew she’d never forget. Nuzzling her nose into his shoulder she could feel a lump slowly building in her throat, followed by the sting of tears that flooded her soft blue eyes. “I was so scared…” She whispered. Preston was one of the few that knew of her secret before it was revealed by the witch. She trusted him with it; with her life.

"Hey.." She murmured, her arms tightening their grip around his torso. "I’m okay — I’m here, Pres. You.. saved me.” Scarlett was still so unsure about her feelings for Preston. After their kiss out the fair they hadn’t spoke to each other much at all. She put it down to just awkwardness but she wasn’t sure. After Erick any feelings frightened her and what made it worse? Preston was one of her dearest friends. He meant too much for her to lose and it terrified her that her feelings might cause that to happen. 

Dragging herself away from her thoughts, the blonde relaxed in his embrace, feeling his warmth wrapping around her. “Lay with me..?” She asked. She was scared he’d leave. Scared he’d have to go home and leave her in this room, in her bed alone. The harsh sting from her lungs caused her to wince, a soft laugh escaping her lips. “I’ve always been famous..” She joked “At least I don’t need to make a sex tape now..”

     The guilt that loomed over him was stronger than before. Here she was hospitalized all because of the witch and who would have known if she would have made it had he not found her? She would have died and he knew he would have blamed himself somehow and he knew that was selfish of him but Scarlett would always be his own responsibility in his eyes; no matter what. "I know..I know but it's okay, I've got you now 'Lette....forever and always."

The 'forever' part pulled at his own heartstrings for he wasn't even sure if he could promise that. But he wouldn't let his own skeletons push them apart -- he had to be there for her. Especially after their fair mishap; it had distanced them and now all he wished was to be close to her. Preston knew he had to help her through everything now, he couldn't distance from her again it was too dangerous. He nodded softly without a word, dodging between wires and covers until he could lay and face her comfortably -- without any wires or monitors blocking themselves from each other.

The hospital made him feel sick inside and the wires that connected themselves to Scarlett only made him feel worse. He had been in this scene many times before and it always would hurt him, no matter what person or what situation; these type of scenarios hurt him the most. "I'm going to stay with you as long as I can...They can't make me leave,"he murmured, letting out a laugh of his own at her own joke, which sent a pain surging through his own lungs. "If you ever even thought about making a sex tape to become famous, I'd kick your ass no questions asked!" His laugh came out softer this time, knowing each one would strain on his lungs.

The male's hand found hers under the covers, locking their fingers together as he pressed his head back down on the pillow to face her. The hospital bed was small and he was surprised both of them fit so comfortably on it. Though it was probably because he was too strained and tired to care or even notice.
