#despite loving it deeply & appreciating it's the best star wars novel #its depiction of the duel in mustafar is objectively bad #i alrdy knew that was going to be the case when i read the obi-wan × grievous fight #bc stover has attachment derangement syndrome #so he depicts obi-wan as emotionally detached bc that's his interpretation of lucas's interpretation of buddhist ideas #and it's pure butt #“obi-wan wasn't feeling merciful” shut the fuck up #thank god ewan macgregor had better thoughts on that scene #but also “anakin saw palpatine as a father” is nonsense. palpatine perhaps wanted to be viewed that way sure. but he was friendzoned #he's like an initiate obikinner who thinks anakin seeing obikin as a dad is unacceptable to his obikin goals #like i KNOW why stover is worshipped in these circles but i don't accept it #the criticisms of obikin vis-a-vis obi-wan raising anakin are absolutely on point #irl any dude who raised a kid from 9 consequently fucking said kid would raise every flag in my head #you are being what people accuse you of: a person who can't differentiate btwn fiction and reality
