Playing Alan Wake again and honestly shoutout to my guy for being just so out of shape.

Man cannot run 10 meters without panting and wheezing like a dying dog and that is the kind of depressed artist representation we need to see in the world.

in aw1 alan is annoying like okay another video game guy who can’t find his wife and is a jerk to everyone. but in aw2 it’s like ok. he’s back. with long hair this time. he’s been trapped in the nightmare dimension for thirteen years. he’s so so sad and scared all the time and also sopping wet for some reason. he has memory problems bc he’s stuck in a loop spiral. he’s crawling around on the ground clutching his head in pain. he’s going to do a little song and dance for you! now he’s going to turn evil and get covered in blood for a bit! okay now he’s on the floor crying again. and it’s so awesome. this is how you make a man appealing.

The most relatable part of Alan Wake, you ask? Thinking he's better off stuck in a dark room, alone, getting zero sleep and zero exercise, alternating between fantasizing elaborate scenarios where people either love him or brutally murder him and using his sole source of dim, artificial light to write about his blorbos in terrible situations

The Federal Bureau of Control is the funniest version of the SCP Foundation ever created because, yes, much like the Foundation they're the only thing between humanity and total, random annihilation by extremely stupid anomalies, but unlike in the Foundation the rate of utter stupidity in their ranks is so skewed that some of their top researchers genuinely had the research proposal of "Why don't we feed Alan Wake's writing into AI and try to prompt it to make nice things?", only for Alan, from the Dark Place, to write a manuscript basically asking them "Are you this fucking stupid or is this performative?" And then everyone involved fucking died.
