Glenfarclas Whisky – The Famous Scots Edition No. 26: Rob Roy MacGregor

Robert Roy MacGregor (1671–1734) was a clan chief and outlaw who is often referred to as the “Scottish Robin Hood.” He was immortalised through his deeds during the Jacobite uprisings and through Sir Walter Scott’s novels. Glenfarclas’ choice of him for the 26th edition of this series fits perfectly with the spirit of the distillery – unconventional, proud, and deeply rooted in tradition.

As is customary for Glenfarclas, this edition also represents classic maturation in Oloroso sherry casks.

The Maltman Whisky Secret Orkney 16 y.o.

The Secret Orkney 16 Years Old (2008/2025) from Meadowside Blending's The Maltman series is a fascinating example of an independent bottling that plays on the mystery of its origin. As there are only two major distilleries on the Orkney Islands (Highland Park and Scapa), the “secret” is usually an open one – connoisseurs almost always guess Highland Park based on the profile.

This Maltman is an “island dream” for fans of strong, honest single casks. It offers the typical DNA of the Orkneys – heather, honey, and gentle smoke – combined with the depth of 16 years of maturation in a sherry cask.

Glen Scotia Campbeltown Harbour is the entry-level whisky from the traditional Glen Scotia distillery in Campbeltown. It was designed to capture the maritime character of the former "whisky capital of the world" in an accessible form. It is deliberately "smoother" than the well-known Glen Scotia Double Cask or the 15-year-old and is aimed at connoisseurs seeking an uncomplicated yet characterful everyday dram.

The texture is rather light. Ripe peaches and apples dominate the palate, followed by creamy vanilla pudding and toffee. The finish reveals a subtle peat smoke paired with a maritime salt note.

The GlenAllachie 15 Year Old is often considered by connoisseurs to be the “heart” of the distillery's core range. Since the distillery was taken over by whisky legend Billy Walker in 2017, this single malt has become a prime example of first-class sherry maturation.

The GlenAllachie 15 is known for its intense dark colour and deep, complex aromas. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured and is bottled at a solid drinking strength of 46% ABV. It is matured in a combination of Pedro Ximénez (PX) and Oloroso sherry puncheons and hogsheads. This combination provides the perfect balance between the extreme sweetness of the PX and the nutty, spicy notes of the Oloroso.
