Things Iām sick of
Asians being ignored in racial discussions or even worse, lumped in with whites as if we were essentially the same
The utter lack of education on Asian directed hostility that has been a continued issue in the united states ever since we first started coming here.
People treating all race issues as just Black vs White
The assumption that since Asians have the Ā stereotypes of being smart, docile, and nonthreatening, that we lack a struggle other minorities have
The hypersexualization of Asian women and the complete desexualization of Asian men
How almost all asian representation in media is accompanied with an accent, and rarely breaks from the stereotypesĀ
⢠How people think āAsianā means āEast Asianā ⢠The serious lack of diverse Asian representation in mainstream media ⢠In addition to that, casting someone of a certain Asian ethnicity in a role meant for another (as if all Asians are the same) ⢠āAre you sure youāre Asian? But you speak English so well!ā ⢠āArenāt all Asians supposed to be pale/petite/etc?ā
Also, the fetishization of Asian mlm and the fact that the hypersexualization of Asian women often comes hand in hand with infantilization, which is gross on so many levels
what if we stopped viewing antisemitism as basically a harmless quirk, easily overlooked in people we otherwise want to like?
Willem Haenraets (Dutch, b. 1940)
sometimes, people donāt understand that we are hated for being autistic.Ā āBut I donāt hate autistic people!ā.
Thatās right! Because you donāt know how autistic people are.
You know, people never bullied me for being autistic. Because neither me nor they had the terminology. Nah, they punished me for being weird. And what made me weird to their eyes? I spoke weird and often stumbled, and I spoke like a grownup anyway, and I wouldnāt shut up about Ancient Greece. I moved weird too, because I was (am) really clumsy, and I didnāt have any friends. I was boring and didnāt catch jokes (made at my expense) and I didnāt look them in the eye, and so on and on.
If you asked any of the people who bullied me for years whether they hate autistic people, theyād sayĀ āno!ā. Because they donāt hate autistic people, but oh boy do they hate weird people. Perhaps they donāt hate autistic people, but surely they hated me for being obviously autistic.
Iāve been trying to explain this concept to a lot of people. You did a really good job summing it up.
ive seen people online claim to support autistic people and then kind of mock/ostracize others for not immediately picking up on all the unwritten online social rules
Kissing you didn't feel like fireworks or explosions or like the sun was burning in my soul. But it did feel calm, and safe, and right. The world was spinning around me and it suddenly fell into place. And I think that's so much better.
This is potentially life saving information everyone should know.
No you guys this post helped me find my cat. He was missing for almost a month and Iāve had him for over 12 years. After seeing this I put his favorite blanket he always slept on outside hoping he would smell mine or his scent and he was back the next fucking day asleep on it.
When my cat got out, we called and called for him, and then, later that night, I remembered similar advice to this, and so put his little scratching pad, which he adores, on the front porch. Not even half an hour later, I heard a thump, opened the door, and there was his big butt, meowing at me.
Important and vital
I donāt care that I reblogged this today Iām reblogging it again
