This Onion Bacon Spinach Tart combines savory bacon, sweet caramelized onions, and tender spinach on a flaky puff pastry crust, all topped with creamy Gruyere cheese. It's a delightful dish perfect for brunch, lunch, or a light dinner.
Ingredients: 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed. 1 tablespoon olive oil. 1 onion, thinly sliced. 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled. 2 cups fresh spinach leaves. 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese. 4 eggs. 1/2 cup heavy cream. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: Preheat the oven to 375F 190C. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and transfer it to a tart pan, pressing gently to fit the bottom and sides. Trim any excess pastry. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the puff pastry. Layer cooked bacon and fresh spinach leaves over the onions. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs and heavy cream. Season with salt and pepper. Pour the egg mixture over the spinach and bacon layers. Sprinkle shredded Gruyere cheese on top. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the tart is set and golden brown. Allow the tart to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
