why do you think hinny community is not that popular like Drarry or dramione or Jeagulus or wolfstar?

I feel like there's less....unity (for a lack of better word) between the authors. I see other members of other ships reblog everything and read everything, but ifl there is a sub community within the community.... What are your thoughts?

Well I think these are two separate things and the lack of unity is not connected to the popularity. Except that the lack of unity is not helping us increase in numbers, but ultimately the numbers weren't there to start with (in comparison to other HP ships) (fyi I am going to be anti-tagging this for the ships, not because I am against those ships or speak against them but ultimately doesn't need to end up in their tags)

Male gay ships have been popular across fandoms everywhere for a long time. I think there is a lot to unpack there but honestly I'm not going to contemplate about the impact of society and the patriarchy on fandom but here are a few reasons

if you're women reading it, you can feel more removed from the romance and experience it in a different way

men are better represented in fiction so statistically there are more men to write about

and the men are often written better (by male authors, while I think female authors do a better job at representing both genders)

there isn't an automatic power imbalance

As soon as a ship reaches a certain number, people will join it because it's popular and that really makes them stand apart from other ships and additionally ships within Harry Potter are going to go far because the fandom is big and so if you're looking for the most talked about ship for a fandom to join then yeah you'll end up there too

I used to be a Drarry shipper (while being a Hinny shipper simultaneously) and I was constantly spoiled for content and I honestly still miss because there was just so much to consume and mind you it was 12 years ago so the fandom was even more active than now. I shipped a lot of the popular male ships, the johnlock and the geraskier and there was the k-pop boy yaoi, like you won't hear me judge anyone's individual choice to ship two men but I do take issue with how women are sometimes used as a device to help the story along (read: incubator or evil)

You mentioned specifically ships where one of them is a Death Eater and that is also a reason, I think. A story exists because there is tension within it and often those ships exist because it's easy to create tension when characters are at odds with each other. Homophobia can also easily be used to instigate events within the story. Obviously not all fics are going to use those two things as tension but once a ship reaches popularity that ultimately stops mattering because they already have the numbers in their favour

J*gulus specifically is an odd one out but as far as a I recall it's all because of one popular fic (ATYD) featuring them and then again once you have a few people interested, the numbers increase themselves.

Specifically for Harry Potter as a fandom, there are so many people who have used and reused content and tropes and headcanons while not necessarily always going back to the source material that the actual idea of the character has been altered by fandom. I don't think there is inherently anything wrong with that and I'm definitely guilty of taking my headcanons and running with it BUT when it comes to ships like J*gulus you can't argue that Regulus was so insanely compelling in the books that it warrants this massive of a ship. Fandom made him interesting, I would almost consider it like a secondary ship, where it sprouted more from fandom than the source material. I'm sorry this is gettting really long but I have a lot to say! Now onto the Hinny bit

The hinny community is fractured and when I came back to fandom around like 2021? I had no idea why that was but I felt like it was quite tangible that there were separate groups. I am not going to discuss as to the why that is. There are parts I know about and there are also probably even more I don't know about. Basically I think old drama has divided at least my corner of the Hinny community. I know a lot of people are drama-free and don't have issue with anyone but you're going to pick people you speak to and interact with that may not be speaking to some others. I think certain people's behaviour has also alienated people from fandom (and that's several people, in case you were thinking of one specific person). Such things happen within a lot of fandoms but considering we were already a smaller group, it feels more noticable.

Part of the reason I started another Hinny discord server is I wanted to be a more neutral space to be in. I was not involved in older stuff (even though I was in the fandom from like 2011-2014 but never really felt part of the community then) and the issues I've had with people was where they created issues themselves (plagiarism, harassment etc) and maybe only one or two people that I've personally had an issue with (and they can go wherever they want that's NOT our Disord server)

I do think the hinny community is a bit bad about reblogging and stuff. Even people I consider to be 'popular' can have like 10 or 20 likes on a post that in the jily fandom (much more active but still not a drarry) would have a 150. It gives me terrible FOMO. Again, the numbers play into this. No one reblogs so the people who follow other people also don't reblog because they never got to see those posts in the first place. That's why I appreciate blogs like the @myhinnyarchive so much, because they're honestly the backbone of our tumblr biome. Numbers exponentially increase as people share, and we're a bit bad at it. Sometime with events and stuff I feel like I'm talking to a wall. it's like no one cares, no one reblogs. It's a core group of people who give a damn and the rest...idk. And I can't complain, I know. I have lovely people around me and who make the effort and the events get some participants but I always feel like it could be so much more if people all just hit reblog even once. It's disheartening at times.

You don't join the hinny community for the popularity (i'd think, but correct me if I'm wrong?) so that does change the demographic of the people in it. Aka we are older and have other responsibilities and you can't prioritise fandom the way a hyperfocused teenager can, most of the time anyway. I would expect older people to be better about reblogging and things, but what do I know.

This general passiveness isn't just in reblogging, but also commenting etc and again I'm not judging individual people's choice on how they interact with fandom, but it's just the truth of why the community is just not doing any numbers. I think it's why get next to no fanart because why would you slave hours over an art piece that's going to get next to no interaction when you can do it for a ship slightly to the right that will get 10x the notes. It shouldn't be just the most popular of the fandom accounts getting attention, we need to feel more interconnected by doing the effort ourselves. If you want it to be different, you need to start with yourself. Reblog (it doesn't fit your blog? Big whoop make a sideblog it's free), comment (no you're not too tired, short comments are valid too and better than nother) and for the love of god push all the buttons. Do it. Push like. Comment heart emojis for all I care but don't be a dead fish on land and wonder why you've run out of water, you know?

I don't want to judge anyone individually and I have met many amazing people who care and interact. I appreciate you and I see you. The general trend of passiveness is there and people like you notice, because you're right! That's just how it is

Okay, Kami, I'm actually blushing now. Thanks for the kind words.

There are divisions in the Hinny fandom and I don't claim to understand it. I won't go into that but they are definitely there.

And as you said, a lot of people that were super active Hinny connoisseurs in the past have moved on to other interests also.

I often feel like I'm running out of material to reblog. I don't want to just reblog old Burdge drawings (though they're great) but sometimes it feels like that's all I do. I try to dig up vintage Hinny posts that some of the newer fans may not have seen. I try to mine some of the inactive blogs for gold. Also, if people want, I can definitely rec older fics.

And if there's someone who posts a lot of Hinny that I'm not reblogging from, I'm not shunning them or neglecting them on purpose.

And I must note the reciprocal nature of Tumblr life. The best way to get me to reblog your stuff is to reblog mine. This goes for all of us. (Although don't be surprised if I reblog it on a different sideblog. I have several.)

Now this one was a bit of a trick question because someone snuck in two fics for one theme! (Note: this could have also gone in the bonus theme but it was kept here for the guessing survey so that's where it's placed now.) I think none of us saw that coming! Nevertheless some people did guess correctly that @sunlit-di-s wrote this, though no one guessed she had written two fics this theme. Sneaky!

The guesses were really divided this theme so I cannot tell you anyone guessed more correctly than the rest but shout-out to @blackseatwenty, @justalittleconfusing, @lepoltergeist @nena-96 and @gin110881 for guessing decently and we shall not name and shame people who got nothing correct because I am too sensitive :)

“What’ve you got there?”

“Huh?” Harry said in a way that made it obvious to Ginny he had not heard what she had asked him.

“What are you holding that has you concentrating so hard? An obsessive note from a Rita Skeeter admirer?” she teased, settling onto the sofa.

Harry still stood in the middle of the sitting room, one hand tangled in his hair, the other holding a slightly crumpled envelope, unmistakably Muggle with the stamps on the front. The sort that had never once found its way to their home before.

“It’s a birthday card,” he said, a little distantly.

“That makes sense,” Ginny replied lightly. “Go on, pin it up with the rest.”

Harry didn’t move. His gaze remained fixed on the card, as though it might vanish if he looked away.

“It’s from my cousin,” he said.

Ginny stilled. “Your cousin? Dudley?”

“I only have the one.”

“Harry?”

He looked up at last, drawn out of that faraway stare as Ginny reached over and touched his arm. “Yeah?”

“That’s… nice,” she said gently. “That he sent a card.”

Harry let out a quiet breath, almost a laugh, though there was no humor in it. “I didn’t even know he knew I had a birthday.”

Ginny tilted her head. “What did he write?”

Harry glanced back down at the card. “Happy Birthday.”

.“Well,” Ginny said, a smile tugging at her lips, “that’s certainly concise.”

Harry huffed softly, then added, almost as an afterthought, “He wants me to visit.”

Ginny’s expression shifted. “Does he? He wants you to go to Privet Drive?”

Harry shook his head faintly. “No. He’s got his own place now. Moved out.”

Ginny’s eyebrows lifted. “Well—good for him. I bet his mum still drops off cooked meals and clean laundry, though.”

But Harry didn’t answer.

Her voice faded somewhere behind him, drowned out by the sudden, sharp pull of memory. Piles of presents stacked high for Dudley—bright paper, ribbons, more every year than the last. The noise, the fuss, the way the whole house seemed to revolve around him.

Harry also remembered the quiet. Long days that passed like any other, no different, no marked moment to set them apart. No cards. No cake. No one saying the words.

He remembered primary school, a chart pinned to the wall with every student’s birthday written in careful, looping handwriting. He’d stood there longer than he meant to, scanning the list until he found his own name next to the date, July 31st.

That had been the first time he’d known his birthday. But summer meant empty classrooms, meant no one there to notice, no desk with a card waiting, no offhand “happy birthday” from a classmate or teacher. Just another day slipping by, unremarked.

Hi there. Reading about the Fed yet again holding interest rates steady. Feeling angry.

I guess I’m wondering if companies COULD choose to have rates lower than the Fed’s target rate and the prime rate. Do CC companies just choose to be shitty and charge 24% on a new credit card, or do they have the option to charge only 4%? Can mortgage lenders choose to charge 3% interest instead of the 6% going rate?

If they did, what would that affect besides their own profitability?

At last, a worthy opponent.

The answer is fascinating and complicated and I'm so fucking grateful you gave me an opportunity to nerd out about the Fed! So let me see if I can explain using nice, round numbers that do not reflect reality.

The simple explanation: Mortgage lenders (and credit card companies) can set their interest rates within a very narrow range around the Fed's rate. So if the Fed says the rate is 5%, lenders aren't going to fuck around with anything outside a range of about 4-6%. Sorry bout it.

The more complex explanation:

The Fed (that's the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States if you're nasty) DOES NOT directly set mortgage rates for home buyers. Instead, it sets the federal funds rate for buying and selling bonds and mortgage-backed securities between banks on a short-term basis. And this rate heavily influences mortgage interest rates from institutional lenders to individual buyers.

In other words, the Fed's interest rate is based on how banks can loan OTHER banks money for a maximum term of 24 hours. That's the "federal funds rate." And because banks lend each other money during the mortgage process because of... reasons... the Fed's rate influences the mortgage rates we can get as home buyers in a loose and inconsistent way.

But there's more! Our mortgage interest rates are ALSO loosely correlated with Treasury Bond yields. This is because mortgages are slightly riskier than Treasury bonds, so the banks need to offer a slightly better interest yield. The 10-year Treasury Bond yield is also directly influenced by the Fed, and it's used as a benchmark for how much risk there is for any lender to offer loans with their money vs. taking virtually zero risk with their money by just buying Treasury Bonds.

All of which is to say: the Fed does not force credit card companies and mortgage lenders to set specific interest rates for individual consumers. But it DOES force a specific interest rate on bank-to-bank transactions and the Treasury, all of which heavily influences the rates that get passed down to us. So yeah, your mortgage lender or CC can TECHNICALLY offer you any old interest rate... but they ain't gonna because they're dependent on the Fed to determine how much they profit from your loan.

Can you write a Healer Ginny and Injured auror Harry fic?

The first thing Ginny knew about Harry Potter, she knew from the chart.

Auror, thirty. Multiple contact points, unidentified curse residue. Vitals unstable — spiking, then flat, then spiking again, like his body couldn't decide what it was reacting to. Healer Ogden had scrawled a question mark next to the diagnosis line and left it at that, which told her more than anything else in the file. Ogden didn't do question marks. Ogden did answers, fast, or referred out.

She'd been paged in from the Janus Thickey overflow ward at half eleven at night, still in yesterday's robes, and by the time she got to bay four there were already four other Healers standing around the bed not touching him, which was its own kind of diagnosis.

"Someone want to tell me what I'm looking at?" she said, shouldering past.

"Contact curse, unregistered," said one of the junior Healers, too fast, relieved to hand it off. "Hit him and two others on the raid. The others are stable. He's not."

Ginny looked down at the bed.

She'd expected — she wasn't sure what she'd expected. Not this. Not a man lying very still and very awake, jaw tight, sweat at his hairline, watching the ceiling like if he looked at it hard enough it would tell him what was wrong with him too. His right forearm was wrapped in silver-threaded gauze that was supposed to contain magical bleed and clearly wasn't doing a brilliant job of it, going by the way it kept flickering, faint and wrong, like a candle in wind.

"Mr. Potter." She picked up his wrist without asking permission, two fingers pressed to the pulse point. Too fast. Then, three seconds later, too slow. "I'm Healer Weasley. I'm going to be looking after you."

"Wonderful," he said, in the flat voice of a man who had said that word to mean the opposite of itself many times before. "Does that mean you know what's wrong with me, or does that mean you're fourth in line to tell me you don't?"

"Bit of both." She didn't look up from his pulse. "Give me a minute before you decide to be difficult about it."

That got something out of him — not quite a laugh, more the ghost of the shape one would take. "No promises."

She noted it anyway: patient responsive, oriented, uncooperative baseline personality, unrelated to injury. Then she got to work.

It took forty minutes to stabilize him enough to stop actively worrying about him dying, and another six days to admit she had no idea what had actually hit him.

"It's not cursefire," she told the diagnostic team, Thursday morning, chart spread across the table like a crime scene. "Cursefire burns outward, this is burning in. It's not a hex residue either, the signature doesn't match anything registered, and before anyone suggests it — no, it's not Dark Arts. I checked against every catalogued curse from the last war. Nothing fits."

"So what's your working theory?" asked Ogden, arms crossed.

"That somebody built something new."

The silence that got her was the kind she'd learned, in three years as a Healer, to take as agreement rather than dismissal.

"Keep him another week," Ogden said. "Monitor, don't guess. And Weasley — keep him calm. Whatever it is, it's responding to something. Exertion, stress, I don't know yet. But every time his heart rate spikes, so does the residue."

Which was how Ginny ended up, that afternoon, standing at the foot of Harry Potter's bed with her arms crossed, informing him he could not, in fact, discharge himself to go "check on the case."

"I'm fine," he said.

"You're not fine. You're a man whose arm was actively smoking two days ago."

"It's not smoking now."

"Because I've had you flat on your back for forty-eight hours. That's not a cure, that's a ceasefire." She flipped his chart shut. "You so much as raise your heart rate past a brisk walk and I want to know about it. Ogden thinks whatever hit you is reactive to stress. So you're going to lie there and be boring, Mr. Potter, and if that offends you, I genuinely do not care."

He looked at her for a long moment — assessing, she realized, the way she imagined he must look at a room before deciding where the exits were.

"You're very sure of yourself," he said. Not unkindly.

"I'm very sure of the chart. There's a difference, but it usually amounts to the same thing."

Something flickered over his face, there and gone, that she'd later learn to recognize as the first crack in the wall he'd built the moment they wheeled him in.

"Fine," he said. "Boring. I can do boring."

"Somehow," she said, already turning for the door, "I don't believe you."

He didn't manage it, as it turned out. Not even close.

By the second week, she'd stopped bothering to knock.

"You're doing the thing again," she said, without looking up from his chart, where she'd caught the telltale uptick in his readings the moment she'd walked onto the ward.

"What thing."

"The thing where you think about work and your body decides that's a five-alarm emergency." She came around the privacy curtain to find him sitting up, jaw set, a folder of case notes open on the blanket that absolutely should not have been there. "Where did you even get this?"

"Robards sent it."

"Robards is going to answer for that." She held her hand out. "Give it here."

"It's just background reading."

"Your pulse says otherwise." She wiggled her fingers. "Hand it over, or I'll have it confiscated and I'll make sure you know it was me who did it."

He handed it over. Reluctantly, and with the specific, wounded dignity of a man who'd clearly never had to defer to anyone about his own case files in his life.

"You know," he said, watching her tuck the folder under her arm like contraband, "most people are slightly more deferential. Given who I am."

"I've noticed. It's very tedious, watching people tiptoe around you." She sat on the edge of the visitor's chair, which she'd started doing without quite registering the decision to. "I'm not going to do it. You're not the badass Auror in here. You're bay four, and bay four is being a nightmare patient."

He almost smiled at that — she was getting better at cataloguing the almosts, the flickers before he caught himself and reeled them back in.

"You're the only one who talks to me like that."

"Good. Someone should." She checked the readings on his arm — the flicker had gone down, marginally, now that the folder was out of reach. "See? Better already. Turns out irritation lowers your heart rate faster than case files raise it. Interesting."

"Are you saying I should be irritated more often?"

"I'm saying it's diagnostically useful information and I intend to use it liberally."

"That's concerning."

"You'll live," she said, and only realized after she'd said it how much weight the words were carrying, in a room like this one, for a man like him. He seemed to realize it too. Neither of them said anything about it.

The mystery cracked open in week three, not because of anything Ginny did in the lab, but because of something Harry said, half-asleep, at two in the morning, when she was doing rounds and he was supposed to be unconscious.

"Antler," he mumbled.

She stopped in the doorway. "Sorry?"

His eyes were still closed. "The bloke. Runic thing on his ring. Antler shape." A pause. Then, clearer, like he was surfacing: "Wasn't a curse he cast. It was in the ring."

Ginny was at his bedside in four steps. "Harry. Say that again. Slowly."

He blinked up at her, disoriented, and it took him a second to catch up to what he'd said. "The ring. On the bloke we raided. I grabbed his wrist to cuff him and — that's when it hit. It wasn't a spell he cast at me. It came off the object."

"You're sure."

"I'm an Auror. I notice things even when I'm being cursed by them." A ghost of his old dryness, worn thin by exhaustion, but there.

She didn't sleep that night. By morning she had Robards' team pulling every confiscated item from the raid, and by that afternoon they had it: a signet ring, unregistered, radiating a magical signature that didn't match anything in the catalogue because it wasn't a spell at all. It was a vessel. Something built to store and discharge curse-energy on contact, cobbled together from experimental theory that had no business existing outside a research lab, let alone a black market stall.

"It's not actively cursing you," she told him, that evening, laying it out with the kind of relief that came from finally, finally understanding the shape of a problem. "It transferred a payload. A stored charge. Which means it's finite — it's not sustaining itself, it's depleting. Every spike you've had, every flare — that's the charge working itself out of your system. You're not getting worse, Harry. You're emptying."

He looked at her for a long moment. "So I'll be all right."

"You'll be all right." She said it firmly, because she believed it, and because some part of her had needed to say it out loud as much as he'd needed to hear it. "It'll take time. Weeks, maybe. But it has an end point. It's not indefinite."

Something in his shoulders came down that she hadn't fully registered was up until it wasn't.

"Thank you," he said. Quietly. Not performed, not for an audience of Healers or reporters or anyone but her. "For not giving up on figuring it out."

"It's my job."

"It's not, actually. Your job was to keep me stable. Figuring out what it was — that was you being stubborn about a question nobody else could answer." He looked at her properly then, in a way that made the room feel smaller than it had a moment ago. "I noticed."

Ginny found, for possibly the first time in three weeks, that she didn't have a quick answer ready.

"Well," she said, eventually. "I'm told I'm very sure of myself."

"You mentioned."

He was discharged in the fifth week, on a grey Tuesday morning, arm fully healed, readings clean for the first time since bay four. Ginny signed the last of his paperwork at the nurses' station, and told herself the strange, hollow feeling in her chest was just the natural comedown of a case finally closing.

He found her there, coat already on, looking distinctly like a man who didn't know how to end this particular conversation.

"So," he said. "That's it, then. Clean bill of health."

"That's it." She capped her quill. "You're free to go be reckless again. Try to space it out more than every fortnight, if you can manage it."

"No promises," he said, and it landed the same way it had five weeks ago, except nothing about it felt the same at all.

He didn't leave. She didn't tell him to.

"I don't actually know how this works," he admitted, after a moment. "The — after. There isn't really a protocol for what you're supposed to say to the Healer who spent five weeks keeping you alive and figuring out you weren't dying after all."

"There isn't a protocol on my end either," Ginny said. "Patients don't usually stick around to ask."

"I'm not most patients."

"No," she agreed. "You were significantly worse."

That got the real laugh out of him, the one she'd been chasing for weeks without quite admitting that's what she'd been doing. I'm pretty obsessed with the concept of a Jily lives (everyone lives) AU where Harry grows up being friends with the Weasleys and him and Ginny are "boyfriend and girlfriend" and have a fake wedding that they take very seriously and everything.

It stops when they are like 9 but they get forever teased about it up until the moment where they actually start dating for real again and eventually get actually married. And they make a joke like this is our fifth wedding.

Without fail, every time a woman is talking about how she does not want to have children and never wants to be pregnant and how medical professionals, romantic interests and family members keep trying to bulldoze her decision and keep expecting her to change her mind because motherhood is something that is expected of all women and it is abhorrent to think a woman could not desire it, a random mother spawns in the comments to be like “Well, actually, you never know! I didn’t want children and then I got pregnant and I realized I love being a mama and I have five little babies now! Could happen to you! 🥰”

Sister, keep that to yourself or make your own goddamn post, you are ignoring that woman’s central concern and belittling her, you don’t even think you’re doing it. Formerly childfree women who ended up having children and loving it are like detransitioners in the sense that there is nothing inherently wrong with changing your mind about having children or realizing you were mistaken about your gender identity but immediately weaponizing your indecision to tell people that the barriers to healthcare and the violations of their bodily autonomy and the way society ignores that person’s wishes is actually okay because you were wrong. Some people do know themselves.

We will never know because there is an extreme taboo against admitting you regret having children, especially for women to admit they regret having children since they’re repeatedly told by society that they should love being a mother. And it is sad, no child should ever have parents that regret them. That’s why I support people who are childfree or on the fence about having children to remain childfree. It is always better for you, the individual, to one day regret never having children than for you to have children and realize you never wanted them and now you and your child are both suffering as a result. I believe becoming a parent should be an opt in thing and not a societal expectation or a matter of reluctant acceptance, people who are becoming parents should enthusiastically want to be parents.

There is a great LifeKit (npr) podcast about how to determine if you want to be child free or if you want children, and one of the best bits of it said that typically people can only get to 80% sure one way or the other.

While I appreciate that datapoint, I am also fully in agreement that if you’re questioning, the correct choice is to remain childfree so you don’t end up regretting having a child then bringing misery to both your lives.

Hello. I clean houses for a living. Here are some places in Your Dwelling that it's probably been a while since you've thought about cleaning. This is a judgement-free, non-exhaustive list of crap you should maybe get around to soon 👍

Bathroom:

☆ Front and base of the toilet (they get nasty and dusty really quick)

☆ Faucet (take a toothbrush and some all-purpose bathroom cleaner and give it a scrub to remove plaque from toothpaste and hard water buildup, then a wipedown. You will literally be shocked by the difference if you haven't cleaned it in a while)

☆ Consider removing the toilet seat and cleaning underneath it/getting at the hinges with a grout brush (in case you didn't know: it's fastened to the toilet by two large usually plastic screws under the tabs at the back, with nuts on the underside. Just unscrew the nuts and you can pop the whole seat off)

☆ Sink drains: they gather gunk and pink mold around and underneath the rim. You can loosen shit and scrub it away with some all-purpose cleaner and a toothbrush/grout brush (PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND BUY SOME SMALL GROUT BRUSHES)

☆ The floor: Mop that damn floor. Get in the corners and wipe down your baseboards too. This is best accomplished on your hands and knees if you have that capability. If not its whatever

Kitchen:

☆ Underneath your range hood! Theres grease filters under there that you can soak in degreaser and then scrub clean in the sink. Grease also likes to just hang out in that area, but if you spray it down with Fantastik or Method heavy duty degreaser it'll wipe right off.

☆ If you have stainless steel appliances, consider buffing them out once a month with stainless steel cleaner and a dry cloth. Wiping off those fingerprint smudges and fridge water drip stains is soooo satisfying

☆ Sink! Wash that sink! If it's stainless steel, use Bar Keeper's Friend powder on a wet surface to buff it out, with a Scrub Daddy or something, and get it looking shiny and new again. This can also be done on ceramic sinks - dirt magnetizes to any minor scratches in white ceramic, and giving it a scrub will erase those dark scratches.l

☆ Cabinets. Wipe that shit down brother. Especially the cabinets closest to your range!! If you have heavy grease buildup on your cabinets, try using something scritchy like a Scrub Daddy with some all-purpose cleaning spray to try and get it off. Failing that, do a spot test with some Fantastik etc degreaser spray to make sure you wont irrevocably fuck up your cabinets (theyre technically not meant to be used on porous surfaces like wood but sometimes a little rebellion is necessary) and if it doesnt melt the paint off then spray a cloth with it and give them a wipedown.

☆ You need to do a fridge cleanout. I know you do. After you clean out your fridge, take advantage of all that newfound space and wipe down the shelves with my best friend Fantastik and the sponge side of a Scrub Mommy. Im not sponsored or anything the shit is just goated

☆ Also on the list of shit you really dont want to do but need to: Clean the oven. Do not use the self-cleaning function, it gets way too hot and has a chance of actually ruining your oven in the long run. Take the racks out and soak them in warm baking soda water in your bathtub for, I dont know, as long as it takes to clean the rest of the oven? Usually 30 min-an hour. Spray the oven down with oven cleaner and LET IT SIT!!!! for as long as the product says it needs to sit. Then take a stainless steel scrubbing pad or some steel wool and go to town on that bitch. Some of the shit will not be coming off unless you are a professional oven cleaner, so just focus on getting out the crust and the really bad burnt bits (the flammable shit)

☆ Range: For an electric range, those drip pans are probably in need of a scrub. You can remove the heating elements and take out the drip pans beneath them to soak in the sink, then get at em with a stainless steel scrubber. For a gas range, I'm so sorry. Just take the grates off, spray some degreaser on the surface, and wipe it down. As far as the grates go, God went ahead and abandoned us on that one, but if you must - degreaser soak and a stainless steel scrubber.

Bedrooms:

☆ When was the last time you dusted your ceiling fan?

☆ When was the last time you got at those baseboards?

☆ Bedsheets and bed linens: I know, me too. If it's been more than two weeks, change your sheets - and if you've got a duvet, it's probably time to wash it and the cover you've had on it for way too long. I am calling myself out here basically by name.

☆ Bedside tables: It's time for a declutter and a dust. Put things in jewelry boxes and medicine cabinets where they belong, wipe shit down, and have a beautiful clean place to put your phone at night

General:

☆ If you want your Zone to immediately look 50% cleaner, vacuum your rugs and carpets and wash your wood(/laminate/LVP/etc) floors

☆ I'm telling you man. Baseboards. Especially if you have pets, those things can get SO nasty. A wet wipe of your baseboards will make a world of difference.

☆ I highly recommend buying something you can dust up high with. Get at those cobwebs and the caked-up dust on your ceiling fan. Also super useful for a quick baseboard dust - you can just run that shit along without having to bend over

☆ These are all things that really only need to be done once every couple months at most. Dont break your back making any of this a part of your regular weekly-to-monthly routine.
