What's happening in Gaza is something no person should ever have to bear, let alone entire families, let alone entire communities. And yet I see people here with so little sympathy for those who manage to share their experiences here in the hopes of meeting their goal. Imagine having to expose yourself, completely and utterly, and lay every horrible thing that's happened to you bare in front of a foreign stranger in the hopes that maybe they'll give you a drop in the bucket against the skyrocketing costs of the things you need to live.
The bottom line is, there's a lot of people asking for a lot of help because there's a lot of help needed. If you're really concerned about scammers, you should be reassured by the fact that GoFundMe is donation-protected. They will refund your donation if you need them to, and I'm sure they'll jump at the opportunity to do so. If you can't donate, that's completely fine, but you can share. No matter who you are or what your blog theme is, you can always share.
I'm trying to write more because I feel like writing more helps. It helps you see it. You see it right now, and whatever you do with that from here on out is a choice you make. Mohammed ( @yazanfamilly ) reached out to me today asking me to support his fundraiser. He was a programmer, and his wife was a teacher. Now their lives, along with the lives of their young children, are in constant danger from bombing, displacement, and destruction. There is no safe place in Gaza anymore, and they have decided to evacuate in order to make it someplace safer.
It costs $5000 to evacuate a single adult from Gaza. For Mohammed and his family to evacuate, as well as to cover the steep cost of basic necessities like food and water, and of starting a life elsewhere, they are trying to raise €50000 (the equivalent of roughly $56000 USD). They have reached just 23% of their goal.
Hello, I am Mohammad Taysir, 34 years old, a Palestinian living in Gaz… Mohammed Alanqar needs your support for Save My Family from the War
Your donation of just $5 USD can help them pay for these things. Your choice to share their story and fundraiser can help get it to other people who can donate, even if you are unable to donate to them yourself. Please, please help them in whatever way you can, whether that's by donating or sharing their story.
Mohammed, I wish you and your family safety, health, and a quick evacuation. I hope this post helps you and your family reach your goal, and that you can get your family to safety as soon as possible.
