also I don't think parents "these days" are uniquely terrible, I just think neglect is showing up in new ways as technology progresses. today's ipad kid would've been wandering around in a ditch alone all day and night before. parents not wanting to have to deal with children is not a new phenomenon.

It's nuts how common it is to not allow children to be angry, even (especially) in households where adults are angry all the time. As a child I knew my own anger was unacceptable--not just expressing it outwardly but feeling it at all. So now as an adult my immediate reaction to my own anger is often to feel guilt instead of like. Noticing when someone is being rude or unfair or my boundaries are being violated or whatever. fucked up.

Living in the USA feels so dystopian. I want NEED to leave here...

Magne Hot Take??? (Mha)

I honestly think that Magne not physically appearing like a female and her not having fully transitioned is actually a good thing for her character design. When I saw her for the first time, as a trans guy, I felt so seen since for the first time in media, I saw a trans person who hadn’t fully transitioned, and was still accepted as a woman by the LOV. It gave me hope that even though I couldn’t transition physically yet, I could still be perceived as the man I always have known I was. To have a transgender person AT ALL in a HUGELY popular show in it of itself is honestly SO amazing. It allows people to be seen in a show they love even if it’s not a main character.

The only thing I don’t like about her, is that she is a villain. Not to say that transgender people can’t be bad people, they absolutely can be. But considering the stereotypes surrounding transgender women, it wasn’t the best decision to make a villain out of all the characters a transgender woman. Transfems are CONSTANTLY being labeled as “dangerous predators” and considering that she is a villain who has killed 3 people and attempted to kill almost 30, it just solidifies that stereotype in the media.

Despite that though, I still love that she is one of the characters in MHA that are transgender. She is a strong, independent woman who is ACCEPTED by the people around her despite her not physically appearing completely female which is AMAZING to see in such a popular show. I love her as a character and it makes me so sad to see her get hated on for things she doesn’t have control over.

I honestly think that we need more trans representation that shows the character before/during transition considering all the transmeds out there. It is so amazing for other trans people who can’t transition to be able to see these characters and know that they’re not alone.

Anyways I love Magne she is a wonderful character and i’m so sad she was killed off 💔
