"making them afraid will make them more racist" that's wild to me, because we live in a whole culture of social consequences for antiracism anyway. It is literally safer to be a racist than it is to speak up against it, socially.

Idk about you, but "I'm afraid no one will want to be my friend if I'm a white supremacist" seems like a pretty logical thought process to have, and I wish THAT were the normal and not "I'm afraid my friends will hate me if I tell them they made racist jokes".

Racism against Indians is actually a little insane when you consider how widespread it is even among liberals and leftists . An issue consistently ignored by supposedly anti-war politicians in America is that West Asian people are people. Everything is about how it affects Americans, American lives, the American economy, American soldiers, American tax dollars. You don't see Iranians, Iraqis, or Afghans as real people who are facing worse things at the hand of your government than you ever will. Yes war money should probably be going to free healthcare but forgive me if the well-being of the citizens of the perpetrating country aren't as high on my list of people to care about as the people affected.

What in the hell is wrong with you people. Stop doing white guilt in my inbox and start going outside and making friends with actual real life POC in your area. Fucking hell.

The problem with white guilt is it, once again, forces y'all's problems onto us. When you say "I'm soo sorry for being white, I hate being white, white people are trash, etc etc etc" you are putting us in a position where we feel obligated to say that you're not that bad, to accept your apology on "behalf" of all white people, to make you feel better. And even if we don't, you're still changing the conversation from our struggles as a POC to center your performative guilt. Stop it. Cut the shit. Just build connections with POC in real life, and call out other white people on their racism when you see it.

For anyone reading this who does actually care about community action: if you want to get involved in legal or political action, there are plenty of lobbying organizations supporting all kinds of legislation that will ask for your signature on their petitions, or ask you to make phone calls or send letters, no expense required. You can also meet with your legislators or their staff in person by appointment. You do not have to influence national policy to make a positive difference for people of color.
