❝ You know, when I was kid, I would have given anything to be exactly like everybody else. ❞
“Tell me about it.”
“have you seen an owl? very cute? he comes to hector.”
“Uh... No?”
xfdominik:
“Overly needy and a handful to take care of?” Dominik joked, his laugh alerting the little beast who then began licking at Dominik’s face. He scratched the little thing behind his ears, admiring the goofy grin on it’s face. “You got me a dog because–Adaline, I can handle myself you know.” But even he knew, and he thought that maybe it was the reason he had yet to be married off. No one wanted to be around him.
The dog settled in his lap and he took that moment to look over the papers. “I’ll have to think on it. Names are important and he should have one that suits him well.” Dom pushed the papers to the side. “Thank you Adaline, for everything.”
“And yet, you still keep me around. Did you ever think there was a reason for that?” Adaline lifting her hand, resting her elbow on her leg and leant into it, watching the pair bond in front of her, she knew she’d made the right decision.
“I know you can, you’re a big boy.” Her tone held a tone of teasing, but her expression was a serious smile. “I’ve been your friend for years Dom and the entire time all I’ve ever thought is that you needed a dog. And since apparently you weren’t getting yourself one anytime soon, I decided to step in.”
She listened to him with a smile, nodding at the end once the papers had been pushed away. “You’re welcome. Treat him well. He can be your mascot while you’re in the ring.”
xfdominik:
Dominik huffed breaths as he slowed, his fists dropping to his sides. “I’m sorry–what?” Had she just said that the dog was for him? “Adds, I really can’t–” Bet unfortunately the stupid little way the dog approached him caused a strange feeling in his chest.
Dom knelt down, his hands a little bruised and still wrapped up as they coddled the little dog. “You’re a sneaky one, Adds.” He mentioned as he moved to sit on the floor, the dog being pulled onto his lap. “Why a dog, out of curiosity?”
At first she hesitated, wanting to see if she had misgauged Dom’s reaction to the small creature, but when he responded the way she had expected him to, she relaxed, taking a seat on the floor across from him.
“Because it’s another version of me.” She pointed out, her tone teasing, though after a second, she shook her head. “Because you need a dog. You need something loyal and loving and unfaithful in its devotion to you. You need someone who won’t leave your side even at your worst.” Reaching into her bag, Adaline pulled out the adoption papers, she had filled out everything except for the space for the name.
“That was why I picked a pitbull. Because they’ve got a worse reputation than you do in the ring.”
Charlotte walked the halls of the castle with a book in her hands. This was something she’d perfected at a young age–the ability to walk and read at the same time. Her eyes scanned the page, each word like a memory of a distant time and yet she had never lived it herself. It always felt that way, carried her off and landed her in a world different from her own. She loved being able to feel the wind as if it were rustling the end of her dress–even if she was standing indoors. Her fantasy came to an end when she very nearly flattened herself against a wall–or a person, who knew? She peeked over the edge of her book. “Sorry–guess I’m not used to this place yet.”
“Lottie?” Adaline wasn’t sure why she was so surprised, Charlotte had every right to be there, as much as she did, but she was still surprised, maybe she’d just been so caught up in the Freya drama that she’d forgotten a world outside of Greece existed. She threw her arms around her childhood friend, setting her chin on the girl’s shoulder, the book that she had been holding now crushing Adaline’s breasts.
“I have so much to tell you.”
yrkpnrnfrss·:
“I had a lot worse when a certain princess was protecting her brother from me protecting him. I’ll survive.”
“I suppose that comes with the job.”
crwnprncssfrya:
“I’m not stuck with you. I want to be with you for the rest of eternity,” She pulled back pouting as she moved to pull her with her wanting to be out of the hallway so that she could privately enjoy the moment with her fiance. “That doesn’t change the fact that I’m going to want to marry you the first moment that I get. That way they really cannot change their minds on me.”
“Same meaning, different translation.” She smiled, following Freya’s pull blindly. Adaline listened to Freya’s fears but even they couldn’t pull the smile from her face. “They won’t change their minds. I won’t let them. But let’s not rush this. I still want a dream wedding.”
xfdominik·:
Dom continued throwing punches at the bag till his fists burned from the friction against the fabric. Adaline’s voice broke his concentration and as he threw a few more punches in attempt to diffuse his aggressed rage he heard the bark let out. “You got yourself a dog?” He asked, huffing breaths as he turned to look at her. “Or for Freya?”
“No.” Adaline smirked at Dom before she suddenly placed the unnamed puppy on the ground, watching as it recognised his scent and ran towards him, tripping over its own feet in the rush. “I got you a dog.”
She walked around Dom into his line of sight behind the punching bag as the small pitbull puppy jumped up on his leg excitedly. “I stole one of your jumpers to give to the breeder so it would recognise your scent.”
crwnprncssfrya:
“No crying, my love,” Freya whispered as she rubbed her back tenderly and held on to her. She knew though that it wasn’t sad tears they were both over joyed and had a lot going on. She still hated the idea of her crying though.
“Do you think we could get away with eloping? At least if we’re officially married our parents can’t change their minds,” she pointed out as she pulled back slightly looking her in the face with so much relief. “And I’m going to be your wife.”
Adaline could understand Freya’s fear, her change in fiancé was sudden compared to Adaline who had been stuck in limbo waiting for a partner. She didn’t share the same fear as Freya, but that didn’t make the woman’s feelings any less valid. “They won’t pull out.” She told her softly, lifting her hands to hold Freya’s face with a smile.
“I’m American. Do you know how stupid it would be to anger me or my family? Let’s face it. You’re stuck with me forever.”
yrkpnrnfrss·:
“Nah it’s just a scratch.”
“If you’re sure...”
jianyuofchina:
“Ah, I wouldn’t mind, thank you,” Jianyu said, carefully draining a blister on his hand. “Don’t ask me where I got this because I have no clue.”
“Well. That answers my next question.” She nodded, looking away as he drained it, her nose screwing up.
eviexofxestonia:
Evie looked up from where she had her finger stuck in her mouth thanks to a paper cut, blinking a couple of times before she nodded. “Yes please,” she mumbled around her finger, taking it out and looking at the cut to see if it had mostly stopped bleeding.
Adaline gave a nod before she started to dig through her bag, eventually finding a bandaid she handed it over to the woman, a concerned look on her face. “What did you do?”
crwnprncssfrya:
Freya’s heart stopped in her chest when Adaline pulled away from her but the fear was quickly put to rest as she reached up cupping cheeks as she pulled away in order to break the smile while she smiled happily. She knew she had to look crazy to anyone else but she didn’t care.
“You’re mine. You’re officially mine and I still can’t believe it,” she admitted shifting to run her hand through Addy’s hair. She was still waiting for someone to wake her up.
Mine.
That one word started the tears once more, sliding down her cheeks and crashing into Freya’s hands on her cheeks. There was no way this was real. But it felt real. Everything felt real. So it had to be.
“I never want to let you go again.” Adaline confessed, letting her head drop to Freya’s shoulder, nuzzling her face into the woman’s neck. Screw anyone that walked by.
“I’m going to be your wife.”
crwnprncssfrya:
Freya hadn’t realized who the flurry of hair was until the familiar feeling of Adaline’s arms were around her as she quickly returned the embrace as tightly as she could manage. “I love you, Addy,” she told her quickly feeling the relief melt off of her as she was allowed to actually feel what she was and enjoy the moment as much as possible.
She didn’t hesitate for a moment when she pulled back in order to press a quick kiss against her lips as she smiled. She didn’t have to hide anymore and she could openly love Addy as much as she wanted.
Adaline couldn’t help herself, when Freya’s lips touched hers she pulled away, eyes wide and afraid that someone had seen them. It had been too long of them hiding their feelings for each other that it didn’t feel real that they could be openly affectionate.
But they could.
“I love you too.” She whispered before she pressed her lips against Freya’s again, pressing her body as tightly against the princess’s as she could.
Dominik continued throwing his fists at the punching bag that was chained up and hanging from the ceiling. Each hit recoiled just a bit back into the fist that was wrapped and ready to go at it again. Even as the door opened he didn’t take his focus off the swaying bag, powder littering the floor in a light dusting below it. “Don’t,” he huffed. “recommend,” and again. “coming closer.”
Even though Adaline often acted aloof and played up the ‘dumb princess’ persona that many people liked to bestow upon her, she was far more intelligent than most people presumed of her and never stepped into any decision lightly. She had also known Dom for many years now and she knew the man inside and out, every inch of who he was, was a familiar map of hers that she could navigate in the dark, the dark being his anger. Many years ago she’d decided that he needed a dog, she knew that it would work well with his temperament and anger management, she’d even had a suspicion that the topic had come up in his therapy sessions, not that she’d ever asked. Adaline had waited patiently for Dom to go ahead and adopt a dog that would suit his personality, but he hadn’t.
So in light of the stress of the entire Greek situation, she’d decided to take matters into her own hands. Adaline had done as much as she possibly could into whether a pitbull terrier would suit Dominik’s personality, and when she was positive that it was the right dog she picked the puppy up from a well known breeder.
The animal sat in her arms, a blue bow around its neck as she stepped into the gym, watching as Dom slammed his fists into the bag. Hopefully, the two would get on like a house on fire.
“Really? Because I think someone wants to see you.” She called out, looking down at the puppy who was staring at Dom, its tail wagging in excitement against her chest. At the end of her sentence, the animal gave an excited bark, its ears perked up in anticipation.
Adaline’s eyes shifted back to Dom, a knowing smirk pulling at her lips.
“Do you need a bandaid for that? I’ve got a few in my bag.”
Freya knew that she had a smile on her face that seemed to be permanent since the phone call from her parents. Despite the cold winter outside the walls nothing could get to her. “It’s a beautiful day outside isn’t it?”
She had cried, a lot, upon receiving the phone call from her parents, informing her that their current plans for her engagement had been tossed aside after a lengthy discussion with the King and Queen of Sweden. The moment her parents ended the phone call, she moved as fast she could, searching the palace for Freya until she found her.
Within two seconds her arms were around the woman and she was crying again, pressing her face against Freya’s neck, her voice caked in happiness. “Yes. Yes it is.”
