“The Real You” title card makes me giggle as they captured Finn in this relaxed state as apart of the cosmos and due to whatever brush they used it makes it look like he has lashes giving him almost a feminine touch which I think is beautiful (even if unintentional).
“It came from the Nightosphere” title card is just as beautiful but also completely adorable!! It shows Finn & Marceline floating towards the moon while highfive-ing captivating their friendship which I believe is stunning (& also underrated) especially in current day where its known men & women struggle being “just friends”.
I would honestly get these framed in my house, props to the adventure time artists!! 💐
my take on the obsession movie that no one asked for. ᢉ𐭩
Note: really this is just me yapping about a movie I enjoyed, nothing is supposed to be taken seriously especially the way I discuss the topics/grammer.
Rating: 9.5/10
-0.5 points because after watching the movie I was too scared to peacefully take a shower and kept peeping behind the curtain, this movie genuinely scared me showerless.
TW: mentions of suicide, death (of a cat too), self-harm, incest
When we are introduced to Bear the first thing we discover about him is that he has a crush on his dear friend Nikki which is the center of his character throughout the entirety of the film. Aside from that we witness him finding his cat Sandy dead on the floor due to getting into his pill bottle he left out yet he refuses to acknowledge or even really take accountability for Sandy's death as he asks,
"How did you get into these?"
showing that he fails to acknowledge his own mistakes, followed by him going out with his friends (specifically for Nikki) displaying his lack of accountability for indirectly accidentally killing Sandy. I think this is a great introduction into exactly the type of man Bear is as he fails to acknowledge or take accountability for Sandy as he does with Nikki later on when Nikki becomes too much for Bear to handle once the entity version of Nikki becomes violently psychotic. As once Bear basically loses everything (his house is destroyed, his friends are dead, Nikki is bonkers) rather than killing Nikki as the real version of Nikki begged him too he killed himself.
Bear is also obsessed with Nikki as well as having a sense of control over her, as despite being made aware of entity Nikki's lies and experiencing her actions he does not confide in Sarah or Ian about Nikki's insanity nor calls 911 or any help services highlighting how a part of him ENJOYED the entity version of Nikki that he was able to do as he pleased with. Bear's obsession is directly revealed twice as he calls the number on the 'One Wish Willow" box and instead of instantly asking for his wish to be cancelled he tries to alter it revealing that he still wants Nikki to love him or at least does not hate how she is acting; alongside when the real Nikki was begging Bear to kill her because of how much pain and agony she was in due to the entity taking over her body Bear responded with,
"What's so bad about being with me?"
rather than simply sniping Nikki which could have not only stopped the whole situation but also saved Sarah and Ian's lives. Chills, literal chills because despite Bear and Nikki being so close that Nikki considers Bear a brother, Bear could not give a rats butt about basically taking away Nikki's livelihood and autonomy.
With being obsessed with Nikki and taking away her autonomy, Bear still attempted to cheat on her with Sarah after potentially gaining feelings for her, adding an extra layer to Bear being the real villain of the story as despite having Nikki's entity be obsessed with him and refusing to take any action against it once he viewed her as too much for him he tried to go after Sarah. This is a direct parallel to many relationships in today's society as there are so many men who leave relationships once they view them as too much for them such as once they have a kid and can not handle the pressure, or begin living with their partner not being able to deal with the reality of commitment. Which is exactly what Bear's issue is, that he does not want to commit to facing the consequences of his actions whether that be killing Nikki and potentially going to jail or living a life with Nikki's entity.
Nikki is like Obsession's Lucy Gray Baird from hunger games as we see her for almost the entirety of the movie yet know nothing about her other than she is a writer before the entity takes over her. Arguably, Bear also knows not much about her either as when the entity takes over crying saying,
"My dad is dying"
Bear does not ask any questions be simply begins comforting her and doing what she says which is going back to his place. Which we the audience learn later that Nikki is not even close with her father let alone even like him, so why did Bear 'fall' into that trap of Nikki being upset about him being sick? Because he does not know or really care about her as a person, if anything he only cares because he likes her.
One of the most disturbing parts of Nikki is how as the entity controls her body while the real Nikki is still conscious and aware yet can not act on anything almost like sleep paralysis except her actions are not her own as she is forced to be romantic and sexual with someone she never viewed that way. There is a scene where entity Nikki pees herself after Bear goes to work as she is waiting by the door for him to come home which is portrayed 2 ways.
That it is the real Nikki attempting to make her physical body seem undesirable, as Nikki also soils herself and threw up all while not attempting to clean it up or wash herself, which could be Nikki trying to get Bear to believe she is disgusting and leave her alone. ༻· ·𐡷··𐡸· ·༺ ··𐫱·· ༻· ·𐡷··𐡸· ·༺ ··𐫱·· ༻· ·𐡷··𐡸· ·༺ ··𐫱·· ༻· ·𐡷·
Nikki's entity is trying to resemble Bear's cat that he loved so dearly in an attempt to make Bear love her like he loved his cat, because as she expresses time and time again she believes Bear does not love her as much as she loves him, so if she can resemble or be Bear's cat that he loved so much maybe he could love her like that. ·𐡸· ·༺ ··𐫱·· ༻· ·𐡷··𐡸· ·༺ ··𐫱·· ༻· ·𐡷··𐡸· ·༺ ··𐫱·· ༻· ·𐡷··𐡸· ·༺ ··𐫱··
Nikki's interpretation of her and Bear's relationship as brother and sister is what prompts the poem she presents when out at Ian's place about Hansel and Gretel having an incestuous relationship, it symbolizes how Nikki views the relationship she is having with Bear. Whether Nikki had feelings for Bear or not her poem about Hansel and Gretel is confirmation that she only ever saw Bear as a brother or her feelings for him have completely gone away due to what has happened. In her poem she remarks,
"I knew he would not leave this place. He would relent and choose to be inside of me like he had many nights before."
implying her feelings over Bear taking advantage of her as Bear would originally refuse to comply with entity Nikki's absolute insanity yet would eventually give in. This is a direct implication of how Bear is actively taking advantage of Nikki yet no matter how psycho entity Nikki acts or how concerning Nikki behavior is Bear will continue to basically use entity Nikki to fulfill his fantasy of having Nikki to himself. Alongside how traumatized Nikki is from being stuck in this body being forced to have intimacy and a relationship with her "brother" (or one she views as a brother) while proposing just how damaged she is from the situation as a whole. Nikki closes her poem with,
"Hansel is my soul. Love only the branch of a willow tree could conjure. Brother, you will be inside of me tonight."
essentially expressing how real Nikki would not be so desperate to be with Bear or do anything to be with him as all of her love and obsession over Bear was only from the One Wish Willow and would not have happened otherwise. As well as how Bear is the one being reluctant to be with her as if this was real Nikki more likely Nikki would be the one to be hesitant over their relationship.
On Nikki and Bear's date we see the entity Nikki give Bear her tiger's eye which shows Nikki giving up her protection to Bear symbolizing how defenseless the real Nikki really is in this situation that Bear caused. We see this defenselessness once the scene cuts to Nikki and Bear being intimate and while entity Nikki is making sounds signaling she enjoys it we see a glimpse of real Nikki as she looks at the camera with absolute misery. This suggests that perhaps the reason Nikki was able to resist the entity and wake up was thanks to the protection that her Tiger's Eye gave her, which was no longer able to once given to Bear. But after Nikki gives up her Tiger's Eye we no longer witness real Nikki snapping back into reality or fight back against the entity like she used too, instead we see real Nikki only really having the power to use her voice while the entity is asleep.
++ We see Bear at the crystal shop get recommended the Tiger's Eye necklace by the worker but he puts it back once he sees the One Wish Willow (which he did not know was real or not), emphasizing how little he really knew or valued Nikki as her own person since Nikki gifting him her Tiger's Eye shows that the real Nikki may have actually really loved the Tiger's Eye necklace Bear was originally recommended.
Nikki's ending ultimately is a heartbreaking tragedy as once Bear kills himself to get rid of the wish's effects the real Nikki is left to clean up the mess or face the consequences of Bear's actions basically for him, which most people believe is commentary on relationships in today's society where women have to handle the mess of a broken relationship whether that be breaking up with their partner who lost feelings a long time ago but was too chicken to do it themselves or having to take responsibility of what came from it such as a child. Nikki literally had her life taken away from her as her last use of free will was giving a homeless man cash, but now she will most likely be in prison for life charged for the murder of her best friends.
++ A detail I am absolutely in love with is how once the entity takes over Nikki’s body her face is consistently covered with darkness compared to when we are first introduced to her and her face is entirely visible. We see this throughout the film contributing to the uncanny horror aspect of the movie.
Sarah is a character that you have to put yourself in her shoes to really grasp the situation she is in as well as understand where her actions are coming from. It is revealed that Sarah has obvious feelings for Bear and may know that Nikki does not like Bear or view Bear as romantic via Ian (which probably could have resulted from Sarah confiding in her that she has feelings for Bear), yet despite Nikki telling Sarah this Nikki starts dating him while beginning to have her life completely revolve around him to the point of isolation. That alone is a good enough reason to be upset or absolutely mind boggled at the situation especially since she (with everybody else) is unaware of Bear using a One Wish Willow to get Nikki to love him.
I feel like how damaging the situation must have been for Sarah does not get discussed like at all since I have seen so many people post:
"Yeah, I would also smash a bitch's head into a brick if she wanted to see my man alone at night"
but Sarah most likely just wanted some light on the situation, to understand what was really happening. Not once does she tell Bear to break up with her rather she expresses that their relationship looks toxic and that it looks like either:
Bear is taking advantage of Nikki being in a terrible mental state to be with her/get what he wants from her ·𐡸· ·༺ ··𐫱·· ༻· ·𐡷··𐡸· ·༺ ··𐫱·· ༻· ·𐡷··𐡸· ·༺ ··𐫱·· ༻· ·𐡷··𐡸· ·༺ ··𐫱··
Nikki is taking advantage of Bear's feelings for her to get back at Ian/get something she want ·𐡸· ·༺ ··𐫱·· ༻· ·𐡷··𐡸· ·༺ ··𐫱·· ༻· ·𐡷··𐡸· ·༺ ··𐫱·· ༻· ·𐡷··𐡸· ·༺ ··𐫱··
She is simply expressing that their relationship not only does not look the best but also may be built on an extremely toxic foundation. As not only is Nikki telling Sarah that Bear is like a brother is weird but also the fact that Nikki and Ian have been casually hooking up for 2years yet she ends up with Bear spontaneously and becomes completely obsessed with him. Not to mention how hurt Sarah must have been to discover her best friend (Nikki) dating the guy she likes.
Ian character has more depth than being the billion dollar guy, as in the opening scene of the movie where Bear is getting ready to confess his feelings for Nikki, Ian is supposed to be helping him; yet when the girl Bear is practicing on offers some suggestions/input Ian basically shoos her away than suggests that Bear call Nikki "Freaky Nikki" an old nickname. Bear response is immediately calling out that Nikki hates being called that but Ian insists its flirty banter, which later in the movie when Bear actually goes through with Ian suggestion Nikki openly expresses how she hates being called that and asks why Bear would even call her that knowing she hates it.
Ian also disrupts their alone time at the bar once Bear begins thinking about making a move on Nikki than acts surprised when discovering Bear did not tell her his feelings yet. I feel like this is more than a light-hearted scene of the best friend disrupting the romance in a film, I believe Ian was eager for Bear to confess so he could get a sense of validation that Nikki only "likes" him or that Bear is out of the picture so he can keep Nikki to himself. As Sarah exposes near the end of the film that Nikki and Ian have been hooking up which ties into Ian's character as it begins to make sense why Ian may have gave Bear a faulty suggestion (freaky Nikki) as well as got between Bear and Nikki in their little moments.
Overall, enjoyed this movie and loved how fresh it was in a world where cinema is being toppled by sequels, remakes and constant superhero movies. It was honestly one of my first experiences with uncanny horror in films and it was terrifyingly brilliant as there are so many little details that you can find in the movie it makes you want to watch it over and over again to discover all the different layers.
! everything is what has occurred as of 10.27.25 !
This began when people began to notice Leah Ashe & MeganPlays who have been known to be very close friends for years now were not following each other, soon enough after Megan posted on instagram with the caption "Make or break" that received mass amounts of supporting comments that kinda gave away the fact that something was wrong within her personal life but at the time nobody (at least fan-wise) really knew anything.
The supporting comments alongside the unfollowing between the 2 best-friends provided the conclusion that the situation was most likely some type of feud between the 2.
─── ⋆⋅☼⋅⋆ ───── ⋆⋅☼⋅⋆ ───── ⋆⋅☼⋅⋆ ────── ⋆⋅☼⋅⋆ ───
Soon enough, the news eventually came out:
Leah Ashe & Zach (MeganPlays husband) are having an affair
this would simply be a controversial rumor until a video of Leah & Zach canoodling at Disney with matching Mickey & Minnie sweaters would be posted on social media going viral across multiple platforms going as far to trend on Twitter /X (yikes), proving the rumors of Zach & Leah having a relationship were true.
^ Matching sweaters as if he didn't have a child & got married to her best-friend; ew.
─── ⋆⋅☼⋅⋆ ──── ⋆⋅☼⋅⋆ ──── ⋆⋅☼⋅⋆ ─── ⋆⋅☼⋅⋆───
Megan would then become actively more open about the situation through her captions on Instagram & TikTok, as well liking & replying to comments mentioning the affair. As the controversy became more known, the video of Zach & Leah at Disney went viral on TikTok which Megan posted a TikTok about seeing a 'heinous' video roughly the same time of the video's popularity.
─── ⋆⋅☼⋅⋆ ───── ⋆⋅☼⋅⋆ ───── ⋆⋅☼⋅⋆ ───── ⋆⋅☼⋅⋆ ───
LeahAshe has failed to publicly acknowledge her affair or Megan since the rumors dropped which says enough tbh.
Additionally: Zach as unfollowed Megan while still following Leah & someone recently mentioned how Zach has liked all of Leah's instagram posts but there were many posts of Megan that he had left unliked which is lowkey so scummy.
Zach & Leah are genuinely some form of evil for putting Megan in the situation she is in, losing your husband & father of your children to your best-friend is such a tough situation to be in, I just hope she is doing okay. ♡︎
10.27.25 UPDATE:
Megan has confirmed her and Zach are getting a divorce & she is single via a TikTok.
