“I just don’t know what to think right now. I feel like this all came out of nowhere. I don’t know what’s going on, really,” he held her hand and smiled a bit at Twitches, “That’s good. She needed some cheering up. She’s basically in love with Callum, and she really misses him, as well as Melanie, of course.”

Andromeda sighed, “What about Gideon? you haven’t been with him since before the wedding; maybe you can spend more time with him? and Molly is about to have her baby, I’m sure she needs help too.”

“Yeah, I guess. I just…well, i hope she doesn’t want to fix this in the same way that Marlene always ‘fixes things’ with Sirius, but I don’t really think that’s something I need to worry about, given that breaking up isn’t a simple thing when you’re married. I hope she owls me before too long.”

“I don’t think she’s like Marlene, at least not in that way.”  she said taking his hand with her free one, “Melanie loves you, I know is hard but you two can make it. In the mean time, I think Twitches feels better.” she joked.

He ran his hand through his hair, “It just seems like, lately, what she’s wanted has been to not really talk all that much. She wants to work, she doesn’t want to be home. I don’t really know how to fix that without talking to her first, so I’m not really sure what to do while I wait it out, other than fix that selfish side of me.” Twitches was clearly happy as she stayed snuggled into Dora, purring.

“Well, just sit and let her come to you? maybe all she needs is space; not only from you but from everything. As I recalled Marlene and her just acknowledge each other and aren’t on top of each other; so that might be it. I know is hard.”

“It’s always in the right place, but that’s clearly not enough to keep things good between us,” he sighed, running a hand through his hair, “I hope you’re right. I don’t know what I’d do if we couldn’t work things out.” Twitches purrsed as she licked Dora, happily snuggled into her.

“I know it is, Fab.” she sighed, “Things are not always easy, doesn’t mean they end just because. I mean, look at me and Ted; most of the time he’s half scared I’m going to flip again; but we are open and talk about things. Maybe being open, without pushing towards the direction you want things to take can be a solution?” she offered as Dora kept making happy sounds at Twitches.

“Yeah, I know. I can be an idiot sometimes. It’s something I need to work on,” he nodded, “I’ve honestly felt like I’ve been annoying her lately. She always wants to keep focused on her work, and when I try to arrange a date night or something, she doesn’t want to stop working, so I haven’t tried lately. I don’t want to annoy her. I guess I should have tried more, though, or…something.” Twitches jumped a bit as Dora took her ear into her mouth, but stayed snuggled into her.

“Sometimes, but not all the time. your heart is in the right place; that’s the most important thing, right?” she asked with a smile and chuckled at Dora trying to stroke Twitches with her little hands, “She wants to help everyone, but I’m sure you two can work things out.”

“But I made it all about me, Andy. That was pretty bad of me. I should’ve handled that a whole lot better. Marlene seemed to think that it was a problem that’s been going on for a while. I mean…we haven’t really been talking much, but they can’t pin that on me.” Twitches purred as she licked Dora again, snuggling into her.

“That was... well that was dumb, Fab. It was a time to make it about her because you should know that she likes to be in control, and what would be more terrifying that not knowing half of your life.” she sighed and bit her bottom lip, “Is not all your fault, I mean it takes two to have a relationship, you might have done some things you shouldn’t, but that doesn’t mean is all your fault.” she pointed looking at Dora giggle again, going to take the cat’s eat on her mouth, “Oh no, that is not food,” she said summoning the pacifier and placing it in Dora’s mouth.

“I…didn’t exactly take that all too well, when she was in St. Mungo’s. I don’t really know what’s the whole problem, though, but it has to be pretty serious if she doesn’t want to come home. I just…I want to fix things, but I don’t even entirely know what the problem is,” Twitches moved to lick Dora cautiously, mewling a bit.

“I think you were just afraid of losing her over her memory, that’s completely normal; but Melanie has been through a lot lately and she might need some time to rediscover herself; not as your wife or as anyone else’s something, but just as Melanie.” she explained. The cats perked up at Twiches meow, being protective of the baby. Dora just giggled and tried holding the little cat.

“She doesn’t feel comfortable coming home, Andy. You’re supposed to look forward to going home to see your spouse, and I made her not even want to do it at all, and I didn’t even realize anything was wrong,” Twitches looked at Dora as Andy brought her over, slipping out of Fabian’s lap and moving over to her.

“Well you can be really persistent sometimes, and this whole losing her memory must have triggered something she didn’t know?” she offered as Dora made happy noises, while her little arms reached for Twitches, “Yeah dear, kitty, I know.” she said softly to the baby, holding her so she wouldn’t fall.

“They can be off,” he said quietly. He looked up at her through the curls of his hair. “You make me feel safe.” Ted squeezed tightly to her side, trying not to become nervous about the fact that this was the first time they’d actually be sleeping together.

Andromeda turned the lights off and pulled him closer as well, “You make me feel safe too,” she said quietly pecking his lips, “I love you, Teddy,” she really didn’t think it was a big deal; not now that he was afraid and the only thing in her mind was making him feel better. She kept playing with his curls and soon she started to hum, remembering how when his mother did it his worries would go away.

He shook his head. In the initial moments after his nightmare, he had wanted nothing more than his parents’ protection. Now he knew Andromeda was enough. “Stay with me?” He asked carefully, sniffling. He looked up at her before moving to lay down. “Is it okay if you stay with me here?”

Andromeda smiled at him and nodded, “Of course is okay, Teddy.” she said softly and pulled him closer, “There’s no other place I rather be.” she said cleaning his tears and kissing his forehead; she played with the ends of his hair, and rubbed his arm; “Want the lights on?”

“I’ve been a horrible husband…” Twitches purred a bit as Andy pet her, glancing over at her, “You’re also one of Melanie’s close friends, though. Marlene’s decided to completely take her side.”

“Why do you say that?” she asked softly smiling at Twitches, “I am, but that doesn’t mean I’ll take sides,” she said as Dora fussed over not being paid attention to, and Andromeda held her. “We need to cheer uncle Fab, Dora.” she said as the baby reached for Twitches.

“I’m almost twenty, thanks,” he corrected her. Ted then chuckled. “You’re the one dating a teenager, then. How does that look?” Ted circled his arm around Andromeda’s shoulder and pulled her closer, kissing her forehead.

“I’m dating a teen, what a time to be alive.” she chuckled and sighed happily at the kiss, she loved Ted’s little details; how he could make her feel better with just a look, and the smell of his cologne, but being wrapped around his arms had to be one of the best feelings in the world. She kissed his neck and looked back at the screen.

Ted loved Andromeda more than anybody, save for perhaps his parents. She’d rescued him from the hell hole that probably would have killed him. But it wasn’t just that she’d saved him; she was the kindest, gentlest, and most intelligent person he knew. Just the sight of her made him fall more madly in love.

Ted’s sobs eventually quieted, dying along with his panic. He listened to the sound of Andromeda’s heart echo in his ears and let go of his hold on her shirt.

Andromeda kept stroking Ted’s hair and talking softly to him, he needed good memories and images to make the evil her parents did off his mind. He deserve a better life, somewhere where he didn’t have to be afraid, or had night terrors, and she hoped that eventually they would all go away.

“Want me to go get your parents?” she didn’t move, not want to trigger him again, “I’m sure they won’t mind coming back earlier.”

“It definitely doesn’t feel like a good thing,” he sighed, leaning against her a bit, “I don’t want to drag you into this, Andy. I don’t want to make you pick a side or anything.”

“I know, Fab.” she reached and pet Twitches, “I won’t pick sides, that doesn’t mean I’ll stop being your sister, does it?”

Instead of flinching at her touch, he curled up against Andromeda. His tear stained face was buried in her chest as he cried. Ted allowed his girlfriend’s words to soothe him as much as possible. “N-No, don’t die..” Ted sobbed helplessly, clutching her shirt.

Andromeda kissed the top of his head and rubbed his back, “I won’t die, I’ll stay with you, for as long as you want me to.” she said sincerely, if it were for her she would stay with him forever, but she knew that there was a tiny possibility that Ted would find someone better, someone that wasn’t as tainted as she was and as linked to his past; however she hoped that day didn’t come any time soon, because she would die of sadness if that day ever came. “We’ll have the biggest ice cream, you know that one you need to eat whole to win the contest?” she continued softly, running a hand through his curls; “We can stay out late, see the stars?” she asked trying to put nice images in his head.

“She said she needed to think about things. I also need to work on myself a bit. It’s just temporary, though,” Twitches didn’t leave Fabian’s arms, staying oddly still for her, though she did look over at the other cats.

“Time apart is not necessarily a bad thing,” she commented wrapping her arm around him, “But I guess it doesn’t feel too great. You know you are always welcome here, if you need to spend sometime ‘not alone’.”
