The dog has megaesophagus, an enlargement of the esophagus that makes it hard to get food to move down into his gut. He requires the help of gravity to help move the bolus of food downward and so has to sit upright. This chair (called a Bailey chair) was designed to help dogs with this condition and would have otherwise been put down.

tchaikovsky is proud
In case anyone is baffled by this, there’s a Tchaikovsky piece in which there’s supposed to be a loud sound but he never specified what you should use to make that sound. People have done all kinds of weird shit depending on how they think the sound should, well, sound. Hitting a large piece of wood with a sledgehammer is a relatively conventional one.
This actually made me fucking cry.
I find this really fucking relevant today of all days.
Wtf is this tumblr?! You require me to change my password on the two accounts that use email addresses I can no longer access? Well that's flipping great, now then isn't it. And after I looked through the help information, couldn't find an answer and so sent off a message for help, i was redirected back to the non-helpful stuff I'd just looked at. I've got access through a mobile device, but can't change things so I can get access back on my computer. Not happy...
New earbuds that let you turn up or down the sounds around you.
But is not just about volume, you can also raise or lower the bass or adjust specific frequencies.
They also have preset filters that you can use to cancel out crowd noise or enhance the sound a concert venue.
“Riding on a bus? Just tap the “Bus” profile to drown out the low frequency hum. Walking around in a city? Tap the “City” or “Crowd” filters to tune out the murmurs and shouts. (There are also some crazier effects like “Echo” and “Fuzz.”)”
These have been created for the mass market but will have specific benefits to disabled people who want to block out sounds or for those who have hearing impairments.
“When you show up for a flight at an airport, the Here app could automatically suggest you switch to that profile. If you always set it to office mode at a certain location, the earbuds could start suggesting that filter when you arrive. Kraft’s ideas for Here go even farther than that, and they start to sound almost sinister. “I sometimes sit here with [the decibel setting at] +6 with just the door open and eavesdrop on the office, it’s kind of amazing,” Kraft jokes. “You can hear, like, the little conversations that you’re not supposed to hear.“The Here earbuds seem ready to tackle these everyday situations, but Kraft says they’re meant for more aggressive settings like live concerts, or the hustle and bustle of a big city.”
Called the Here Active Listening System by Doppler Labs, there is currently a waiting list to buy them.

This is interesting. And may be very useful to some. I find airplanes really noisy, which is probably part of why they’re so scary. Maybe it would help if I could actually turn the volume down. What do you guys think?
@punkrocknd check this out’
OK I need these. Sensory overload, background noise specifically, contributes so much tho my fatigue, it’s one of the biggest reasons I am confined to my home. Admin J

mother’s day related rant/vent
I’m not coping. If I see another ‘happy mother’s day’ thing, I’m either going to puke or scream. What do you do when you don’t have a mother, but instead have a life consuming, soul sucking monster who slithers in and invades your mind on a daily basis? What can you do when you cringe at the sound of their voice, flinch at the thought of their touch? I dread waking up some days, knowing that I’ll have to face her at some point.
Like, I went away for the weekend with my father, which was lovely. Mother wasn’t happy though, because I was getting all the attention and she was stuck at home with my siblings. She believed that it was her rite to go, to which my father argued the point because she had been on the last two trips, and is set to go on the next 3 trips. Anyway. I had a wonderful time out - got to catch up with friends, and we ended up adopting 3 snakes and 3 lizards, which was amazing! At no stage during the weekend was I scared or afraid of anything, because I didn’t need to worry about what was going to happen due to the lack of my mother.
Fast forward to when we get home. It’s late, mother is out with friends and so we go to bed, and all is good. Wake up in the morning, and i’m scared again. My heart races when I hear her voice and my body goes all tense because I know that I’ll have to deal with her. I just can’t. It’s a constant battle of ‘do this’, ‘deal with that’, ‘I’m too lazy to do this so you can do it for me’, ‘this is meant to be your job’, ‘get your stuff off mine’, etc. The list just goes on.
Usually I will type up things like this, then wait 10-30 minutes and see how i feel before I choose whether to post them. 3 hours later thought, and nothing’s changed. I don’t know what to do or how to feel or how to react. I feel emotionless.
