how do you feel about them deleting Xavier’s WU? I feel conflicted tbh cause it’s what we feared: the erasure of lore due to censorship, but also they could bring it back to get rid of the IRL references? it’s all messy
I'm going to be very honest with you, I have a very bad feeling about it.
Once you invite censorship in, there's no getting rid of it. It won't stop at Xavier's WU story. I'm not trying to scare you—this is just the reality of it.
Numerology is dead in LADS. They never should've used 731, but I also never expected it to cause this much of an issue. They will likely never use numbers as symbols ever again. Imagine there's some horrible accident related to 109. The N109 Zone just becomes the N Zone. Touchdown, I guess.
LADS has always included controversial tropes. Who's to say that the antis and media won't find more to go after? Rafayel has murdered people and stalked MC. Xavier has done the same, and he's over a hundred years older than her. Zayne has killed, and accidentally hurt MC as Dawnbreaker. Sylus basically kills for funsies, he tried to force MC into resonating with him, he kidnapped her, and he's basically a mafia boss. Caleb is her adoptive brother, killed their adoptive grandmother, kills a bunch of other people, drugs MC with cold medicine, and holds her hostage for a few days. I mean I could go on and on about all the dark aspects of LADS.
We've accepted all of this as part of the story. That doesn't mean that it will stay as part of the story. At this point, everything is in jeopardy if the antis find a reason to fight it.
But, let me offer a little bit of comfort. Xavier's WU story is easily replaced. Change the numbers and a little bit of the wording, and we're good. The Catch-22 outfits were edited to remove the numbers. These things are easily rectified. Infold simply has to tread carefully from here on out. I just worry that walking on eggshells will make the entire story seem shallow.
I want this to be a lesson to those who said the boycott wouldn't affect the other LIs. It was never just about Valko. Everyone is at stake. Every story, every card, every WU chapter—all of it. Censorship is no joke, so don't treat it like one.
