I haven’t had any time to play games so I’m experiencing re:requ/iem through videos and posts and it’s actually so crazy to me as a geriatric fan how many people don’t seem to know that the franchise’s top villains are built on the ideals of eugenics and genetic superiority and that was like, the crucial part of what the protags are fighting against.

Admittedly relieved to see multiple people point out that they enjoy seeing our npcs giving pushback, including for romances, because it’s something we all really wanted to do, despite it being the less practical choice both extra work-wise and potentially alienating people who might find their desired romance unavailable to their character.

But we really didn’t want to compromise on what we have in mind for each npc, where their wants and needs are concerned, and I’m glad that seems to be well received and something people are happy to see.

I know I function the best in saw trap conditions because I feel like absolute death at the best of times and then I go to the doctor and perform ‘higher than average’ on a physical stress test I’ve been dreading due to past health issues.

Getting adhd meds has genuinely been crazy. I started the dose that works for me like a week ago and I got more done in a week than I would have in months.

Media literacy hot take and I’m not sure some of you are ready for it:

if a fictional character is russian and lives during Russia’s military aggression against another country, and the work never addresses their thoughts or position on that war in any way, it automatically reinforces an already existing space where russians are not expected to reflect on the criminal actions of their state or their fellow citizens.

At the same time, it reassures russians — through foreign media — that the world also doesn’t see this as their problem.

If you believe that giving a fictional character a stance on their country’s military invasion "isn’t important", or that “there’s no reason to bring it up” because the story is just about their everyday life, then it’s hard to expect anything more responsible from real people.

“This is just a story about the struggles of an ordinary german dude during World War II — without touching on war or nazism, because he’s just a civilian and his personal life is already difficult” — i hope the analogy speaks for itself.

So please, don’t forget: while fictional films are being made about russians, documentaries are being made about the victims of their country.

@everythingscomingupdrew , I don’t usually address people personally, as I try to avoid causing discomfort or putting anyone in the spotlight, but I’m doing so here in good faith and for the sake of accuracy.

I won’t say anything more than simply listing the dates:

Georgia

2008 — Russia invades Georgia. Parts of Georgia are occupied (Abkhazia and South Ossetia), which Russia labels “independent states,” while its troops remain stationed there.

2025 — The conflict is frozen; the occupation continues.

Ukraine

2014 — Russia occupies and annexes Crimea. Abductions of activists, journalists, and openly anti-Russian individuals begin.

Spring 2014 — War begins in Donbas. Russia creates and controls the so-called “DNR/LNR.”

2014–2021 — Ongoing low-intensity war. Openly pro-Ukrainian people are abducted, tortured, and killed. The region is fully isolated from the rest of Ukraine: no Ukrainian news, no independent media, nothing. Ukrainian books are destroyed; Ukrainian schools are forced to teach only in Russian.

2022 — Russia launches a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

I really wish I knew how to articulate better that I think H/ades games are some of my fave gameplay-wise but also I get pretty chafed when they are lauded as progressive because they have a couple of Brown and Black designs and some queerness in it, when they have trad family values & the whole watered down and woobified retellings of Greek myths are insidious in their erasure of historic violence against women

Why does everyone think fiction is just fantasy wish fulfillment now and not like an exploration of themes and ideas

People will be like “this movie is evil and gross because it depicts a predatory relationship” and then you watch the movie in question and it’s about how preying on young women is bad and impacts their lives negatively
