OPHELIA
āHer clothes spread wide; And, mermaid-like, awhile they bore her up: Which time she chanted snatches of old tunes; As one incapable of her own distress, Or like a creature native and indued Unto that element: but long it could not be Till that her garments, heavy with their drink, Pullād the poor wretch from her melodious lay To muddy death.ā

Rad!
Terry Gross spoke withĀ New Yorker editor David Remnick and staff writer Evan Osnos about Putin, Trump, and the New Cold War. Hereās an excerpt from that interview about Trump using the phraseĀ āenemy of the people.āĀ
TERRY GROSS: Trump tweets a lot about the press. On February 17, he tweeted āthe fake news media, failing New York Times, NBC News, ABC, CBS, CNN, is not my enemy. It is the enemy of the American people.ā
DAVID REMNICK: Yeah, what a phrase, āthe enemy of the people.ā
GROSS: Yeah, I know. That goes back to Stalin, right?
REMNICK: Well, it goes back to Robespierre. It is an ugly, ugly phrase. I donāt know how self-aware Donald Trump is of that kind of phrase. I guarantee you Steve Bannon knows what enemy of the people means. Stalin used it to keep people terrified. If you were branded a āvrag naroda,ā an enemy of the people, you could guarantee that very soon there would be a knock in the middle of the night at your door and your fate would be horrific.
To hear that kind of language directed at the American press is an emergency. Itās an emergency. Itās not a political tactic. And if itās a political tactic, itās a horrific one. And that needs to be resisted not just by people like me who are, you know, editors or writers but all of us. This is part of what distinguishes American democracy. And itās untenable, immoral and anti-American.
On this day in music history: March 1, 1993 - āIf Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Canāt We?ā, the debut album by The Cranberries is released. Produced by Stephen Street, it is recorded at Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin, Ireland and Surrey Sound Studios in Leatherhead, Surrey, UK from Mid 1992 - Early 1993. Originally formed in 1989 as The Cranberry Saw Us by brothers Noel (guitar) and Mike Hogan (bass) with their friends Fergal Lawler (drums) and Niall Quinn (vocals), the first line up lasts barely a year before Quinn leaves the band. Advertising in a local newspaper for a new singer, the ad is answered by an aspiring eighteen year old singer named Dolores O'Riordan. Immediately impressed with her voice, O'Riordan is asked to join the band. Changing their name to The Cranberries, with the help of Xeric Studios owner Pearse Gilmore, the band record a three track demo EP. Titled āNothing Left At Allā it is released on cassette, selling a mere 300 copies. The band record a second demo which includes early versions of āLingerā and āDreamsā is sent out to various UK record labels. The demo attracts attention from the UK music press and label executives, touching off a bidding war. The Cranberries are signed to Island Records by legendary A&R man and producer Denny Cordell (Joe Cocker, The Move, Procol Harum, Leon Russell, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers) in 1992. After an abortive first start at recording their first album with their manager/producer Gilmore, he is fired and they start over again. They are then paired with producer Stephen Street, best known for his work with The Smiths and Blur. The Cranberries unique sound, combining Celtic influenced melodies with pop, modern rock and topped by Dolores O'Riordanās immediately distinctive voice, is not an immediate hit with the public. With āDreamsā being released as the first single in September of 1992, it nor the album itself when itās released six months later to minimal response. āLingerā is issued as the follow up, and it flops also. Itās only after touring as the opening act for Britpop band Suede that it gives The Cranberries the wide exposure they need. When their album is released in the US, it also gets off to a slow start with Island initially shipping only 18,000 copies. āLingerā (#8 Pop) is released a second time and takes off on modern rock, then mainstream pop radio. āDreamsā (#14 Pop Airplay, #42 Pop, #15 Modern Rock) is reissued also, helping propel the album to multi-platinum status and turning the shy young Irish band into unlikely pop stars. It is remastered and reissued in 2002 as āEverybody Else Is Doing It So Why Canāt We? (The Complete Sessions 1991-1993)ā, featuring five additional bonus tracks including remixes and non album B-sides. āIf Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Canāt We?ā peaks at number eighteen on the Billboard Top 200, and is certified 5x Platinum in the US by the RIAA.

The Trump team put out a survey a while ago about the mainstream media. Apparently they didnāt like the answers so they sent it out again but only to Trump supporters.
Hereās the link so you can let them know what you think about the mainstream media.

This is still the worst survey Iāve ever seen in my life, but fuck it up again. A surveyās not a survey if you only give it to people whoāll give you the answers you want to your leading questions. Also, this survey does require some personal information, but if itās like the last one, you can make up fake ones and itāll accept them. -V

Mum tum
If you have been pregnant; you have a mummy tummy. If youāve carried a child; you have a mummy tummy.
I grew a baby in my tummy, went through 16 hours of labour and then had emergency surgery.
A mum tummy is not a BAD thing. Itās something to be proud of. Pregnancy is hard, labour is hard, induction is hard, birth is hard, a c-section is hard, recovery is hard.
It doesnāt matter what the hell your mum tummy looks like; nothing takes away from the fact that you are a mother.
Your tummy may be covered in stretch marks, big, small, flat, round, you may have lose skin, or super tight skin. You may have awesome love handles; you may have magical curves. You may wish your tummy looked different and fondly remember the way your tummy looked before you became a mother.
Whatever your mum tummy looks like; whatever you feel about your magical body, try to feel proud because that mum tummy of yours is amazing and beautiful and has given you the greatest gift.
