“Oh! I can be called Sueter!” Aja suggested, then to Krel she added “Steve told me it means Slayer in spanish.”
Krel gave her a look, then frowned and said, very carefully, “Actually, sueter in spanish is sweater.”
“Mov-ee nights?”
“The moving pictures that humans are fond of. It’s fun. Sometimes Stella picks alien movies and keeps asking questions about if it’s real or not. It mostly is not.”
Aja smiled excitedly. “Oh, like the ones on the tele-vision Varvatos-” She froze then, a pang of hurt stabbing through her suddenly at the name. She winced, then went silent. “Right.”
“Are you sure there’s no way to bring him back? That he’s really gone?” Aja asked, silently holding out hope that since her universe was slightly different in that she was dating a girl instead of a boy, maybe Varvatos wouldn’t be gone ever in her world.
“We do not know..” She murmured softly, dropping her head. “He wasn’t in the ship, we know he isn’t… might not be… dead… but we have looked everywhere. We cannot find him. No traces…” She was beginning to cry again. Quickly she wiped the tears leaking from her eyes.
“Well, the warrior spirit means we fight in his honor knowing he may or may not fight by our side once more.”
Aja slowly nodded, but argued. “It still hurts… even after everything he has-” she stopped herself. She had specifically avoided telling her alternate about that. Instead, she shook her head. “He was a good mentor…”
“I don’t know how similar they are, but I know that my Varvatos would tell me not to mourn, but honor his memory by doing what is right.”
“At least he had a glorious death after all.” She managed a small laugh, though it almost turned into a sob.
“His wish was granted,” she said with a small chuckle. “He would be glad with that, at least.”
Aja nodded, then sighed with a shaky breath. "Either way, that doesn't matter. Not right now.."

Gunmar lets out a snarl of rage at what is sent down, throwing the food to the side. The other gumm-gumms examine it, before turning their attention away.
Only one of them seems interested in the non-meat offering, and she takes a cautious bite before perking up. She likes this.
“My lord, I suggest…delicacy.” Dictatious stated, “It’s highly likely that we’re speaking with humans, and a request for flesh might frighten them.”
“What else could I possibly want to eat?” Gunmar growled.
“We will ask for flesh, but we will use…softer words.”
A few moments later, a tug on the rope. And a note.
We need protein.
Aja brought up the book, then looked at the note.
She didn’t really know what protein was, since she really didn’t pay attention to classes like health, so instead she looked at Eli. “What’s protein?”
“Oh! We just went over this in health-class!” Eli bobbed excitedly, as he often did when he knew the answer to something. “Protein is a macronutrient! It’s what other nutrients are made of, you can find it in nuts and lentils, and pumpkin seeds, and meat!”
Again, Aja was not paying attention in healt, but she did spare a smile and a "Lively." In response to Eli's information.
A few weeks later, Aja was trying to make plenty of excuses of why she needed so much meat, but it was worth it, as she tried to engage the hole king into talking with her. Usually she tried to ask how they were, but today she was bored. Another sitting and waiting training day from Varvatos. No thank you.
So, as any reasonable teenager would do, she snuck off to talk to the hole king. So what is it you like to do? She wrote.

“Stella just wants to cuddle with my Akaridion form. She says twice the number of arms and the taller frame means there more to find comfort in.”
"Weird." Aja hummed with a head tilt. "Steve and I don't 'cuddle' but we have climbed a tree together! It was lively!'

Okay, after spending time being a human for most of the day for an entire school day, one had a certain appreciation for the irony of hands. So of course she lifted all four and with an amused smile she asked “Which ones?”
She laughed and moved her own four around. “It does feel nice….it feels like two of my hands are tied together in my human form.”
"I still don't understand how Krel doesn't mind!" Aja admitted, before putting her hands down again. "And not to mention that we're shorter."
