ok so this just hit me, bear with me. the sign of three centres around john and mary's wedding. or at least it's supposed to.

but it absolutely doesn't??

i mean think about it, whenever a major character within a tv series or even a movie gets married, the wedding gets a lot of emphasis/screen time. we see flashbacks of their relationship, key moments, favourite memories, the development of the characters' relationship in retrospect; basically a load of cheesy stuff regarding the couple getting married. we also hear a speech/exchanging of vows.

the sign of three does none of that. or well, it does but not for john and mary; rather for sherlock and john.

we don't see john expounding his love for mary, or mary for john. instead we see sherlock do that for john. in like an hour long speech. sociopath my ass. we see them being soft as fuck for each other on john's stag night. even in the days leading up to the wedding, it's all about sherlock and john, not john and mary.
