And there I was with my legs thrown up and my back to the wall doing nada and minding my business when.... OKAY, okay I'll finish it.
Needless to say it's been years or months, my sense of time has been destroyed. I'm actually surprised there are people still reading my fics. Seeing as I've rolled into an early retirment I'll come back out of it. THIS is for you cj024403.
So ya girl went ahead and got a demanding bank job, so my life consists of working 6 days a week during the day and coming home to crash.
I glance at my laptop and tell myself I gotta finish the fics then fall asleep. I'm a hot mess but the mess is going to do her best with these fics. Lawd help me.
Yes, I am going to finish all my fics. I've just been through a lot of trauma and been trying to cope with where I stand for a last few weeks. I was really excited to post updates but the shit hit the fan and I was a mess for a while. Im being juggled around with places to live but i'll get something posted.
As promised, here are some of the very first stories @richonnefics ever posted. We appreciate the readers and especially the writers. Thank you all so much for supporting us over the years. Our love for Richonne brought us together and will continue to sustain us as we embark on yet another journey with this couple.
I really need to catch up on reading and reviewing fics but my life wonât allow me to flourish. I rebel against my life so Iâll do it anyway.Â
I always say writing a fic is just as fun as reading it. When you're reading it you donât know whatâs coming next and thatâs the thrilling part about it. When you're writing you canât wait for someone to read it because reading their reactions and responses are the thrilling part. Even though all responses arenât good. Â
This gif is completely unrelated but I thought it was funny
It was the rough texture of Mikeâs tongue on my face that woke me from my morning slumber. Â It didnât bother me, in fact, I was more of a morning person. Â I stripped my clothes and headed for a quick shower. Â It was trash day. Â Sunday was trash day for everyone, but I made sure to get up early to avoid jamming my trash in an overflow of garbage. Slipping on black leggings and my bunny night shoes I fed Mike and tied my trash.
Garbage in hand I slipped out my door hoping to avoid Jessie. Â For some strange reason around this time, she did yoga on the lawn outside the gym. Â Maybe she just liked nature. Â I looked in the parking lot tugging my trash behind me. Â I noticed the black Porsche from yesterday parked beside my KIA. Â It wasnât the same one, I just decided to buy a newer version. Â I never cared for lavish cars. Â If we wanted to park under a shade Abe also had a 15 car garage.
âMichonne, baby!â Â A loud voice bellowed startling me. Â Jessie fell in the grass; I didnât even see her there.
âGood morning Negan.â Â He was a nice guy if you got past the fact that he was a man whore. Â He trotted in my direction also totting a bag of garbage.
He licked his lips smiling. Â âIâm glad I got to see your beautiful face this week.â Â Those dimples were tempting but I knew the truth behind them.
âMe too. Â How are your girlfriendâs?â Â I asked nicely. Â We walked pass Jessie who was shooting daggers at Negan.
His face turned sour. Â âDonât think I didnât notice the s dear. Iâm settling down now. Â The life I use to live doesnât quite suit me anymore. Donât you think?â
âRight,â Â I responded with a smile knowing everything that came out of his mouth was bullshit.
âA little birdie told me you have a new neighbor, I was thinking about moving next to you. Â Just to be a little closer. Â But no! Fucker snatched my spot.â Â Talk about laying it on thick. Â He raised the garbage lid to throw in our trash.
âIf it makes you feel any better. Â It looks like theyâre a couple.â Â He looked surprised as I told him.
âThat doesnât put me at ease sweetheartâŠâ  His gaze drifted to Jessie as she touched her toes with her hips angling in the air.  I rolled my eyes.  This man was a trip.
âIâm sure weâll talk later Negan.â Â I made my way back to my place and in the kitchen. Â I let the water run over my hands, the foam went down the drain. I opened my fridge and eyed the remainder of Carolâs cookies. Â Despite my terrible first impression of Lori, I really wanted to try. Â Who knows maybe Iâd even get a breakthrough with her. Â I grabbed the pan and headed next door.
I took a deep breath as the gold seven gleamed at me. Â I wasnât sure what made me feel a bit self-conscious. Â I pulled my locs into a ponytail but I felt my tank top riding up when I knocked on the door. Â I probably looked like a suck up already. Â Just to add a little flare I threw on a big smile before the door opened.
Lori looked confused until she clocked the pan of cookies in my hand. âSorry for the awkwardness yesterday. I brought some cookies, sort of a home warming gift.â Â Lori smiled at me awkwardly and relieved me of the pan. Â I told myself, I was doing this for new clothes and Mike. Â I peeped behind Lori into the living room. Â I frowned, it lacked the feminine touch. Strange since Lori wore exuberant colors, much like the red expensive dress she had on.
âI donât eat cookies. Â They make you fat.â Â She stared at me as if to prove a point. Â I couldâve sworn my palms twitched.
âOkay, if you donât like them can you give them back?â Â I held my hands out for the pan that never touched it. Â
âThatâs fine Iâm sure Rick will enjoy them.â  Her boyfriend no doubt.  I tried my best to hang onto my smile.  I noticed some movement behind Lori but she deliberately blocked my view when I tried to peek.  Okay, I get that she didnât want me looking at her man but I wanted to look at her man. Only to ease my budding curiosity. Carol never told me how he looked. Besides, I didnât want to have sex with him.  At this point, Iâm borderline asexual.
She gave me a tight-lipped smile when a deep voice caused her head to turn. âWhoâs at the door, Lori?â Â He had a southern accent to his voice. Â Mama always said a man with a deep southern voice was nothing but trouble. Â Abe didnât count, he was married.
Lori kept her mouth shut, slowly inching the door close. Â âWell, I guess Iâll see you later,â Â I shouted on purpose. Â Iâm sure in another life Lori and I could be friends, but in this one, she was a bitch. Â
âOh,â He said from inside. Â âRemind me to get groceries before I get back here.â Â He sounded a bit frustrated. Â I heard a slam of what I assumed to be the fridge door. Â
âWell, Iâm sure Iâll see you around uhhhâŠâ
âMichonne.â Â I supplied a little annoyed.
She chuckled dismissively. Â âOh, right. How could I forget that?â
I didnât bother waiting for her to shut the door in my face. Â I retreated to my apartment deciding to get Carolâs pan back tomorrow. Â Hopefully before either of them went to work. Â Mike was snuggling against the cushions on my couch, purring. Â I smiled sadly. Â I knew some days he was in pain but I was too selfish to let him go just yet. Â Maybe Carol was right. Â Maybe my toxic past with online shopping could be overlooked. Sighing in defeat I went in search for my laptop.
Four hours later I had numerous tabs open. Â All consisting of victoria secrete, Nike, Gucci and many more. Â My eyes were burning. Â With over two hundred items in total, I was about to call it quits but my mouse still hovered over the buy button. Â To buy or not to buy. Â It was a difficult choice to make, every time I ordered something it either never came or came too small. Â Every single time. Â
I sighed after hearing a knock on my door. Â Recently it seemed to be a common occurrence, knocking on doors. Â I dragged myself off the couch leaving Mike to tiredly scratch at the monitor.
I probably looked high by the time I answered the door. Â I knew for a fact my eyes resembled the hair of the burly man standing in front of me.
âHey, Abe.â Â Besides the numerous cameras on the property, high gates and security codes I felt safer knowing an ex-militant was living next door to me.
âFor an introvert, youâre a bit too friendly.â Â I was indeed a bit too friendly to the guy sporting a white wife beater and a big ass cigar. Â He continued âJust wanted to let you know weâre having a little gathering by the pool next week. Â Give you some time to gather your introverted wits.â Â I leaned against my door frame.
âIs this gathering a special occasion?â Â I asked curiously. Â The only gathering they did was once a month at a restaurant, as far as I knew.
âVery!â He boomed. Â âI thought you met your new neighbor already?â Â Everyone knew I always tried to suck up to the new neighbor.
âOh, I did.  They seemedâŠnice enough.â  It wasnât a complete lie.  Lori was a bitch but I guess the guy warranted the ânice enoughâ.
âThey? Â Anyway, Rickâs an old squadmate of mine, saved my ass more times than I can count.â Â Is there a way too feel doubly safer? Â He could bring more of his squad mates, Iâd offer a trade for Jessie any day.
I frowned, âWhy didnât you celebrate when I moved in? Â Let alone everyone else?â
âWhy are dingle berries brown?â Â I didnât even know what that meant. Â âLike I said heâs an old buddy of mine, we go way back. Â I thought you guys wouldâve hit it off,â The only thing that would hit it off was my palm against Loriâs face if she tried me again. âHe loves your work.â Â Wasnât that something special?
âYou didnât say who I was, did you?â
âYour secret is safe with me.â Â He tapped an arm against his chest then used two fingers to draw an invisible x.
âAm I required to wear a swimsuit? Â Because if I have to Iâm not going.â Â I didnât want to sound snobby or prudish. Â I was proud of my body and learned to embrace my weight along with the flaws but I didnât want Negan barking around me like a dog in heat. Â
âItâs optional and try to keep an eye out for squirrels around the gym. Jessieâs been complaining about them stealing her grapes while she did yoga.â Â She doesnât even do yoga in the gym, but Iâll keep my mouth shut.
After assuring Abe that iâd keep a look out for squirrels I went back to my laptop.
Monday was my elected day of work.  Iâd wake up at five and head to the gym. After that, the rest of the hours were devoted to working on my pieces.  Being my own boss had its perks.  Thankfully the gym was empty when I got there.  I hit the treadmill with my headphones deeply rooted in my ears.  My feet pounded against the machine and the world fell away.  Nothing but classical music filled ears, my breathing began to match the pitch of trumpets and the strum of the violin.  Twenty minutes passed and I began to slow down.  Grabbing a towel I wiped off the sweat draining down my brow.
I needed to get Carolâs pan back. Â That was always the awkward part of schmoozing, the first time was always weird. Theyâd answer the door looking at me weirdly until I asked for the dish. Â I did squats along with some crunches before I headed back upstairs.
Standing before my neighborâs door I silently hoped I didnât have to slap anyone. Â I hoped for a peaceful morning greeting without any hostility. Â I took a deep breath before hitting my knuckles against the door and I waited. Â And waited. Turning around I made sure the black Porsche was still next to my red KIA. Â And it was. Â Glowering at the door I knocked again, a bit harder than last time. Â Maybe they didnât get up this early, it was six in the morning after all. Â I had a regeneration smoothie to make so hopefully someone would get up and open the door soon.
I was about to knock again when the door swung open and I was met with a broad-shouldered man with the bluest eyes.  Carol was right, the bearded man from Saturday wasnât homeless, obviously. I just stood there silently taking him in.  I peered at the unruliness of his curls which ended at the nape of his neck.  His brown shirt clung to his figure, it was obvious he worked out.  I was never one for facial hair but his beard made me feel so hot.  Here I was standing before him with my mouth hanging open and the scent of sweat from my workout still clinging onto me.  I understood why Lori hid her man from me, Iâd do the same if he were mine too.
His eyebrows were tightly knitted no doubt wondering why a maniac like me was banging on his door. Â To the best of my ability, I gathered my wits remembering why I was knocking on his door at six am in the first place.
âUmm G-good morning.â Â Now I was a stuttering mess. Â Get it together Michonne! Â I went seven years without finding attractive men attractive. This one wasnât any different.
He had a small smile on his lips.  âGood morningâŠâ  I forgot he had a southern drawl.
âumm, I left my pan here yesterdayâŠI was wondering if I could get that back?â  He seemed amused by my frazzled state.
Running a hand through his curls in an effort to tame it he opened the door a little wider. Â âCome inside, Iâll get it for you.â Â He saw my hesitation. Â âIt wouldnât be very nice if I left you outside.â Â He explained. Â It was just something about him, just being around him. Â I couldnât trust myself, but there I was going inside this manâs condo.
I stared at his back but I couldnât help that my gaze went down to his ass encased in grey shorts. Â What do they call these shorts now? Â Dick shorts? Okay, I was positive I needed to lay off tumblr for a while. Â I found my way to his leather couch. Â Nothing really changed since peeking inside here yesterday. Â The walls were still white and bland. Â I appreciated the glass coffee table before me, it added a bit of color to the entire living room with one yellow stripe. Â Other than that everything just screamed bland bachelor pad. For someone that Abe said loved my work, I guess I expected a tad more color. Â I crossed my legs deciding to keep my hands to myself as I perched on the edge of his couch. Â The less of my sweat I got on his things, the better.
âCan I get you anything? Water, tea, coffee?â Â I looked over at the kitchen after hearing a clatter of dishes. Â He ducked behind the counter when he came back up Carolâs dish was in his hands.
âNo thanks, I actually have a smoothie to make.â Â
âOh, you were in the gym?â Â Though it was a question it was more of an observation. Â As if noticing my attire for the first time, I felt his eyes slide across my seated figure. Â It was unnerving how my skin prickled with awareness. Â At thirty, I was too old to be lusting after someone elseâs man.
He approached me, holding out Carolâs precious pan. Â âThank you for the cookies, I washed and dried the pan for you.â Grabbing the pan I held on for dear life. Â I felt completely surrounded by him. Â He was just so close to me. I huffed ignoring my thoughts. He stuffed his hands in the pockets of his shorts and of course, my eyes darted to the movement. Â Tumblr was onto something when they called it dick shorts, the name had a purpose. Â I gaped at the impressive tint currently pressing against the grey fabric. Maybe it was just the horny haze muddling my mind but I couldâve sworn it twitched toward me.
He coughed, drawing my attention to his face. Â He knew I was staring, hell I knew I was staring and it wasnât an accident. Even though he knew I was gaping at his crotch his face didnât give it away. Â His face still held a small friendly smile. Â This was out of character for me, I didnât go around blatantly staring at menâs crotches. Â I needed to get out of here.
âIâm really sorry about banging on your door this early. Â I didnât think about you still being asleep and all.â Â I cringed inwardly. Â Of course, he was still sleeping, when he answered the door he looked as if he just tumbled out of bed. Â I retreated to the door. Â I wanted to run for the exit but I wanted to seem more civilized.
Waving off my apology he opened the door for me.  âDonât worry about that.  I needed that wake-up.  Hopefully, Iâll see you aroundâŠâ  He trailed off waiting for me to fill in the blank.
âMichonne.â Â I supplied taking a step outside.
âMichonneâŠâ  He repeated, testing the word.  As it spilled from his lips I started to wonder why I never invested in a vibrator. âI like it, itâs unique.â  He studied me but he was frowning now.  âIâm Rick Grimes.â Â
âI knew that already.â
He chuckled looking slightly embarrassed. Â âOf course you do. Â Lori mustâve told you. Â Iâll be right here if you need anything.â Â Well, I needed panties, bras, shirts, dresses, sandals and the list can go on but Iâm sure he didnât mean that.
âSame to you Rick.â Â My fist lightly tapped his shoulder, it was a dorky move but I was graced with a wide smile. Â But when he licked his lips I averted my eyes. Â I stared at the spot above his head when I said my farewells and left.
About a year ago I started writing this fic I was pretty tipsy (maybe even drunk). I remember laughing my head off like I was funny lol.
Please don't take this seriously, I mixed my drinks that night I was a mess the next day.
Feel free to call this drabble what you want. In the meantime, Iâll be updating all the fics this week. (yes all)
power to fanfic writers, may the new year grant you creativity, no writer's block, and clear skin.
I never understood why the landlord never warned me whenever we had a new tenant. Â Specifically when thereâs a vacancy next to me. Â It shouldnât be hard, the guy lived two doors down from me. Â Though I wasnât going to say anything to that big burly man.
Three. Â Three people in the last 5 months went through this apartment. Â And of course being the nice genuine person I am Iâd give them a welcoming pan of cake or cookies. Â Iâd also befriend them, despite my loner tendencies. It never hurts to have someone watch after your cat when you go on a shopping trip.
No thanks to Abe, also known as the landlord. Â I found out we were getting a new tenant from Carol. Â My other neighbor. Â Honestly, I understood why those girls moved out. Â One, these condos were expensive. Â Two, shopping sprees daddies money didnât fully cover were more important than rent. Â Three, everyone living here was either, doctors, lawyers or some other hotshot. Â So holding a conversation without sounding like an idiot was damn near impossible. Â Unless of course, you were talking to an actor or my downstairs neighbor, Jessie. Â Bless her heart. Â I canât count how much celebrityâs Iâve met just walking to the dumpster. Â Just taking out some trash the other day and hey would you look at that, Nicholas Cage. Â Well, most of them were old time celebs but they were still famous, right?
As I was saying, right when I got to know these girls well enough. Â They went and left me. Â Iâd ask Carol to watch Mike but sheâs allergic to cats. Â Morgan was always busy with his son. Glenn and Maggie, well they wouldnât even bother feeding him. Â Iâm pretty sure Daryl would just throw him in the trash. Â Negan would watch him, but of course, that came with a sizable price and Jessie? Â Iâm positive sheâd kill him by accident. Â Sasha watched him before but now sheâs always missing since she became chief of staff at the hospital. Â Abe would just have him testing landmines in the desert during my absence.
I stared down at my furless cat. Â His big brown doe eyes called to me. Â Yes, he was ugly. Â Everyone made sure to tell me this. Â But I loved him. Â Heâs my little muse. Â But a girl needed new underwear, shoes, and blouses. Â I donât know how I managed to survive this long, I havenât gone shopping in a year. Â A whole year. Â And if that meant sucking up to whoever was moving boxes of their shit into condo 7 then so be it.
It wasnât long before Mike started mewling for his morning breakfast. Â His stretchy skin rubbed against my bare legs. Â His meows only seemed to get louder.
âDonât worry Mike, mommaâs going to get your kibbles. Â You want kibbles donât ya?â Â He meowed in response. Â I was positive on some level Mike understood me. Â Heâs been with me for eight years now. Â Through thick and thin he stuck by my side. He was two when I lost my job at Atlantaâs art gallery. Â I decided to take a leap of faith, the money I made from the paintings sold over the years was meeting its end. Â Mike and I were barely surviving, with my last bit of funds I made a tedious treacherous journey down to LA in my small KIA. Â It wasnât long before I lost hope. Â Selling paintings on the roadside didnât pay the bill for that trash motel we stayed at. Â Eventually, I took a job waiting at a restaurant. Â It was a sight to behold, I earned my degree in the Arts yet I was waiting tables for the hillbillies, hippies and con artist of LA.
But I didnât give up. Â After getting the green light to display my paintings in front of the diner I worked for. Â Things started to look better for me. Â I sold a few pieces, enough for me to relocate to a different motel. Â One that was more inhabitable. Â Dale never asked for compensation if I sold an art piece. Â He was a genuine man that wanted the best for me, along with a few of the other waitresses that were trying to get through school. Â So when he told me about an inquiry on my pieces from a man in a not so modest suite I knew he wasnât lying.
One can say Iâve made a name for myself, six years later I supplied work for some of the biggest Galleries in the city. Â And a year since I had a stable neighbor in Condo 7 after Noah died. Â He was a young up and coming actor with a boisterous personality and a genuine smile. Â After dying in a head-on collision we all mourned his death.
Pulling open one of my cupboard, I grabbed the bag of overly expensive catnip along with Mikeâs bowl. Â He nudges my leg urging me to hurry and serve his food. Â I loved him to death but his attitude needed an adjustment.
Pouring food into his bowl and I watched as he made a dash for it. Â It evoked a chuckle from me. Â We were living well. Â I admit we gained weight, his pudgy stomach touched the wooden panels of the kitchen floor and those five-star dishes went straight to my hips. Â It was Saturday, which meant I was due a visit from Carol shortly. Â Yes, Mike gave her allergies but it never stopped her from urging me out of my shell. Â Art has always been my safe haven. Â A man-made solace of the sort. Â Iâve never been one for an abundance of company, which is why, as my work became more popular I sold anonymously. Â My first name, Michonne, was still attached to everything Iâve painted but no one actually knew how I looked or my gender. Â Unless you count the assholes back in Atlanta, but I havenât heard any news of them releasing images of my face. Â After all, Michonne wasnât a common name. Â Along with my longtime neighbors and the folks who bought my work in the early stages of my career my secret was safe.
As if on cue, Carolâs signature knock sounded against the door. Â I rolled my eyes at the clock hanging over my stove. Â Nine oâclock sharp as always.
I took my time answering the door, we always had the same conversation. Like clockwork, so I wasnât in a rush. Â Releasing my locks and turning the doorknob I was greeted by a smiling face equipped with a pan of chocolate cookies. Â My mouth was watering, my weakness. Â I returned her smile and relieved her of the pastries.
âThat thing hasnât sat on the couch yet as he?â Â She asked a bit weary. Â For Carolâs sake and peace of mind, I was sure to spray the couch and keep Mike away from her designated spot. Â I waved her off removing the plastic covering her pastries.
âBy thing I assume you mean Mike.â
âOh yes, him.â Â I could hear the humor in her voice. Â I shook my head and started the coffee maker in the kitchen.
âI thought youâd want to reserve some treats to sway our new neighbor with.â Â Oh shit, I almost forgot about them. Â This was my secret, I gave them baked goods, that Carol herself baked. Â Normally sheâd bring in anything left over from her bakery. Â But this was different, these were chocolate cookies.
âTheyâre not even moved in yet.â Â I mentioned from the kitchen.
âOh sweetie, where have you been for the past seven hours?â Â I was sleeping no doubt. Â âLast I check they were just moving the last of their furniture.â Â Carol was a dear, out of all my neighbors, we exchanged the most words. Â Iâll even go as far as to say sheâs my closest friend.
âI donât need to schmooze the new neighbors this early, itâs only nine oâclock. Â Iâll let them settle in first.â Â After the coffee maker screamed in wake of its completion I grabbed two mugs. Â Mine and Carolâs permanent Saturday morning mugs. Â I know. Â She literally bought a mug for my place that she uses. Â I poured us coffee adding sugar. Â I walked in the living area balancing our coffee and a plate of cookies.
Uncrossing her legs she took her mug from my hand and watched as I sat down. Â I took a careful sip of my coffee, it was hot and the scent from the beans was strong as I inhaled, just how I liked it.
âYou wouldnât have to schmooze them if youâd just buy your clothes online. Â This is the 21st century after all.â Â She is 40. Â Exactly ten years my senior, so her words were more than ironic. Â It made me feel decades old.
âCarol weâve been through this too many times. Â I prefer to buy items that are my size exactly.â Â I wasnât lying when I mentioned that Mike and I gained weight. Â Living the good life put me up a cup size and made jeans stop to my thighs when I squeezed into them. Â It wasnât as if I wasnât working out. Â There was a gym downstairs I utilized constantly, but once my hips and breast got bigger they decided to stay that way, despite all my effort and time. Â âSo I buy them in the flesh.â
She just waved me off. Â âYou donât need to take a flight to buy clothes, Michonne.â Â She was right, but it was one of the perks hard earned money bought you. Â I clucked my tongue to the roof of my mouth deciding to change the topic of conversation.
âSo how is Ezekiel doing?â Â And just like that her blue eyes glazed over. Â For as long as I knew Carol, theyâve been together. Â I even gave him a few pointers on how to grow his locs. Â I was glad they stuck together so I could watch his locs flourish past his shoulders. Â I was also elated for Carol. Â Ezekiel was a B list actor, one of my favorite actors since he played Victor on âThe Last Knightsâ. Â It was among many of my TV favorites. Â Technically they lived together, but during filming season he had to go to a different state but they kept in touch. Â As to why theyâve been together for years without getting married was beyond me.
âHeâs doing just fine.â Â Her cheeks were tainted pink. Â She still swooned over him like a lovesick teen. Â I smiled at her. Â âInstead of diverting to the man in my life letâs talk about your love life.â Â She sported a devilish smirk behind her gray flower mug.
Somehow I fought the urge to roll my eyes. Â I knew I was attractive, in fact, most of the men I met found me alluring. Â But since no one ever saw me with a man publically they assumed I was a lesbian. Â Obviously, since I didnât want the hassle and stress of a relationship I welcomed the notion. Â Even Carol seemed on the fence about my sexuality.
âItâs nonexistent. I donât get out much to meet anyone, hence another reason I need this shopping trip.â Â I told her taking big bites out of the cookie.
âIf youâd just go out with me and the others that would change.â Â Yes, the monthly ritual they established. Â Once a month everyone would get dressed and have dinner usually followed by the night ending at a posh club. Â On more than one occasion Negan asked me to come. Â He was handsome. Iâd go as far to say he was sexy, with dimpled cheeks, a wide smile and a nice head of hair. Â But my goodness was he a player. Â My guess is that he was juggling about 5 different women right now. Â Most lawyers Iâve met had multiple women. Â Of course, that didnât stop him from wanting me.
âIâm not one for outings with packed crowds,â Â I mentioned.
Carol shook her head. Â âI have a feeling your life will change, Michonne. Â And soon too.â
âAre you hanging out with Gabriel again? Â My life changed six years ago. Â And for the better too.â Â Gabriel was a pastor and Morganâs brother. Â He always stopped by to use our gym and Abe allowed it. Â He was even gifted with an ID for the front gate last Christmas. Â At this point, it wouldnât be surprising if he moved into Morganâs Condo.
As much as I complained about needing personal space, I loved everyone living here, in my own way. Â Jessie was questionable. Â I knew more about everyoneâs personal life than they knew of mine. Â On occasions, Iâd even give them advice and water their plants when Iâm not working. Â I even parked bikes courtesy of Daryl Dixon. Â After Morganâs nasty divorce I held down the fort and watched his son, Dwayne, when he was on call at the Hospital.
Of course, I was happy to do it. Â Daleâs good deeds rubbed off on me. Â Because of that, theyâd help me in return. Â It wasnât that no one wanted to watch Mike, they were eager to. Â But I couldnât trust them to care for him, especially since they didnât have the advantage of living next door to me. Â Where I held all of his emergency medicine. Â He had cancer, which explained why he was bald. Â Call me picky. Â I just prefer the person next to my condo to watch him if need be.
A loud horn blared from outside. Â My eyebrows furrowed silently questioning Carol. Â She shrugged and moved toward the window, I simply followed suit. Â There we were mugs still in hand peering through the open creases of my wooden blinds. Â I squinted trying to make out the face of a brunette.
âThat must be her,â Â Carol whispered. Â âWait I see a man in the car...â Â She paused. Â âHe looks homeless.â Â I scowled in confusion. Â Abe always did background checks. Â He didnât have connections to the military for nothing. Â I didnât blame him for wanting to make sure people were able to pay their rent. Â Abe also offered a deal to share land, once youâve paid a suitable size of money you were able to live in your condo without monthly rent. Â It was a choice heâd offer and it was cheaper in the long run. Â Of course, household bills still had to be paid. Â Some people like Daryl and Carol chose that from the start.
âWhy are you whispering, itâs not like theyâll hear us through the window.â
âItâs more polite.â
âLike the action of peeping can be softened with whispering.â Â We both laughed before Carol shushed me. Â I caught a glimpse of the man, he was still inside the sleek black Porsche. Â He had quite the beard on him. Â He also wore a ratty baseball cap which probably caused him to be called homeless. Â It hid his face well so I couldnât make out his features. Â The brunette went back to the window leaning in close to the bearded man. Â âOh looks like theyâre a couple.â
âWhat do you think they do?â Â I asked Carol still staring at the couple, mug in hand. Â I had no shame.
âI have no idea. Â But Iâm guessing the womanâs a model. Â Though Abraham didnât mention there would be two of them.â Â She did look like a model. Â Her silky hair reached past her shoulders, leading down to a trim tight body. Â Hopefully, she wasnât another Jessie. Â Jessie did something to deserve my spite, she may not remember but I do. Oh, I remember very well.
The last person to move in was, in fact, Jessie Anderson, so in our defense, we did the same thing to Jessie when she moved in four years ago. Â Along with the three women who moved in over the last few months, if they counted. Â When Jessie modeled her way to her condo but couldnât figure out how to open her own door. Bless her soul. We figured she had a sugar daddy or was a model. Â We were right on both counts.
âOh goodness, we canât have another Jessie.â Â Even Carol understood. Â After a moment the woman pulled away from the car and it drove off. Â She was heading this way. Shit!
We tried our best to scramble away from the window without spilling the remnants of our coffee. Â I switched on my TV opting to settle on a random station.
âYou think she saw us?â Â She asked me.
âWeâre inside unless she has a third all seen eye thatâs impossible,â Â I told her taking in gulps of caffeine. Â I was quite sure we were in the clear so when a knock bounced off my door it caught me off guard. Â I spilled coffee on my capris night pants. Â A frustrated moan left my throat, these stains were hard to get rid of. Â I was forced to answer the door with a stain the size of a black hole on my white pants. Â I still had my locs gathered on top of my head, I decided against letting it down.
The door swung open and I was greeted by another smiling face for the second time this morning. Â It was the brunette. Â Up close she was actually quite stunning.
âOh, Iâm sorry I was actually looking for the landlord. Â Iâm Lori by the way.ââ Â She stuck her hand out towards mine her nails gleamed with a clear coat of peach polish. Â I took her hand after a moment of silence.
âMichonne.â Â She was nice.
Her eyes lit up upon hearing my name. Â âYouâre not Michonne the painter are you?â Â Her tone held curiosity.
âUmm, no. Â Iâm not.â Â Although she seemed nice I didnât know her. Â If the painting on my living room wall wasnât any indication of who I was then she really didnât need to know.
She rolled her eyes and dropped my hand.  âOf course, sheâd have enough money for betterâŠuhh apparel maybe even a house.â  Bitch! Her eyes darted to the stain on my pants. I wanted to scream âbut bitch youâre living here too!â I held my tongue.  âHow silly of me.â
âIt was an honest mistake.â Â I had to suck up to this bitch? Â I think not. Â Funny how first impressions left a lasting mark. Â Iâll mourn the loss of new undergarments later. Â My only hope was that her boyfriend was nicer since her ring finger was bare.
Lori nodded lacing her hands together. Â âLike I said earlier, I was looking for the landlord.â Â Her tone was short all of a sudden like she didnât want to stay by this door a minute longer. Â I pointed to the left.
âHeâs two doors down. Â But if I were you I wouldnât bother him this early on Saturdayâs. Â If Sasha answers youâll be in luck.â Â Abe didnât have a knack for Saturday mornings, any time after eleven was better for him. Â I learned the hard way after the pipe in my bathroom burst. Â I ran to Abe banging on his door. Â By the time he answered, he was red-faced and shirtless. Â He fixed my plumbing problem but I was left with feeling that I interrupted something. Â He didnât speak to me for a week.
Lori thanked me, clearly ignoring my warning and made her way to Abeâs door. Â I placed the locks back to their original position and turned to face Carol.
âWell isnât she a dime.â Â Carol mentioned sarcastically. Â A dime indeed. Â I rubbed the stain on my pants although it didnât do anything to fade it.
âNow Iâm hoping she does catch Abe at a bad time.â
âJust take my advice Michonne, order clothes and have it delivered here. Â Itâs what I always do.â Â We were back to that conversation again. Â We passed the time sitting together discussing neighborhood changes, our TV shows and of course neighborly gossip.
âHave you noticed that Maggie gained some weight?â Â Only Carol would notice these small things.
âSo? Iâve gained weight.â
Carol shook her head, exasperated with my line of thinking. Â âMichonne, you werenât having sex nonstop for the past two months.â Â I was a tiny bit offended. Â In fact I hadnât had any sexual exploits since leaving Atlanta. Â That was years ago.
âHow would you know this? Â You donât even live next to them to hear anything.â Â She scoffed at me.
âIâve seen enough displays of affection between them to light up a cow.â Â Maggie and Glenn had been married when I met them. Â They actually gave me hope that there was a forever. Â They always said theyâd wait to have kids, both being in the drug research field. Â They wanted to focus on their careers before adding a little addition to the family.
âSo you think sheâs pregnant?â Â I bit into my cookie.
âI know.â Â Her eyes twinkled.
The infamous horn made its appearance again, prompting Carol and I back into peeping. Â Lori had a scowl on her face as she made her way to the sleek car.
âYou think Abraham made her angry?â Â I questioned though I could care less.
âOh, Iâm sure they exchanged some words. Â Or her boyfriend said something to upset her.â Â She added when the heavily tinted window on the Porsche didnât roll down. Â Carol was onto something there. Â Lori marched to the vehicle and tapped the glass. Â The door to the car opened revealing a strong arm that held it. Â Lori stepped in the open space successfully blocking our view. Â The suspense was killing me.
âI need to get a good look at the man, can she just move.â Â I felt the same way as Carol. Â This Saturday was more entertaining than just chatting about the mystery around Daryl. Â Except there wasnât a mystery surrounding him, he was just a mechanic that owned a bike store. Â The vibe he had was mysterious though.
Lori moved and he was just about to exit the car when my landline rung off. Â What are the chances? Â I huffed and told Carol to give me a play by play. Â I dashed for the phone, promising myself to invest in something cordless.
Caller ID: Simon
I groaned knowing exactly what this call was about. Â I clicked call and greeted him sweetly. Â âGood morning, Simon. Â How are you?â
âSomething tells me youâre not working on your piece since you answered this phone so quickly.â Â He knew me so well. Â Simon was the one who picked up my art and delivered them to galleries amongst other people. Â Technically he worked for me. Â It was rare for me to do my work on site. Â That usually required complete discretion and a sizable check.
Carol waved her arms around drawing in my attention. Â âGood lord Michonne, he isnât homeless!â
I tried to split my attention between both Carol and Simon but it didnât work for me. Â So I focused on Simon.
âWhen creativity hits me Iâll be sure to text you, Simon.â Â Whenever I lost momentum Simon always reminded me that I was working on a time frame.
âBe sure to. Â I forgot to mention the last time I made a pick up some guy name Gregory phoned me. Â He seemed adamant on talking to you. Â Said it was urgent. Â He sounded crazy so I shrugged it off.â Â The only Gregory that rung any alarms was the âAtlanta Galleryâ owner who fired me with little to no remorse. Â Last I heard business for him went down the drain.
âThanks, Simon, if he calls you again let me know.â
âSure thing.â Â I hung up and made my way back to Carol who was no longer peeping out the window. Â Disappointment filled me.
âI thought you were going to give me a play by play. Â Did they leave?â Â I checked outside the window again noticing the black car was absent. Â Just my luck.
âI did but you were in the deep end of your conversation on the phone.â Â She gazed at me expectantly.
Sighing I told her âSimon was just talking about my old boss calling him, said he sounded crazy.â
âSimon himself looks crazy.â
âIn an artistic way Carol.â Â I defended him.
The thoughts in her head were clear on her face. Â It didnât make any difference what I said. Â Anyone with messy hair and an array of paint covering them looked crazy unless it was me of course.
Mike made his grand entrance, he waltzes in and rubbed himself against my leg. Â Carol coughed beside me putting space between us.
âThatâs my cue to leave, be sure to leave some cookies for the new neighbors.â Â It wasnât as if I was going to devour the entire pan of cookies. After closing the door behind Carol I pulled my silk night top tighter around my body.
My place was vibrant due to some of my work being hung on its white walls. Â When I first moved in I wanted something modern. Â I also wanted parts to remain a canvas for my doings. Â I actually came across this place by accident. Â It had security and it was discreet. Â There was a twenty-minute drive before you came across another building. Â In total there were nine occupants in the building. Â Morgan, Daryl, Jessie, Glenn, and Maggie along with Negan lived on the lower level. Â Abe and Sasha, Carol, myself along with the new couple lived on the second floor. Â Despite the number of occupants, my place was a spacious two bedroom two bath. Â I used the extra room for my work. Â I was still on edge about moving in here permanently, Atlanta taught me nothing good last forever. Â Sighing, I turned on my speakers and headed for my safe haven. Â I worked until nightfall.

Michonneâs learning to step out of her comfort zone. After a night drinks she sends a risky message to her best friend. With a light head and a mix up of two single digits. Did she send it to her best friends brother? or did she send it to the right number?
Yes it was! Thank you so much, I canât tell you how long I was looking for this and I was no where near being correct in the title. I love the back story to this with Rickâs dad and his consorting with underworld figures and how Michonne and RIck are trying to work through âstuffâ also the fact that Shane is still around be didnât do the deed with Lori, that honour going to the despicable Negan, love this take on how they knew each other, even briefly when they were younger.
