For a while, she simply reveled in clutching the smaller, real girl’s form. Maybe even snuggled into it just to reaffirm that she was once again in physical contact with her best friend. Her hold did, however, loosen, so that she could lean back and look upon her with her pair of mechanical, verdigris orbs. A sight for new, yet metaphorically sore eyes. Ruby didn’t change much aside from, well…there was a certain altercation, like the childish spark she once held was…gone.
Hearing that things were predominantly good, albeit concerning with the additional ‘almost’ punctuating the first part of Ruby’s explanation. The ‘but’ was no more comforting. Her expression became gradually less cheerful upon hearing of all this misfortune, but…but soon enough, her optimistic mind twisted it, sought the opportunity presented to her by the young huntress’s current intentions.
“I have been wonderful! For the most part, anyhow.
Being transferred to a new form and whatnot is quite disorienting!
But, my status aside…”
Her usual, enthusiastic look made a fortunate reappearance.
“If you are searching for Weiss, I will gladly offer my help!”
The mood drop that Ruby had experienced seemed to be alleviated slightly upon finding that her new friend had been doing well, and then diminished completely when assistance was offered. All things considered, it wasn’t too hard to get her back to her usual energetic self. Even if it was more... temporary and easy to get rid of than it used to be. Being forced to grow up all too quick would do nothing to make her any less herself, after all.
“Oh, man, Penny, that would be amazing! I’m sure you know this city better than I do... I’ve gotten lost wayyyyy too many times for one day.”
It was immeasurably good that the android was still optimistic and cheerful. Even Nora’s usual demeanor had taken a slight dip, and Ruby had been through enough change to last her the next thirty or so years. (She wasn’t an idiot, of course, she knew the changes weren’t over, but it was good enough for the moment to have one static thing).
“For now, though... I think it would be pretty nice to just hang out with you for a little while! Y’know, as long as Ironwood’s soldiers aren’t gonna come looking for you.”
