The First Kiss From My Last Love ⊰Seunghyun ▪ Hyungwon⊱
wait for me, the professor had said, and, like always, hyungwon hung to his every word; took them as a golden rule and treasured them dearly. often, he would lay awake at night and imagine, fantasise about how their possible future encounters could go. what he could say and do and how to present himself to make sure that the vampire remained charmed and interested.
each time they talked, hyungwon started opening up more and with every twitch of seunghyun’s lips and every deep and rumbled word, the boy felt his heart expand a bit more. it hurt. it was almost unbearably painful to wait and to take his time and not simply drop to his knees at the first given chance to earn what he believed to be love the easy way. before each meeting with the professor, hyungwon had worried.
interests were such fickle things. they could change drastically and suddenly and seunghyun had always reminded hyungwon of a storm.
when the day finally arrived it almost seemed like a dream. hyungwon had felt dazed and lost and on edge the whole day, barely managing to stomach his food and soak in the bath before he was supposed to get ready. clothes were changed into and out of multiple times, his hair styles and ruffled before the boy ended up sitting at the bottom of his spacious closet and sulking. the professor would most likely wear a suit and look as impeccable as always, but what could he put on that would even come close to comparing?
a few expensive pieces of clothing later, the boy pulled dark suspenders over a crispy, white button down and grinned at himself in the mirror. his hair looked pleasantly fluffy and incredibly soft and he secretly hoped the professor would think as much and reach out to touch it. touch him, too, ideally.
by then it had become obvious that seunghyun was a perfect gentleman and avoided any touches that could have been regarded as even close to inappropriate and while it was refreshing not to be reduced to just his looks, hyungwon had grown hungry for the man’s warmth and proximity.
the clock announced seunghyun’s arrival before the brief rapping of knuckles against his door did, but that didn’t mean that hyungwon didn’t jump both times, staring at said door like a wild rabbit that was prepared to run for it’s life, when there was no danger anywhere in sight. still, his bottom lip was being gnawed and worried on as hyungwon approached the door and cautiously turned the handle.
what he found on the other side, was what he expected. seunghyun looked ready to make his heart explode and the way those intense eyes travelled along his body made his cheeks feel aflame in the best way possible. was he smiling? probably, but it wasn’t like he had any control over it at this point. just when he had been about to open his mouth and ask where they would be going, seunghyun knelt down and hyungwon’s mind went straight to the gutter. ravishing, he had said—
❮ we shouldn’t- ❯ not that hyungwon minded doing something in the hallway, he would have liked it actually; but it wasn’t like any of the things he had been fantasising about happened. of course, the big gentleman wouldn’t have touched him appropriately, but only reached to take off his shoes and albeit confused, hyungwon allowed it to happen.
❮ you’re dressed so well but we won’t need shoes? where are we going? ❯ hyungwon asked, knowing fully well that seunghyun probably wouldn’t tell him. the boy took the offered arm anyway and linked his own with seunghyun’s.
❮ you look dashing, by the way, ❯ he added, cheeks still a deep pink and expression having reverted back to the shyness he often felt around the older male, the compliment itself spoken so softly that someone without superior sense of hearing could have missed it, ❮ like always. ❯ the last two words were added in an even softer whisper, accompanied by a nervous giggle that made him hate himself and tighten his hold on seunghyun’s arm at the same time.
he would have to try really hard not to embarrass himself, hyungwon thought as they left the castle and a fresh breeze ruffled up his carefully styled hair. it seemed impossible.
Spending time with Hyungwon was something Seunghyun had grown to relish over the past few months. The boy was intoxicating. The way he looked, the way he smelled, the sound of his voice...he’d quickly become an addiction to the guarded professor. He’d been waiting for the boy’s infatuation to fade, hoping it wouldn’t, but fearing it would. It hadn’t yet and now that they’d both put in the appropriate amount of effort to get through the waiting period that ended with Hyungwon’s graduation, he could do his best to make sure the feelings would only grow from here.
There was an art to loving and Seunghyun personally felt that he excelled in that area. He’d had enough practice over the centuries, but he’d always had an innate talent for finding and cherishing mortal and immortal souls that he valued in one way or another. Whether it be business, friendship or lovers, if Seunghyun cared for you, you would know it. While his gestures could at times be grandiose, they were always genuine and sincere. Some felt love was something owed to them, something that would happen even if they had to wait for it.
Seunghyun knew this was not the case. Love had to be earned, it had to be nurtured, it had to be fought for. Planted like a seed, tended to and cared for while it developed and evolved. He’d devoted years of his life to the happiness of others, carefully guiding, rewarding, consoling; giving. No effort was spared and certainly would not be in Hyungwon’s case. Seunghyun saw the potential in him for great things and what he hoped would be an eternal love.
His smile warmed as the giddy young man took his arm and followed along with him. Hyungwon trusted him completely. He’d given him that control the very first time they’d met and Seunghyun had no intention of making him regret that decision. It was their first date and shoes or none, Hyungwon seemed unquestionably happy just to be at his side. He led him through the school along stone walkways that made even his soles numb with cold, yet, the vampire was fairly certain due to Hyungwon’s racing heart and flushed cheeks that he might not have noticed any discomfort.
Outside the school gates, Seunghyun turned his head to glance at Hyungwon as he slowed his pace. The taller man stopped and gently placed both hands on Hyungwon’s shoulders as he faced him. He took great care as he led him and as he touched him now, slowly drawing him into an embrace. Hyungwon was a treasure and he was treating him as such. Time and space snatched their bodies from the ground and Seunghyun’s hold tightened on the boy that he already considered his own. The journey took but a moment yet it was immediately obvious when they stopped that they had traveled quite a long distance.
Sea air filled their lungs and the warm light of the setting sun washed over their bodies. It was much warmer where they’d traveled and similarly accented voices to Seunghyun’s met their ears with the crashing of waves. Seunghyun took a deep breath into his lungs and exhaled deeply as his toes sank into the warm sand underfoot. It had been far too long since he’d come home. He slowly opened his eyes and immediately those intense orbs searched Hyungwon’s face for any sign of nausea after their trip. “Do you know where we are?” he asked with a smile.
“We’re home,” he answered, turning away from Hyungwon and gesturing with his arm to the gorgeous coast that surrounded them. The beach where they’d arrived was private yet moderately populated with sunbathers and couples that strolled in and out of the softly crashing waves. While none of them seemed alarmed that the two had suddenly appeared before their eyes, they did seem quite interested in who had arrived. Gradually, the realization that Seunghyun had appeared before them drifted across the beach and as he took Hyungwon’s arm again and led him along the water’s edge every single person they passed stopped to bow to them as if they were royalty.
