Video for fourth attempt
Here you can actually see everything much more clearly! You can clearly see the screen inside and the projection on the wall is pretty good. The smaller screen at the front makes the light squeeze through, causing it to focus better :)

Video for the third attempt
As part of our third attempt we moved the projector back more and could barely see anything, not surprising since the iPhone’s screen is so small. We did cut out a smaller piece to stick in front of the magnifying lens to play with aperture so we’re going to play with that next.

Final Conclusion!
With under $3 we were able to create a great projector for any iPhone or Smartphone! All you need is a magnifying sheet, tape, glue sticks (if you want to be fancy) a knife or scissors, boxes, and an phone to make this work!
Tips and Tricks!
Just make sure that the phone is upside down.
Make sure that you lock rotation so the image stays upside down.
Check that the screen is on full brightness for a better effect!
Fourth attempt!
We used the smaller piece that was cut out and put it on the magnifying sheet in attempt to make the aperture smaller, which worked pretty well!
Surprisingly it looks better in real life since the Nikon camera kept trying to focus on the girl in the video’s face while it was dark. We were surprised that it looked better and that it was also much bigger so we could watching on a bigger canvas!
Big box attempt 1 (and final attempt)
It went perfectly, right?
Since using a small box was successful we decided to try the big box! Unfortunately it barely worked, but that’s because the phone was way too small and could not get close enough to the magnifying screen. If you were to use a tablet or laptop, the bigger box would definitely work better!

This time we put the phone in upside down, which worked! Only problem? The elastic band snows up very clearly in the projection.

We put the iPhone in right side up and kept it secured with an elastic band. What we weren’t expecting was that the reflection would show up upside down!

The Building Process:
We found a few boxes and began our work. The top picture shows a cut out around the size of the magnifying sheet that was bought.
The next two photos show us taping the inside of the box with duct tape while Joanna cut out an extra piece that might come in handy for later!
The next 2 pictures are of the magnifying glass placed inside of the box where the hole was cut out before we finally put in the phone.
What do you need?
The only products that were bought were:
glue sticks from a dollar store ($1.25)
a magnifying sheet ($1.25).
cardboard boxes lying around the house (free!)
For under three dollars we put together most of the materials needed to make the projector!
All we need is to put everything together!
